They could have just taken the voyager, made it bigger with some improvements, filled the gaps and it would be MILES better
you just described dragoon in a nutshell (just mp levels of complex but it follows the voyager in terms of where everything goes) so yea you are right. Take the voyager, fold the feet more so it's hidden, maybe do something a bit more complex with the nose of the jet since leaders have more budget, and you have a perfect leader right there

@@AmsidkdnslsNo, you got a pretty good copy. Alot of toy reviewers that reviewed leader class TLK Megatron has those issues.
Fun fact: TLK Megatron's initial concept had a dragon mode, with his sword/axe as the tail! His alt-mode concept was changed to a cybertronian jet design late in production, yet all dragon mode elements still exist in robot mode!
That would’ve been a nice homage to Transmetal 2 Beast Wars Megatron

Having this figure for a while, I can say that I very much enjoy it. The sheer shelf presence it has, the face swap feature and the jet mode just make this figure for me

Nitro Zeus was the only saving grace, both on screen and in toy form.
While the Voyager is admittedly better, the Leader definitely has shelf presence. Never got either but I imagine it's only a matter of time before we get a very much improved SS release. Hopefully a Leader Class.
I know this figure isn’t the best, far from it, but it’s one of my favorites. As someone who doesn’t own Unique Toys’s take, I love this design and, in turn, this figure. Haven’t finished the video but I do bet everything you say is valid! Great review so far!
I think it would be a great figure if they fixed up the arms. Fill in the gaps and give him proper arm articulation then it I think it would actually be an amazing figure. He just needs better posing at least.
Edit: yeah, the QC on the copy you reviewed was awful. I own this figure and his QC is perfectly fine. Guess I was lucky.
That kind of sword seems to work like a warhammer would: armor piercing. Except that a warhammer uses it's weight and it's spike to do so. I have no clue if a sword like this ever existed, but it seems like something impractical because 1: the edge is univen because of those ribs, 2: as a thrusting weapon it wouldn't work well since the tip is too wide and 3, ideally you'd use it as a worse war hammer but even then, if you want a heavy slashing weapon you could use an axe
I think the name for this weapon is a sycamore. It’s a rip and tear weapon if I’m not mistaken, first it would pierce an opponent with the top edge and on it’s way down the second blades under the top ones would tear into the opponent. A very dangerous weapon if used correctly. I really don’t see how it would work against a Cybertronian.
@@custommediacreationsconsidering everyone is made of layers and layers of parts and exposed wires and jagged bits, I’d say it’s a perfect weapon for their species. And that does make sense as how it works, I guess it’s like a pickaxe pretending to be a sword
@@j-sant-animations8105 Oh yeah, I forgot that transformers are essentially full of openings and wires and such. That weapon would be more devastating to a cybertronian than a human. It's a pity Megatron did absolutely nothing with it.
it appears to be based on an African weapon called a Konda Sword or an Ikakalaka

Perhaps when Hasbro finally makes a studio series figure of tlk megs, they could make it so the fusion cannon can be pegged on and off the robot, and vehicle modes like unique toys dragoon. And they could probably have the wings be removable, so they could combine and probably transform a little bit to make the shield!
Fun story about this figure
I got this guy for Christmas in 2017 and when I first tried to transform him into jet me and my dad couldn’t figure out the instructions so we had to watch reviews of him on UA-cam to figure out how to transform him.
Definitely not the worst leader class we have the age of extinction toyline to thank for that
Funny how you uploaded this on the same day my BS-02 Skybreaker was delivered. I was just thinking about how every mold of TLK Megatron looks pretty good overall. Very informative video about how the leader class one holds up.
This guy’s effect part is more appreciated than the actual figure.
as far as the nose cone is concerned, if you want to display him in jet mode you can wedge an object in the gap underneath it to prevent it from randomly popping open.
I really like this guy's jet mode. My copy's robot mode doesn't have nearly as many problems, but I do have the annoying battle mask problem with the tusks not retracting. I tried disassembling the head to fix it, and I sadly can't find a way.
I remember wanting this figure so damn bad when i was younger. The hype for the last knight was real, only to be dissapointing as hell
Could you redo the pin? I feel like that could be an easy fix. Or it's the most complicated thing possible, little things like that seem to go either way
If I remember correctly the original plan was for megatron to end up becoming unicrons weapon in the proposed 6th film after being reformatted in an homage to the original megatron and galvatrons toys.
Hey my first leader class ever! Got him on clearance for $35 at Walmart in 2016 and had fun flipping him around. He tumbled off the shelf and broke his ankle since then, very fragile.

