Eric Rosen: Oh no, my gambit!
Eric loves a good gambit.
Oh no, my queen!
Discovered check is the dive bomber of the Chessboard -- Reuben Fine ua-cam.com/video/VSKGUTLAaJs/v-deo.html
Fun fact: Eric said "oh no my Stafford Gambit" before
i know it is pretty randomly asking but do anyone know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online?
bro how has your voice not changed at all in 11 years
I actually recorded all of these videos 11 years ago. I'm slowly releasing them to the public. (i'm joking btw and thanks for thinking I still sound the same)

find yourself someone who loves you like Kevin loves a gambit
Haha you will live a long and happy life if you do.
Great (and rare) analysis of the Declined Stafford. Well done and thank you!
Finally, my favorite gambit. So many ways to attack, but so many ways to defend
Favorite gambit is a bold statement. I like it. It's in my top 50 list for sure :)
I needed this as Eric Rosen made the Stafford Gambit never be accepted 😭
haha I know right
I've been following you from last 3 years. Great videos
3 years. That's awesome.
Always the same routine:
1. Watch the new video.
16 min later...
2. Go and watch the other videos on the channel and feel like I can destroy all my enemies.
3. Lose a game.
Repeat
I love how specific you are with the 16 minutes. You've got a solid routine going.
At 3:14 he can move the pawn to A3 so that he can still protecting the queen, threat the bishop and protect the knight
This video was great, keep moving
From Egypt
Just mové back to a5 u still pin the knight and u out of danger... took me some thinking
Great video as always. Would love to see a video on the Deutz Gambit in the future, as I know everyone loves a good gambit
I like that idea. Keep an eye out for a video on the Deutz Gambit in the future.
Yes!! Thank you for this!
I got my first chest for Christmas so I now I don’t have to play on my phone. Your videos so amazing because I actually learn something 😂
That's a pretty awesome Christmas present.
I think Bobby Fischer got his first chess set as a birthday/christmas gift from his sister from a giftshop.
You on your way there yet?
Hi quick question, how would i be able to counter the move of knight from e5 to f7 instead of going for the c6 knight
Is it just me or did anybody else think of Stanford the very first time they heard the Stafford gambit?
Why can't the queen take the pawn at 7:31?
This looks like the gambit my brother always beats me with.
Hello Kevin...I was watching an old video of "thechesswebsite" I made a few years ago "Boris vs Bobby Game 10"... I remember those days of Spassky vs Fischer...My brother got the Nickname "Boris"-LOL....The whole country was into Chess! "Them the days!" I like your nice voice and explanations of various moves...Glad your here...can't help but think "The Power Structure" is playing a game of "Chess" on us all....Aside, "MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!" to you and your Family...
5 STARS!

