I'm doing the dark aeons for the first time now and beat 2 already and all my characters skills are under 100. So far my best advice is have good armor and know Rikku mixes
Yeah, Valefor and Ifrit cam be doable. Ixion will be a little tough, and Shiva would be extremely difficult. The others would stomp you into the ground and obliterate you before you knew what had happened in all likelihood.
@@DPhoenix237 It was Valafor and Ixion. Infrit destroyed me. To be far my aeons got leveled up alot when I was capturing monsters. Valafor was easy Ixion was a long hard battle and I had hardly any Phoenix downs left afterwards. Was going try Infrit again after an Omega ruins grind and had like 60 levels to use to level up but got caught by Marlboro and died. Glad it happened really because I accidentally sold a Waterstrike/Break Damage Limit weapon I got. I don't care what I got to do I refuse to use Yojimbo
Amezing hard work you did, at least this proves that you can make a good use of the legendary weapons for the challenges. I am replaying this on my switch and I didn't even reach Zenarkand, was just back tracking suddenly stumbling upon dark shiva and getting demolished, I didn't know dark aeons existed till now. But I found a way to beat Shiva with Yojimbo and on some research I have been resetting the game with Yojimbo trying to get a better drop from dark Ixion. Having second thoughts about it now. Tidus has his sun sigil sword thing, so i could get rikku and wakkas and grind heavily more is better for the chalanges.
Oh damn that's rough, lol. Dark Shiva, Magus Sisters and Valefor are the main ones that you struggle with when randomly going round. Valefor's placement is by far the worst imho because it can block you getting Anima 😒 Thanks for the nice feedback though!
@@DPhoenix237 I found that once you kill Valefor (using the Yojimbo method) and are able to get Anima and Yuna's celestial weapon will make farming the omega ruins MUCH easier until Yuna is powerful enough to start killing One-eye to get Triple AP weapons using the Magus Sisters OR Anima.
If you're having trouble with the chocobo minigame you can actually get tidus's second best weapon by killing shiva with yojimbo as long as you got the cash and your affinity is high Took me 8 tries but i was able to get tidus's Excalibur with break damage limit AND 3 empty slots Its mostly up to the RNG but this is better compared to that dog shit mini game plus it's faster compared to getting 5 of every monster captured
Non-BPL weapons don't ignore defence Celestials do though, so they suck against the higher DAs and Penance. You're better off just using a different character with their Celestial.
Nah, you're much better off using other characters with their Celestials. Yuna's and Auron's are easy to get. Wakka and Rikku shouls be staples. Kimahri's depends on how you are at following a map/route for it.
Tidus celestial is one of the easiest. Just keep racing until the first balloon of the race spawns in front of Tidus. If it spawns in front of your opponent dont waste your time and energy trying to win.
I got a question. Is there any point in killing all the dark aeons, other then there drops? Or is it just to say you killed the dark aeons lol I finished my stat maxing
It'd have them unless it's the PS2 NA or Japanese original, so it depends on your region. Ps2 INT had the Dark Aeons too. Easy way to tell is a) do you have Extract Ability/Extract Speed etc as learnable skills on your grid? Or b) does Quick Hit cost 12 mp or 36? Quick Hit is late in the game though unfortunately.
This one was about 75-76 hours, story mode up to BFA (last boss) and Nemesis, all Dark Aeons and Penance defeated. That includes playing a Blitzball league and tournament in Luca, getting everyone's Celestials upgraded, and maxing Tidus/Wakka/Yuna/Rikku's grids. On my Expert Sphere grid playthrough that I'm uploading currently, I've ignored Auron, Kimahri and Lulu for much of the playthrough and could've beaten the Dark Aeons and Penance in 55 hours or so. It'll be about 60 hours including maxing Yuna's grid and getting Magic to 255 as well.
@@DPhoenix237 wow that's so much more efficient than me. I'm up to 100 hours and I've only just beaten nemesis, although I've taken my time and this is my first playthrough where I'll be trying to 100% the game
@@frozennz1 That's fine though, these playthroughs of mine are meant to be like that. They're not speed runs in terms of the story, but they are optimised to be powerful right the way through, and I went though the capturing and Stat-Maxing processes to best optimise them so I could do my guide. Getting the 100% playthrough done is an achievement in and of itself!
@@DPhoenix237 True, I think the efficiency lies in planning the sphere grid. I have no experience in filling it out so I'm just dropping whatever nodes I need anywhere and then all the other characters will have to go around again and pick them up..
This is focused on being an extremely efficient playthrough, not a perfect playthrough. Stoneproof takes no time to customise but Ribbon takes hours and hours. It's not worth taking hours to get Ribbon armours to save a couple of minutes difference when fighting the DAs. I have done a full BHPL playthrough with 7 perfect characters, it's on the Break HP limit stat Maxing series.

Yeah, using Zanmato is just a waste against the Dark Aeons. Much more rewarding to battle them properly 😁

you have put so much time of your life in this game.
Not sure if this was a criticism or an observation....but are you certainly correct.

Does this work against yojimbo, anima and the magus sister with 9999 hp or u need to break hp
Yeah it does, there's a playlist on my channel that has separate videos for those battles.

It unlocks Penance, who you get a trophy/achievement for beating. Mainly it's the challenge, though.
How do you tell if u can get the dark aeons