Jet Mode looks sick! Robot mode really does look cool but I see the issues, a lot being QC issues! However an SS version could actually make him look incredible, just waiting for the day we get the leader SS TLK Megs now! Do really enjoy my Voyager version of him still.
I think it's kind of a miracle the alt mode and robot mode for TLK Megatron look so cohesive despite having at least two separate last minute design changes done to it, one of which literally turned it ass backwards and the other being _a fucking dragon_ that didn't look anything like either jet mode.
There's trick to keeping the front end closed. If you push the cannon in all the way after you close the two halves together it'll lock them in.
In my opinion This is the beast leader figure and I, happy to have him

I actually have the figures itself and one time. Half of the rubber fuselage/nosecone just *SNAPPED* off completely. On the right facing a person's left
And THIS is one of the reasons why I got a voyager and not a leader. If only it could flip out his battle mask

After one of the springs on my DOTM Meg's Mechtech Weapon popped, and after AOE Galvatron underwhelmed me (though looking at the SS variant, perhaps I judged him too harshly for what he had to achieve), I ended up picking this guy up when I saw him in a Walmart (no voyager Megatrons to be seen).
And you know what? I actually really liked the dude. I loved how massive and imposing he was over all my other Decepticons, I adored his sword-hilt-jet, and I admired how he looked like a gladiator that survived the pits of Kaon.
It also helped that I knew of his gorilla-arms and trigger happy cannon so I had my expectations tempered.
Overall, I found that I loved more things about this guy than minor nitpicks, and he's still in my collection as my definitive Megatron, even after all the SS releases.
It's insane to me that we went from the total lack of quality control of the """Premier Edition""" Last Knight toyline in 2017, and the "clearly they lost their whole budget and had to reuse an old gimmick"-ness of Power of the Primes in 2018, to Siege in 2019, which is actually... good? And might have saved the toyline? Like the total lack of quality during 17-18 was absolutely dire, I would love to know what on Earth happened in the Hasbro offices in those years (especially when toys take about 2 years to go from design to retail, and 2015 was Combiner Wars, which seemed to do pretty well at retail and reinvigorated a lot of interest in Transformers toys!)
i love megatron from tf5 and i got a figure a lil expensive but so coool the face is so much better than the other figures, it's just like in the film
The voyager is a mini MASTERPIECE. The leader is garbage.

I hate bad QC. Mine is mostly fine-just loose hips and a similarly bad battlemask. I'm sorry that both of your copies have been broken. I'll just stay with my Unique Toys one. Do you have that?

I wish I could swap the heads the head on the leader where you can from the face shield to his actual face that's only thing I like about this megatron if I did swap the heads would that interfere with the transformation in the voyager?
I love how amazing he looks, but man the QC is similar to how easy it was for Prime to cut his arm off

I still think TLK was only as terrible as it was because of the critics. The movie was meant to be a long movie but the critics screamed at Bay to make it shorter so he ended up having to cut out like half the movie, which caused it to come out as it did which was the jumbled terrible not cohesive mess that it was.
Not a bad review, I have the figure and I love it. My only question was why you fought with the cockpit/fusion cannon at all. Like, you KNEW it was going to fight you through out the transformation, so you should have shown it off in jet mode to start off with, given that the revealing cannon is the jet mode's main gimmick besides being freaking HUGE.