Thanks Van. Appreciate the feedback and for the support after all of these years. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.
@@chesswebsite I'm not the Best player (I can never beat "Level !0")--LOL, I LOVE CHESS! and it's History...Greatest Game Invented!
It is so good. Glad you enjoy it as much as I do.
Wat if after Be2.. Qxg2? Dats a bad position for white i think
Let me get my whiskey ready. Can’t wait to watch this one.
Love that you drink whiskey while you watch my videos.
Hey man! Eric Rosen mentioned, acknowledged and thanked you (regarding this video) in his video (ua-cam.com/video/HmM4MGjvh7U/v-deo.html). Two great Stafford minds. I still play the -Stafford every time as black, despite knowing it's not objectively good, but it's lots of fun for sure.
Also, thank you for being the greatest chess openings teacher in youtube for a long long time!
You are too kind.
Wow I am actually first for once. Great vid!
Thanks Johnathan.
Friendship is worth more than fame
At 11:49, doesn't c3 unpin the d2 knight and fork the black knight and bishop?
How do you not talk about knight to f7?
As a Lions fan this is my new favorite gambit
Nobody tougher in the league that Stafford. Now with Swift and TJ the future looks bright.
I thank you a million times for your videos.
You are welcome a million times back.
Thanks Kevin your videos have helped me improve from 1000 to 2800 FIDE in six months
Absolute bollocks 😂
At 2:22, why not QxG2 and threaten the rook, while dashing white's chance of king-size caste? After they move to protect their rook the knight is still up for grabs.
Lols, that's an absolute blunder. If Qxg2, there is a simple Bf3. You are forced to move your queen to safety, you missed the chance recapture the knight, and you are down with a material (knight). What's worse, white becomes more aggressive since the g-file is already open whilst yours has delayed/lesser development. 🤣🤣🤣
@@kuyadong6791 I see that now thank you
I have a question. What if white plays 3. Nxf7 ?
Free knight!
What about Bb6???? That happens too or did I miss it?
At 7:36 white could gp Qxe4 to take the pawn couldn't it?
Amen. What are we missing?
i have watched lots of your videos and enjoy them. can you make a cochrane gambit video?
I have a video on my website for the cochrane gambit. www.thechesswebsite.com/chess-openings/
wait so what happens after queen h4? 12:16
Finally!
Isn't this Gambit focused around g4? The entire strat is getting them to open f2?
Thanks for the game and analysis
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
13:52 Why didn't you take the rook?
11:41 Why is Qh4 a good move here? Doesn't white have g3? Noob here and I can't seem to find what's next for black.
@Casual Potato Knight F3 would be checkmate as white knight on D2 is pinned by the bishop on B4
Such a cool open
A lot of these traps were aimed at the queen, but the amount of material you had to give up seems like it might not be worth it. I'm new to chess, still very low rated, so if someone could help me understand the reasoning I would really appreciate it. :) thanks.
You know what a gambit is now right?? Or are u still looking for someone to explain?
11:04 finally we captured the Queen
But at what cost?
I read this in BreakyCPK's voice.
I dont get how black gets to have an advantage and works it out at 11:06 even with having eaten the queen
what a bout white bhC4
? im confused
How about Nc3?
What app are you using to play chess?
You should try using time stamps, great video.
Added. Thanks for the suggestion.
What happens if white goes f7 with knight? Wouldn’t white just be winning because king has to take?
1:50 what if white plays bishop b7?
Thanks Kevin for pgn !
Hopefully that was what you were hoping for Alex.
Yes! I just need to cut and paste which is much faster than pausing the video and typing it up. Thank you 🙏 😊
nice but what if the opponent does not even take the pawn?
At 14:15 wouldn't that be mate?
I never accept the Stafford Gambit in speed chess. It's just not worthy. Usually the people who play it will always come packed with theory and you will spend lots of time navigating through the dozens of different threats that black can pose to white. It's very passive and not comfortable at all to play, even though it is objectivelly better. All the 'refutations' includes too many tricks that will mostly leave your king under attack during the entire game. Playing 4.d4 is much more solid and still gives white some advantage
What if white declines by playing 3. Nc3 ?
What should black do against bishop h3 at 14:00? Is it just trading bishops and taking the rook?
If bishop plays h3, then trade bishops, and if they take with the rook you can play queen to g2 to put white in check (which will probably force them back) and then take the rook after
@@carsonmiller2701 Thanks, it's been so long since i typed that that i can't remember my train of thought at the time anymore ahaha.
What if the white knight takes f7? I guess you have to take it with the king? But that seems like a dangerous position to be in. I'm not good at chess at all. I'm just asking for advice, not trying to poke holes in this or anything.
My problem is trying to remember all these openings. Was Fischer right in saying classic chess relies more on memorization than actual tactics?
In the openings there definitely is a good bit of memorization. I would recommend picking a few openings you like focus on those. Only crazy people (like me) study so many.
Eric Rosen brought me here with his latest Dubai Rapid video
Eric Rosen is the Stafford Gambit goat.
Yes, finally! Thank you 🙏
At 7:31 , please correct me if I’m wrong, but can white take with queen and then threaten the bishop and if bishop takes then take with pawn?
Also at 7:57 can’t queen go to d3?
At 7:31 If they take the pawn with the queen than black plays rook to e8 and white loses the queen.
at 7:57 if the queen goes to d3 it would fall to the pawn.
At 3:12 you say to remove the pin they need to drop the bishop back. What if they were to go pawn to a3? Then what would you suggest?
it's check. white can't move a3. that's why white needs to move Be3
@@washamisha6582 after black goes bishop to b4. There is no check. White could go a3
just take the knight so it will force the white to castle on the king side. and also black is still on the advantage
Why can’t the queen or knight capture tha pawn on e4 7:39
Blacks knight is attacking the queen, if he moves one of his knights he loses his queen and if he captures the pawn you can pin whites queen with your rook
@@j.c.m8847 oh okay.... thanks so much!
7:30 can someone explain why cant white play Qxe4?
Re8 comes to the party and pins the queen to the king
8:28 white knight d5
Then the Queen can escape or do a lot of dmg
Everything seems great until you understand that you must aim for the King, not for the Queen.
Can you show is the Duras Gambit?
I like gambits but the Duras Gambit is pretty bad. I'll do it if enough people want to see it, but my guess is that 90% of people will immediately respond with "Why would you make this awful video. You are horrible at chess."
My opponent just doesn't want to take my pawn for god sake
Did you ask them nicely?

oh no my queen
13:53 Why not take the rook on h1?
I think because you can have a stronger attack if you dont take the rook
At ua-cam.com/video/10NBxQiAQdk/v-deo.html 3:20 couldn't white just kick the bishop by advanced the rook pawn?
13:52 Queen takes rook?
You can but I think you have more threats by taking the pawn. Either option is winning.
Do you mean knight takes rook? The queen would have to go through a pawn to get to the rook.
@@robertbrandywine Hey Robert. I mean after pawn takes knight, queen can take rook. I'm just being pedantic.. :D
Oh no my queen!
White isn't that weak after kc3
Big Up!
Thanks Flavio.
There is a gambit I would suggest u make a video on, but i don’t want my secret weapon to be exposed lol
Well you know I like a good gambit so if you care to share your secret weapon I will gladly make a video on it.

Maybe you should start. It's a good one.
No one has commented oh no my piece yet
Wtf is with the letters on his board?? They're backwards..throws this all outta wack.
I'm guessing you don't like looking at this opening from black's perspective?
🤦♂️
Doesn’t seem like much of a gambit.
My opponents always play something like Nc3
The counter Stafford. Clever opponent.
how about B on c4?
and what about fucking knight to f7
Eric Rosen will be upset for sure when you decline stafford gambit. It's a fun gambit actually for black but everyone knows it so it's not that special anymore.
It will always be special to me.
13:54, queen should take the rook...
they cant its blacks move
I disagree. I think it's much stronger to take the pawn and continue the attack. You don't win games by taking rooks. You win games by checkmating your opponent's king.
Why do you make these videos?
how else am i learning this? No, i don't even play
