I agree, but most of us knew that already and just needed that validation and everyone to jump on board cause it had made look crazy. Like when people was like "I'm quitting my job, I'm better than this!" All these required skills and experience and most companies feel your not qualified enough be in management when they know most of them has less qualification and/or experience then you at the job and your stuck with being over qualified and under paid.

I quit my job yesterday- I was overworked, underpaid, and it was making me mean, angry, and depressed. In two weeks I'll start a position with almost the same salary, less responsibilities, more future potential, and I only have to go to the office once a month.

I just quit my job on Saturday, 20 years as a Fedex courier. After last weeks pathetic pay raise and dealing with angry customers and more expectations from management, I finally said I QUIT. My mental health has already improved in just the past 48hrs. Best decision I have EVER made!

Same here broski. 10 years after being in the warehouse, this pandemic has bought more work than peak season and they refused to accommodate workers for an increase in work. A dollar pay raise isnt worth doing a 75% increase in work over the same course of time with the expectation of getting it all done.
People are sick of being overworked, underpaid, understaffed, unappreciated, micromanaged and working in toxic work environments with horrible supervisors, coworkers, customers and conditions. it’s not worth it. When trying to get late payments removed on an active account, if it cannot be verified by the bureaus, do they remove that late payment and show on time payment for that month, show no information available for that month, or delete that account off the credit report? I want to get my late payment history corrected but not sure how disputing with the credit bureaus affects the active account if they cannot verify the information to be accurate, I wouldn't have been able to take them off if not me meeting *Credit Backdoors* ..
Absolutely true. Now we are in a high tech virtual world and we know the worth of our time.To a self skilled expert there are more ways to earn. Over work,low pay and other grievances may not prevail in future.

My friend grandma was shot in her own store for asking someone to wear a mask when it was mandated by the state. Everyone I know in service jobs have been threatened & berated multiple times. Poverty wages aren't worth it.
People in the medical field are being treated like public enemy number one. It's really insulting.

My company has an hourly pay rate cap that I've been at for the past four years. It hasn't increased since I joined the company in 2014. One of my co-workers recently went to the bosses and asked if they would raise it considering the increased cost of living and record inflation. They unequivocally told her "No, that's not going to happen." And they wonder why all the experienced people are leaving to work for their competitors. Every meeting these days is middle management crying about how they can't find enough people to fill team lead positions.
The Pandemic has made people question “what’s the point”? A whole generation of people also have woken up to the fact that life is short and now with all the trouble in the world makes life seem very much shorter.

No longer can big corporations tell their employees that they're expendable, abuse them, deny benefits and a living wage. At long last the eyes of the working class are open and they demand fair compensation, safe and humane working conditions, and competition for their labor. The rich CEO'S of companies will have to take a pay cut and pass on buying that third vacation home or that yacht just to keep their business running. The people just needed a moment's pause to realize the position they were in and that they have the real power. Without a labor force the companies are nothing but a name.
It was the pandemic that provided the pause.

This was just a matter of time. Eventually, people were going to notice how crazy it is to spend their whole lives making their bosses rich while they were barely getting by. I've been self-employed for 22 years. I could never go back to being exploited by an employer and now, finally, people are seeing this too.

Take it from someone who worked until 3am in corporate on many occasions: There's no work-life-pay balance in the US and we are now feeling the consequences.
My employer was so nervous I’d quit (I’m a professional nanny) that I got a $7000 bonus this year on top of a $1/hr raise (so now my salary is $40k year). I appreciate the great resignation movement so much 😍

I quit my job in July and got hired back in September by the same company making $13,000 more a year than I was before at a different location. What's crazy is it was technically a demotion, but now I'm making more money, getting better benefits, and my schedule is more flexible. Unfortunately work from home isn't an option in my field, but I can say without a doubt that quitting my job was the best decision I ever made

It really is irritating, I swear news companies dance around this issue. Like it's not because people are finding paths to different careers nor is it just because everyone is burnt out at least not everyone. People are tired of not being paid a living wage while then being treated like trash and disrespected by managers and customers WHILE ALSO not getting any time off. We all have 7 days a week and somehow we think it's ethical to make the standard work week take up 5 or 6 out of the 7 days in our weeks. Where is the ACTUAL life part supposed to fit in that?
I'm getting that message from the news I watch. People are getting that the issue is a living wage.
Yeah when you come home from a 12-hour shift, there should at least be something to eat in the fridge, and the fridge (and lights, and heat/air, etc) should be running.

