As a collector in 2007 who also worked at Walmart during this time, this was the only figure that shelfwarmed. Collectors at the time were split. They either hated it because the alternate mode was a junk pile that dodnt resemble anything close to an alien jet, or the robot mode itself for not resembling Megatron at all. Then you had those who actually preferred the Voyager Megatron because of the lack of gimmicks and the alternate form was a bit more streamlined. I bought both (which was easy to do because I opened those boxes on stock day and a 10% discount made collecting for me a bit more affordable) and at the time I liked the Voyager more, because the ocean shields did hide the robot parts more than the Leader did and looked better in both modes, even of he couldnt stand that well. Today, on my shelf I have this one in robot mode while Voyager is in vehicle mode. They're much better toys than we gave them credit for in 2007, but 2007 Megatron is still an eyesore that the toy at least tried to come across as fun yet still menacing.

Right? I started recollecting in the late 90s when Beast Wars piqued my interest with their balljointed figured. Sold all my G1 during my 'I'm a teenage and have lots to prove' phase.
It's not vintage. Cracks me up when I see the Millenial seller's calling Bayverse vintage.
Yeah, I call them vintage cause most stores now that sell them categorize them as such.
Two things that will help improve both of his gimmicks:
1) Take the spring out of his Fusion Cannon. Believe it or not, it locks closed pretty well with out it, and stays open. You can also slide the piece over on a short rail to center it properly, which isn't in the instructions.
2) put the spring from the cannon into the side with the flail. The latch that holds it on has a peg that the spring fits snuggly onto, because the first was meant to be launched but they left the second spring out for some reason. So officially the gimmick got neutered but can be restored WHILE improving the other one.
You can also extend the nosecone in jet mode but that's a matter of choice, since the back half ends up so much skinnier as a result.

So the back kibble for all these Megs might actually be a result of a few select scenes from the first movie, that showed Megatron’s wing bits transforming first and then the rest of him, so he probably has some kinda flight mode in robot mode that’s just his wings extending from his back, and it looks like the toy creators just ran with that image
This figure is still cool in my opinion i mean is really nostalgia good figure tbh

I have the MPM version, picked him up brand new for 40 USD. I really like him, definitely worth what I paid for him. I don’t have the studio series version, so I don’t know if it’s better, but the MPM is my favorite figure of the design.
The SS version is really awesome for a Voyager. Just lacks the Fusion Canon. But at least the flail is included and is way better than the MPM one imoZ
The SS 2007 Megatron is good but not better than the mpm one, the joints are fine but the legs suck, there too wide, and his back is too flat, it's why I got the mpm one cause I love the way it looks

Lol i was never able to muck around with my old Uni trilogy figures after 8pm because the ratchets were so loud theyd annoy everyone in the house lol. Still have this guy on display with my other Megs. Not my fav but still cuts a pretty impressive figure lined up.

I have the gray, premium-finish, 2007 leader class and I love him! you have him transformed wrong. The tail sits closer to the body.
The most recent leader class I acquired was Kingdom/Legacy Galvatron and I have had him for over a week and I just like it so much for its plastic heftyness, minimum hollowness, the G1 accuracy that destroys the Titans Return version but I added missing paint apps such as his black goatee, the red in the center of his buckle and his shoulder towers and removed the battle damage.

For me the definition of leader class is Cybetron Megatron/Galvatron. Big, beefy, flamboyant design, and more gimmicks than you can count with one hand.
I like his cold colors. Made him more interesting than just being grey. He was featured in the commercials for the 2007 movie toys. So while he's not movie accurate he is definitely the megatron of this era.
you mentioning the cost of oil going up puts modern tfs and their pricing into perspective a bit better for me. like, your dollar went farther in 2007, but now not only do dollars mean less, there’s also the problem of hasbro used up all their good plastic a decade ago

Lol I used the term vintage due to lots of the online retailers classifying them as such. I remember going to walmarts back in the day and seeing these on shelves too.

