Workers want a bigger slice of the pie - make no mistake about it. Not worth going back to a service job to get paid damn near minimum wage
While the CEOs make a ludicrous amount of $$$. I don't begrudge the CEO from being a millionaire, but for crying out loud their salaries are SO over the top!!! Millions upon millions then they get more millions in retirement. How much $$$ do CEOs need? My uncle died recently and my job was fumed over me taking a day off. Mind you I was close to my uncle and his death was SUDDEN and unexpected. I’m still shocked.
When I addressed one of my managers over this saying “hey i didn’t expect him to die this week either “ my employer said “a day off is still a day off, I don’t care what it’s for”. So callused I want to quit, not because I hate the job, but because I can’t look at her without feeling angry
Oh yeah…i haven’t taken a vacation in years soooo
Sorry you were treated that way. That's disgusting. RIP to your uncle and condolences to you and your family
We are all being accused indirectly of theft at my job. Guys are quitting because they are fed up with the poor policies, micromanagement and lack of autonomy. I'm fully vaccinated, however I still do respect and believe that it's your choice to get the vaccine do not force it on those that still have questions about it. This is the outcome of all this mandate. And just pay the people what they are worth it's the right thing to do.
Thanks!
Me too. I’m fully vaccinated but feel no one should be forced to the vaccine.

In reality, it's the pay. If people were paid more of a living wage, they can actually, you know... live.
Also, these jobs making people (like me) come back into the office when working from home worked SO well and was so much less stressful.

The narcissists need their supply. They've been alone for a long time and they can't stand it. They need to have large groups from which to choose their targets.

No one seems to talk about the people who work in education. It's been unreal. My boss and his boss went to another job and we saw record numbers of coworkers quit. We are just now in October getting back to regular numbers in the office. During all of 2020 we have had half of the employees. Employees were getting verbal abused and just quit.

Moral of the story, A LOT OF JOBS SUCK, ALONG WITH YOUR INCOME.
As many as 10,000 baby boomers are retiring every month.. It's called getting old and no longer needing to work for a living. that's part of it.
Yeah, good point there
I agree that this must be part of it. As part of the leading edge of Gen X, I had a front-row seat when Baby Boomers I worked with ended up delaying their retirements following the ~2007-2010 financial crisis. Many just seemed to go on autopilot, but it makes sense that a pandemic especially harsh on ages 65+ would jolt many out of that rut 🧐

if you are a rideshare driver and you bought a car for $40K, you will put 100K miles a year. it means your car is done in two years. it means you are going to need a new car in just 2 years. it means you already lost $20K a year from what ever you made a year.
You’re wrong. 1. Don’t buy a car for 40,000. That’s dumb. I bought a Nissan Versa from Enterprise for 10,000. Mine only had 30,000 miles on it. 2. Think of your car as a disposable SHORT TERM INVESTMENT not a long term one. With Uber Eats I make between 1500-2000 per WEEK. That’s 6,000 to 8,000 dollars gross. My gas bill is only about $120 for 7 days and because I SCAN deliveries for favorable mileage. So I’m not driving over 100-200 miles per day. Thats 1400 miles per week, 67,000 miles per year. So yes, my car would rack up over 100,000 miles in a year, BUT I made 72,000 to 96,000 before taxes and living expenses. That’s 144,000 to 192,000 in two years. Sell the old car when it becomes an issue and then use 10,000 of your Uber profits to get a new car. If you only set aside 400 bucks of your profit monthly you’d have that 10k ready to go when you needed it. It’s not as big of a deal as you’re making it out to be.Uber can be VERY profitable provided you’re in a good market and provided you actually know the hacks of driving. It really is a skill. An experienced uber eats driver will make more than a newbie.
@@LilRedRasta you wrote that you bought your car for 10K, that was in the beginning of the pandemic. I bought my Toyota fir 14K from Enterprise in PA but the real payment over the year is 29K. Enterprise don't have cars anymore for $10K. I see cars during that time for less when Enterprise and Hertz were liquidating their inventory because no one was traveling. In Manhattan driver were making $400 a day with just a bicycle. it's different from one place to another one. for me, the most important thing is to work and enjoy life. when you eat 1/3 must be food, 1/3 liquid and 1/3 air. working seven days and more than 10 hours is not healthy.
@@LilRedRasta my strategy is to have this car last more than 300K. I have it parked inside our garage every night and all seasons. I removed the front seat and I have more room inside, all my customers loved the idea and it's consuming less gas!!
@@japaneserussianbooks I actually bought my car in 2019 and I didn’t drive it much until covid started. Haven’t checked car prices recently, but there still are cars out there for that much. The used car market is huge. Heck if you know what you’re doing buy a car from Craigslist. You can ask to get the car inspected before you buy it. Before I bought this new car I had a used 2006 VW Passat that had like 70,000 miles on it and I drove that thing until it had like 200k +. I bought it for 3,500 bucks. Buying a new car when you don’t make much is dumb. Even if you bought used car with issues for 3-5,000. you could still get it fixed for less than 15,000.

