I prefer to leave my companions alive. The key is not winning the Barter check during your first conversation with this jackass. You don't really get much of an advantage, really, but at least I don't have to run away for my life after offing him.
I find it pretty cool how using a skill check actually ends up antagonizing Dean instead of unlocking a non-lethal option like it usually does in New Vegas. It's not only a super neat twist to the skill check options, but it also fits with his egotistical personality.
@@私の名前を翻訳しないでくださいYeah, but the problem is this never happens in the base game, so your brain is conditioned to think of skill checks as instant win options until suddenly it isn't with Dean. And it's not like the game ever tells you either, I promise there's not a single person out there that figured out the barter check antagonizes him on their first playthrough before they actually did it.
@nagger8216 That's a good point and I agree, I wish there more instances like this in the base game and other DLCs where skill checks can end up antagonizing characters. That way, it can demonstrate to the player that skill checks won't always unlock a non-lethal option. This also could have fixed a minor issue I kind of had with New Vegas' dialogue system where you can persuade people by just picking the option with a skill check rather than picking the option that's actually the right thing to say. They sort of did this during Lanius' encounter but it was still mostly just "pick whatever option has the skill check."
I think the correct way to keep Dean alive is to fail ALL speech/barter checks against him so you won't let his narcissistic ass think you've outsmarted him. God I love this game.
i forget theres a way to not kill dean because like. why would you not
Exactly😭 dudes snakier than benny

@@drivernephi2212 Nah. Only the 1st Barter check counts. All of the others won’t. Just avoid that one and you’ll be fine.
Probably my favourite new Vegas companion love to hate
I like him, in fact he is my favorite New Vegas character
I hate sinclair more, jackass was a simp and made those ghost people possible with the cloud from BIG MT. Who's the real villain?
Replay the DLCs before commenting, maybe get a decent father figure while you're at it.