I don't understand the part about the boosters being backwards? The long part is the nose so how are they backwards? It's the same with the voyager
I found the tab that connects both arms gets stressed really easily and weakens does anyone else have that issue
One of my friends had this and then he let me hold it for I kid you not like 5 minutes then I broke it somehow so I kind of just awkwardly gave it back like “my bad dude.” And then I walked away.

I get why a lot of people prefer the voyager but the leader one is my favorite one

I like this Leader class more than most Studio series leaders post 2019.
the sword is actually based off of a real weapon, the Ikakalaka or Konda sword, its from east/central Africa
I bought this way back, and the cannon gimmick broke on mine, no longer wishes to stay up when it activates. I wish I can fix it but have no idea how. Faceplate on mine was terrible too, never fully closed. Unlike yours, nothing was loose on mine. Even the back on mine was good, I'm surprised how bad your copy was as my only issue was the face plate (which was better than your new ones) and the cannon gimmick breaking after a year or two of owning.
I actually like it why i bought it. Awesome jet mode. Not so bad looking robot mode that has appropriate size for Studio Series. And ofcourse the face transforming gimmick was cool.
Btw yours had lot of issues my copy doesnt have. I even painted some parts of the head red. Its perfect.
Man, if they ever made a ss if tlk megatron, it would be on my list in a heartbeat.
it just occured to me alot of old movie leaders have gorilla arms, and the only good version we got of that is studio series The Fallen
the concept art looks extremely like that one Depth Charge Cyclonus toy
Thought it looked okay. But it seems... bland? If it gets bigger, it should also get more details. And I get it, the smaller ones are easier to ship out with more details and such, if you were to design one by hand. But, this big one looks like it's currently in the prototype phase of being finished, before it's to get the minor fixes to the joints and such, along with the paintjob extra details.
I have this figure, however it's not the best. The thing I really like about it is the mask. Mine actually stays. The transformation sucks though. The part that falls apart on yours, falls apart on mine all the time.
Well I actually used buyee as of last week to get a g1 starsaber that was more or less in the same condition as yours maybe a little worse and i got him for 105 bucks(US) combined with the actual price I placed and the shipping. Since it was my first time bidding, I don't know if that was a good deal or not, then again, mp arcee was 150(US)so I guess I can't complain too much.

This is actually a good figure. The nose cone issue can be corrected by pushing the trigger for it forward, latching it in place more firmly. while the backpack isn't as slick as the design the voyager has, the jet is actually nicer and the battlemask gimmick is a fair trade off. The voyager is good too but I would hesitate to call it better, only thing objectively better on it is the cannon, the rest is going to depend on what you like. Biggest issue on the figure is the battle mask is frequently misassembled and rests asymmetrically on the face. There wasn't a bad megatron toy in the last knight unless you're getting into crap like the titan changer. Remember the other leaders too, biodegradable Dragonstorm and an Optimus with no chrome and also less paint. Good fun figure with some flaws, and we had an excellent voyager option if you wanted better scale and robot accuracy.
I think you got a raw deal for $40. With all it’s QC issues I wouldn’t have paid that much. Were the issues in the description?
I had this toy, it broke and I never bothered to fix or replace it. Bought it cause it was my first leader and I thought it'd be cool, oh how wrong I was.
as an owner of this figure i have to defend it and say its not that bad. sure, it couldeve been better, but this is pretty much the only TF5 megatron figure that has that mask thing and was for normal price, so i couldnt be happier. but of course, there are the problems you pointed out

Yeah I was gonna get this one I decided not to mainly because it's dinky A little too small for a leader class but I did get the black out a few years ago that was my last transformer toy which is fine because I have every movie toy before that,, The good ones mainly
It’s so weird, Revenge of the Fallen was the high point of movie toys (mostly) and the toys (and movies) only got worse from there!