My mom works just to stay busy and she was able to land a retail job where SHE MAKES HER OWN HOURS. She works tue-thurs 7-3. AND they are paying her 16$ an hour. She is loving it. These companies were literally bullied into being decent employers and it's about f***** time. Imagine having happy employees who don't mind coming to work- it is better for the company in the long run.
A lot of people who work in restaurants and retail have burnt out on how the rest of us behave in public. They have had it with abuse from both management and customers and who can blame them?

nobody will blame them because nobody is paying any attention to them.
Also I think a lot of people who are naturally selfish, entitled, or just socially awkward forgot how to behave in public during the pandemic. While they were locked in home, they didn't need to maintain the civil facade, now they don't remember how to put it up. Karen used to come in weekly or monthly, now there's a Karen in every line, many times per day. Every service worker had that day when the regular that made them dread coming to work showed up, now it's every day so they dread every day. They'd rather work as a receptionist or stocker or something, even for less pay (in the case of a restaurant server, several times less pay).
It's scary how entitled people are
The problem is the pandemic forced employers to layoff or furlough their employees for months. Those laid off/furloughed workers had to fend for themselves for a whole year. Once they found a way to survive without their bosses, they just can’t go back to same old job for the same old boss.
That makes logical sense. I never want someone above me telling me what to do. I take every action I can at any point in time to avoid it, since most people are idiots and incapable of leading men of high value. I'm not one of those idiots that doesn't understand science, I'm a self-taught software engineer largely capable of succeeding on my own. It's only when people show up that problems arise in my life.

and the people that were not laid off had to take more responsibilities with the same wage and getting overworked and not getting paid more made me quit my job as a meat cutter I was doing my jobs and the jobs of another after doing all my work it got to me I was stressed and not sleeping properly. I quit found a job that pays as the same as my old job but is less stressful and while I start earlier, I also get out earlier instead of working till late nights.

People are tired of dealing with rude customers they are also scared. This pandemic has affected their physical and mental health. People have lost family and friends to Covid, they’re traumatized. Employers need to incorporate group therapy sessions into the work week so people can talk about how they feel. This pandemic has taken a toll on us all. "Group therapy" by corporations is probably an extra treadmill in the company gym that they are confident nobody has time to use, and a $15 gift card for a hot yoga session in the "wellness" studio down the street. File it under one of those "perks" that has replaced wage increases for underpaid white-collar workers doing two peoples' workloads for the past 21 years. Or, if you're one of the majority of Americans that works in a low-wage "unskilled" (but apparently incredibly essential) job, maybe you get five unpaid sick days instead of four this year, assuming you've already wasted half a decade working with said company and finally quality for sick days to begin with.
lol traumatized from covid? lets take it down a dozen notches. Whats even funnier was the group therapy session in the work week. This is such an absurd idea. Some of us arent hypersensitive to the point where something so small is "traumatizing" to us. A for effort though, but terrible idea.
Any employee who has to interact in a face to face fashion with the public is under a tremendous amount of stress. Why, because the "public" can't seem to behave in an appropriate manner these days. This fact coupled with low pay and bare bones working conditions has pushed employees to their breaking point. If you don't understand what I am talking about, chances are, you are part of the problem.