Let me “help you make sense of what’s happening”. We, the workers, are tired of the BS, which includes, but is not limited to, long hours, low pay, bad or no benefits, no paid time off, no sick days, and dealing with the general public. Especially that last one!
So what are you doing to pay for your expenses?
Yep I agree general public .
A job that doesn't adequately cover basic food, clothing and shelter at 40 hours a week isn't a job. That is a joke being playing on you.
People are tired of the bs. My sister had a college degree in marketing and only got $12 an hour. Her boss was a sociopath.
Here the information you guys the experts are missing.
- To go to work, you will need a car. If you don't have a car, you can't go to work. If your car stops working, you can't go to work. All the car dealers are empty and to get a car you will need to pay a lot of money and this is what changed in the American system of work. It is a vicious cycle!!
I'm and Uber/Lyft driver and I already put 90K miles on my car since last December. I can sell this car for money with 130K miles on it and make a profit. Crazy right!!!
Here my predictions for Uber and Lyft drivers. 60% of them are going to quit because of the cars shortage.
That's why they call it the Rat Race.
Half of Chicago police being fired for not getting vaccinated seems pretty significant to me.
Workers revolution, know your worth. We are tired of working for crumbs, we are powerful.
You don't need any economist to tell that people are stressed out burnt out overworked and underpaid. Now they're trying to increase the wages to bring people back it might be a little too little too late
this is truly a disservice to workers. Id say the reasons they gave are the most minimal! most people are quiting and striking because of low pay and terrible working environments.
It seem salaries are stagnant , even adjustment to inflation and only the CEOs, managements got huge paid! Inequities. Health care professional are leaving (nurses).
It's pretty simple. Companies (and especially large corporations) need to pay living wages and facilitate upward mobility in life. They put profits over people every single time, so people are bailing at the first opportunity, and even at personal cost because the pandemic has shown that your company doesn't mind risking your life for those profits anyway.
Wages must at least match cost of living... If I work in Los Angeles, I should be able to afford to live in Los Angeles... Simple.
Companies pay the lowest wages possible and are surprised when people do the least work possible LOL.
Don't go back until you're valued!!!! We can do it!!!
These unemployment numbers will go higher when those who quit due to mandatory vaxxines. Respect for body autonomy isn't just for certain special interest groups.
It’s because most jobs suck. End of discussion lol
It does feel to me as though change only comes when enough people face mortal danger and death, and only then do we as a civilization and specifies consider withdrawing from madness and divisiness we have all convinced ourselves to live in. We always had the power to collectively change our lives by participating or withdrawing support from icons, ideas or dogmas that have defined the value of time and life.
I quit my minimum wage job this week... for one that pays 4$ more. ...
We not in in the 90s no more so company need to start paying $20, $25, $30 an hour.