You can pull the little black lever on the right arm to make the mace flail around on its own. Also, I’m pretty sure there was never a spring to “fire” the hand, mine always just kind of fell out when it was new
The arm that has the frail has a black piece. That you move. And it can move the mace around.
When they were designing this toy they thought it would be played with not displayed with his flail in a certain pose
I loved this toy so much when I was a kid. I was a megatron FANBOY because of this toy. And then I purchased the leader class rotf megatron and that thing to me wasnt as cool only because of the small little left arm
As someone who owns the Studio Series version, I'd say it's totally worth it, he's coated in nice durable silver paint, so he definitely stands out more compared to other Megatrons
Same, and I agree. Although… I’m still waiting for an upgrade kit where it comes with his first movie cannon.

The claw arm does not have a spring inside of it, so it did not ever shoot out the flail.
I modified mine in the day to add a spring.

The studio series 2007 megatrons feet are much better like there is no problems like it’s sturdy and actually keeps the dude standing instead of the other 07 megatrons

For anyone that uses Buyee what happens when the seller sends the wrong item. I had gotten a galaxy force vector prime but the seller sent fall of cybertron soundwave so I don’t know if he sent the wrong figure or he put the wrong name on it but I contacted buyee inquire service about it, but what happens do they contact the seller to send the proper item or am I screwed out of a vector prime?

I decided to pull this one out of the collection again. The ratchet joints on the knees of my megatron just exploded but it doesn't affect the articulation.
recent leaders that I feel like are actual leaders from the engineering, paint and heft are SS 98 Grimlock and Kingdom Megatron

I used to have this Megatron when i was 5 and even though i knew how to transform it, parts just kept breaking off and i just ended up leaving it in storage for 15 years and then sold took it took it to a goodwill
i got this guy for 10 bucks at a traders village cuz id never had an actual big megatron toy that matched the size of my roft optimus

Hey if you want to attempt to replace the spring mechanism for the arm or anything else maybe even just for spare parts I have 1 that is Missing parts and parts of the feet broke but I'd gladly give it away it just sits in the closet

I'll always see this as the Nightslash2020/TFXProductions Megatron since this was the Megatron figure Nightslash used for his Transformers stop-motion series back in the day. Good times.
I never understood what was with the pink spikes sticking up, It's a cool look but I never understood the point. It's like It's supposed to be the "this Isn't even my final form" gimmick for this figure or something.
I liked this toy so much I had two of them! OK, I only had two because I bought all the movie toys (well, one of each character), and my then-girlfriend's family got me one for chirstmas.

I remembee getting one for christmas as my second transformer after energon red alert. I was so excited but didnt understand the instructions and ended up breaking off his butt christmas morning. 😢 got a masterpiece megs now and.....well its robot mode is good. Jet mode the feet dont stay in place and nothing wants to tab in.
I will get a ko of mpm Megatron and try remove part of kibble. And I have this leader and I really like this figure

If I had to choose one version of 2007 Megatron, I’d say the premium version all the way.
As much as I like the Studio Series version, I miss the gimmicks in this one.
for me i feel like the classes should have remained size classes cuz what parent is gonna see kingdom rodimus and pay au$180 for it? or pay au$89 for galvatron or optimus or megatron like people are saying "it has more plastic" and "it has more articulation" these are meant to be kids toys bought by parents parents aren't gonna spend a well frankly shit ton of money for a tiny chunk of plastic

Ok let me be absolutely clear MPM line is NOT Masterpiece or it really doesn’t deserve the title of masterpiece. Its an oversized leaderclass. That is it.
It's 3:30am. You roll over trying to fall back asleep. Suddenly, out of nowhere, you hear this ( 4:09 ) sound being repeated over and over on top of itself. On the display shelf, flashing its lights in the dark, this toy is freaking the fuck out. To this day I have no idea what was wrong with it, but I took the batteries out there and then.
The feet in this leader class Megatron is not really that bad it’s the old voyager that ha really bad feet

But I prefer the rotf Megs (which some people say its weakest rotf leader figure) but with the upgrade arm It really shines
Also Im one of the people that really likes his sound gimmick, the "I AM MEGATROOON!" its so awesome and his alien alt its pretty solid

That's a lot of the Bayverse figs poor foot design and you'd be hard pressed to find any where every tab stays tabbed. And batteries why is it Bayverse figures need lights and batteries when other tf lines did great without them.... But I get it, that's the junk they sold when you're growing up.

It's actually really funny that the Studio Series version is the only figure of this design to not have a massive backpack. Even the MPM figure couldn't get that right.
