Perfect explanation of minimalism. When I tell people I am a minimalist, they always imagine my house is empty, but when they come to my house they are surprised and I always say that been minimal is having less and having what is necessary for you, not forgetting to make it beautiful and cozy

Your so right about how people live so dark! I stage homes and it just surprises me how people can live with their blinds always down. The light really affects my mood!

I've clipped from the yard for decades. Never heard anyone else say that! It makes such a big difference.
I love art...and books. I've spent a lot of time curating the very items I love and that fit into my home.
Then, I bought a 100 year old house with original stained glass windows. The house came with its own art. I had to reduce my beloved art drastically, so as not to detract from the windows. I streamlined immensely.
Now, I'm moving from the house with stained glass windows. I still have my whole art collection, but my tastes have changed.
I enjoy listening to you very much. I appreciate the clarity and specificity with which you explain your choices and style. Thank you for sharing in such detail. I look forward to future videos from you.

I love minimalism. Being at home and having the things that you need and they be the best you can afford is right up my alley. I don't want a bunch of clutter, but what I do have brings a smile to my face and makes my home is my castle even though it's an apartment. Wishing everyone an amazing New Year!

As a Dane I would never consider this a trend - I feel like decorating your home like this, is way more sustainable than other trends. I do believe that people won't get sick of their items as quickly, and feel the need to switch them out as often. 🥰

This is the perfect way to describe my style. As I’ve gotten older, I want less things and more adventures, but I still love a cozy atmosphere.
You pull it all together so nicely. Thanks for some inspiration to fluff my nest.

YES! Love this "new" trend! I live in Sweden so I already live by some of these tips. Like bringing in lots of light, plants, candles and blankets!! I think my favourite aspect of what you talked about is texture. They definitely bring in the warm, cosy and homey vibe and I love mixing textures! Marble, glass, wood and brass is a winning combo for me when styling my kitchen for example!

I've embraced minimalism as a homeschool mom of 4, antique and vintage lover. I love it. One of the most amazing impacts I have had was getting rid of big furniture. In the bedrooms, no dressers, we have closets. This lends more play space for the kids. Or for us, a nice cozy place for a chair. Less surfaces means less place for clutter to collect. The more I've gotten rid of the more I crave more space; whitespace. I think it's gorgeous. So when something is added, it just looks nice. I love shopping, I love all the things, but my mental health, time I'm spending on cleaning, time I have to do the things I'd rather be doing than cleaning have changed for the better.

This has been my style for the last twenty years. I collect handmade items from travels, usually wood or stone, and I love dark, earthy colors. I do have a bookcase in my garage where I store and rotate some decor based on season or just to have something different to look at.

I am incapable of minimalism hahahaha! even when I plan a color scheme for a room with 4 basic hues, somehow I sneak in 2 or 3 more. The main difference I've noticed with my style is that I love clean lines and curves together. Something round must be with something square...it just makes me so happy to see them together. This seems to be exactly what you do...loads of clean lines with rounded objects, even straight up circles are all over your house. That's what I love.

I did not want this video to end! On the spectrum (if there is one) of "warm minimalism", I'm on the "warm" end. What I love most is the sophistication of the overall look, but the materials mean so much in achieving it. Marble makes me swoon, and smooth, rounded lines are my current obsession. My dream bedroom is masculine, softened by sumptuous textiles. I love how you realized your space and made it happen!

Great advice ! Love you guys ❤️ when I lived in Germany and France and I brought back with me a lot of the style elements like tall Windows you see in Paris in some of the apartments, also Parisian moldings. I had to buy a few different books and use some of my photos to recreate my favorite combination of moldings on the wall and how it will look, what I learned was to create a larger wall panels by lowering the wainscoting, the only really fancy ornate part of the molding was the mitered corners of the crown molding throughout the house added a little bit of grandeur but not too much. Germany I brought back with me beautiful modern lamps and gorgeous solid oak furniture. I remember my apartment in Germany had Ultra Modern White kitchen cabinets, the way they were designed had this cool look to them and I wanted to recreate this Modern look. I still have to work on finishing my home remodel, but I will definitely share the pictures with you guys when finished..

Yes, love warm minimalism. It’s the cozy, clean lines, nature, and luxury touches for me.
About 5 years ago I moved toward what I call rational minimalism-only keeping things I truly love, but I had very few thing. This style tends to be a bit cold and sterile. People ask, “where’s your stuff?” 😂.
I found your UA-cam about 3-4 months ago and was instantly attracted to your style and have been incorporating your suggestions into my house and it’s made a big difference. Candles, books, botanicals, luxury soaps, towels. I want to continue with this in all areas of my home.
I am curious how you are using the H&M marble based round vanity mirror to style your house? I bought one, but trying to decide where to place it for now. Maybe on a bedroom dresser?