I've worked in customer service jobs most of my life. Just about every coworker who quit did so because of the stress from interactions with the public or bad management, coupled with low wages.
I know for me personally, although I made decent enough money when I was a server (about 2 years), that is a job I will never do again. That was the absolute worst customer experience of my life. That and Kohl's. I don't know what it is about Kohl's, but their customers' sense of entitlement crushed my soul on a daily basis.
@@laurao3274 Unfortunately nothing about Kohl's dept stores has changed since you were there, many managers/supervisors quit after 6 months to a year. Today it's made up of mostly managers that like being bossy and high schoolers.
It's always been stressful to interact face to face with the public; it's just gotten worse over the last couple of years. On one level, I understand that everyone is having a hard time with the pandemic, but some of us are trying our best not to take it out on other people, and others are...not.

My income is about what it was in the mid-1980s. If not for my wife's income in the past couple of decades, I would not be able to survive. This says a lot about the epidemic of greed in the U.S.
Here in Germany, I choose to stay on welfare (Hartz IV) and work for some hours, that are allowed, until I finished a decent education. So my rent (social housing), health care and heating bills are covered by the state. Plus I get 440€ for food and stuff plus 110€ for public transportation (Because I have to travel to my doctor a lot). I can work a little so I earn 180€ , which are made in a couple hours. So I can spend the rest of my time to educate myself. Living in a welfare state has it's (literally) benefits.

Well, we are living in the outcome of trickle-down economics where powerful people, as predicted, withheld as much as possible from the people who built their empires. Let's stop trying to figure out what's “going on” with workers (because we already know) and start talking about what's wrong with companies. Its normal and expected that people get fed up with misstreatment, it's egregious and abusive that companies mistreat workforces. Let's talk about that.

I feel like retail, essential, and non-office workers should also get beneficial perks, bonuses, and some flexible time to take a break and fewer business hours. Sometimes more hour doesn´t really make more money...
I always tell people, if you want to develop a true hatred for your fellow human beings: Work in Retail. You have to deal with the public. Customers are so entitled and think they are always right and treat you like garbage.
Try a call center and the micromanagement is digital a d they come up with a graph/ spread sheet showing your performance nitpicking everything
Retail is horrible, I agree. I worked at a Target store while in school. Holidays is the worse time. To this day, I straighten products on shelves and put things back where they belong.

A lot of the American workforce is realizing how little they are valued by businesses and corporations. People don't wanna go to a job that will put them at risk of getting infected with a potentially debilitating and deadly virus for a paltry $11 an hour 40 hours a week, no health insurance, and bosses who see them as disposable for a profit.

@@DarkoFitCoach Thanks to the delta variant and the embarrassingly large number of unvaccinated Americans, being the only vaccinated worker in an unvaccinated workplace still puts the individual at risk of getting sick. Yes, they're unlikely to get severely ill or die, but even less severe COVID cases are _really_ unpleasant and can place family and friends at risk. In particular, parents with children too young to be vaccinated would be placing their kids at risk.

Not to mention depending on the type of job one may have to deal with customers who may not be vaxxed as well. Just take a walk around your local store and see how many people don't wear masks properly or at all.

You're right. "Forced" vaccination isn't a thing in the US. However, while the rest of us try to move on, the substantial pool of unvaccinated people serve as hosts to maintain the infection and allow it to mutate, potentially into a variant more deadly than what we've seen so far. Ignorance is going to keep getting people killed, and ultimately it places my loved ones at risk.
I've noticed that just a few months ago, anti-vaxxers were all up in arms saying that the vaccine wasn't safe enough for them, despite all the testing. Then when it became clear that there were no significant risks to vaccination, they started complaining that it wasn't 100% effective. Now, these same people are complaining about mandates, as though they _would_ have gotten vaccinated, but now they're taking a stance against it because of "freedom."
We know you aren't getting vaccinated. We know you don't care about your own health, and care even less for the health of those around you. You don't need to keep proclaiming your selfishness in public.
People are tired of being overworked and under appreciated. The better the worker you are, the more work is dumped on you because the higher ups “know you will get the work done” as opposed to holding the usual suspects on your team who do as less work as possible, accountable. People have started taking their mental health seriously and not taking the emotional abuse from their bosses anymore.

