Baltsa is perhaps a tad too small-voiced for this part, but I love how much tenderness she brings to this duet. Most Santuzzas just belt it out, but she really seems like someone who's been wounded by her spurned love. There could be more venom, however, in her "A te la mala pasqua!" Carreras is, appropriately, impervious to her pleas.
This is fantastic! Baltsa is still the definitive Santuzza. Isn't her "Bada" fantastic? Where and when was this filmed? Is the whole concert available?