Can’t say that I love minimalism but I can learn from the concept. It is not about deprivation but more about taking inventory of one’s life. At the end one surrounds themselves with what they and is good for them. You know something? It sounds more than just designing space. Gracias, Valentina for making me ponder the possibilities.

Like you I have lived in several countries (I am now in Spain). I am moving for the third time in 3 years and this time we are downsizing. A daunting experience as it's hard to decide what to keep and what to let go of. This video has made it easier to think what and how I need to live in that smaller space. Every wall, corner, nook and cranny does not need to be filled. Sometimes space gives us room to breath. Can't wait to see more of these ideas.

  • @jcs3330

I work with the same colour palette. As for minimalism I do not consider my chosen interior style to this 'severe' restriction although I appreciate in others choices. I think a 'decluttered' and well thought out design that is well balanced and clean dressed with the odd 'eclectic' items can bring a warmth without having to live within a stark on concrete styled base. Also a property with a 'quirky' layout or build design can also make this stylised look great. I am downsizing from a 2 bed/ 2 bath seaview apartment to a 1 bed/1 bath which is a smaller footprint but has bi-fold doors in all main rooms with rooftop and countryside views, and although nervous of the downsize am confident of getting the look I have and you describe.

I agree! First thing we did when we purchased our first home is get rid of all the bushes and trees surrounding the house you couldn't see the beauty of the home hidden behind all those trees and brush! We woke the home up! We took all the old curtains and window treatments down and let the light in i actually just painted the large bay window frame inside the house white what a difference in this small sitting room! So much lighter and looks much larger, love it! I'd go crazy if the house was so dark and gloomy! I love all the light coming in! Thanks for this video! 🥰💐

Hi it’s Jonni from Phoenix AZ. Happy New New Year! Love your bedroom and your thoughts on decorating for modern minimalism. My favorite part is decorating with what you have and the clean lines and smooth decorative items. The candles are a must and the greenery. Loved the House Hunter episode. I grew up in Colorado and Wyoming so I know cold and snow and do NOT care for it. I moved to Phoenix AZ and only visit cold places on vacation. So, now you guys are back in Atlanta with no white walls, lots of dark. Complete white everywhere is not my style. We own a paint company and worked with a designer for darker colors and window treatments and now I’m trying to redecorate our bedroom and completely change our bedroom set. You’ve inspired me in some ways on what to change and how to, I just have to get rid of the non essential items and clutter. You’d freak out if you saw how much stuff we have in our large master bedroom. We took the wall unit out and installed the A/V system on the wall and now I have to figure out what to do with all of the things we had in the wall unit that held so much. It’s overwhelming. And we’ve been here since 94 so the stuff has accumulated. Moving as much as you have really had to have you start over in so many ways. We have accumulated so much stuff in the entire house and we are trying to eliminate as much stuff but again it’s so hard to let go. I don’t even know why. Anyway awesome video, and it helped to get to know you all better so I can continue to look for new videos.

Your channel changed my whole person on design and making my space cohesive. I love the simplicity of the black and white with greenery. I recently did several “black” accent walls throughout my home and did away with the greys and blues. Makes such a difference! I’m in constant battle between what I see and who I am when it comes to decoration!

V, I can’t Thank you enough for all you bring to your channel, I get so inspired by everything and I mean everything, even if it’s just going into one room and giving it a little revamp by changing what I have around, it doesn’t have to cost you money to do it and you can still use what you have, that’s what I love about you and your channel, just the little things that I’ve changed in my home decor is adding my own greenery from my garden to my vases, makes all the difference and looks lovely, something I would of never thought to do. I love your wall lights above your bed, I know this is an odd question, but is there a reason why your print above your bed isn’t centred or it just could be from the camera shot, my OCD would have to have it centred Lol 😂. Can you do difference between Japandi , Scandinavian minimalism , and Italian Contempoary like those gorgeous high end Italian spaces with sleek lines .. I love them all but not sure if I even know the difference !! I love the look of your sleek , classy , homey look … keep it coming Valentina .. I love your warm family too that’s what really sells me on your style .. the warmth that permeates your heart !

I love warm minimalism. I didn't like minimalism because it seems so austere until now. But, with blankets I think I will have a winner here. I have so many and never used. Keep it coming

Is the leopard frame on the wall a tv? I looked for it in the list but could not find it and then wondered if it is a tv with the HOV logo. Anyone know? Thanks

I love the fresh clippings from your yard. What kind of maintenance is involved in always having fresh clippings in your home? Do you have to change the water daily?

You guys even clinked in the HHI episode! lol. I really think it's so cool to see the origin story of your style with Denmark. I've been watching your videos for several months now and slowly collecting items, being very selective (H&M finge blanket is my FAV thus far!), for when I finally move into my new place (building takes FOREVER!)