Nail on the head. It gets so frustrating. I’m a supervisor, and my employees make more than I do. I used to make 4 or 5 dollars more to be promoted. I have more responsibility, more work, and I have to pay for my benefits. I’ve worked there for 9 years, and most of my coworkers have max of 2 years experience. It all gets put on me. Except…they sometimes make more than I do. It’s ridiculous.
I quit on a nasty boss after only 17 days on the job, that boss quit after 6 months I learned. Now I work for a great boss/company. My stress levels down

They are working me harder than ever. I'm having a hard time adjusting after being under unemployment. 60+ hours a week. Not my first time. It's just hitting different.

I quit 2 jobs around August, Both didnt give me the flexibility or pay I needed during a pandemic. Ive been exploited more and have had bad relationships with management on certain jobs so I decided to quit the moment I saw it again and again. Ever since our stimulus checks and days off, I decided I wanted to do what I wanted. Got my own place, got married to my girl, and now im joining the army to do a job I have alot of interest in. I realized working for these companies has no value whatsoever and its nothing but stress and time wasting for crumbs. This country needs to change, I hope more people quit and stand together and demand change

Keep thinking that the pandemic is about to replace you all with robots! The jobs people are leaving majority are entry level and will be forced to close without workers.

Retail workers aren’t under Nike. They are franchises. All the factories are in China. So technically Nike gave all it’s employees a week off.

When you say "boss" do you mean warren buffett, jeff bezos or the guy who has half a dozen employees? It's this myth that every business owner is rich it's absurd look the average McDonald's franchisee has 40 employees and when all is said and done he makes 152k/yr (a verifiable figure published my McDonald's itself)...in my city you are making that after 6 years on the police force and that's with no investment or college degree.
@@37Dionysos btw there are no statutes preventing a business from outsourcing or moving entirely the exception would be military contractors who are required to make certain goods in the us because the military cannot have supply chain issues in the event of war.
@@unclejoe6811 I simply stand with most American workers who say that if a business which took everything from them and US infrastructure/environment to build itself wants to then abandon it all for more profit overseas, let the parasites go---and if we had a gov't for working people they would pay through the nose for such betrayal. I quit a job I loved and was loyal to for nearly 8 years and quit due to the owner’s true colors becoming ever so vibrant during the pandemic. I have quit several jobs this year and it has been so liberating.
I can relate, I’m sorry to hear that. I also quite a job that I love so much as well and when I say love, I mean REALLY love. I gave my resignation letter to my director balling my eyes out. And now it’s hard to find a stable job for me and it’s sad. Wish you all the best. 🙏🏼

According to economic reports, there's no place in America that one minimum wage can even afford one single bedroom apartment. No wonder Americans are quitting their jobs.

Nobody is getting federal minimum wage tbh. Lots of restaurants here are offering 15-17 but still can't fulfill positions.

Its a difficult situation. Every time middle wage goes up here in Cali, so does everything else. When every food item is $1 more, gas goes up, rent raises every few months to a year, is the higher minimum wage really helping? In TN minimum wage is half of what it is in CA but everything in CA is 2-4× more than in TN

it's not that these jobs are not sustainable. These jobs always existed. It's that we are now paying people to do nothing so there's no incentive to get these jobs
I work in a school. When teachers quit, there is a lot of fallout. Classrooms have to close not just because someone was exposed to COVID, but because there are no teachers. Then, we have either offer a remote learning environment or a hybrid, which creates more teacher burnout, and it continues to socially & emotionally isolate children and families. Teachers NEVER did it for the money but now some are not even doing it for the KIDS!
When I worked in retail for about a year and a half when I was about…19 or 20ish. Doing the whole college+work grind. A year passed by so quick of grinding away it scared me. Working retail was soul destroying and pushed me to the point of near suicide. I asked myself “is this really what I want for my life?” I took a vacation to NYC for a week. Came back and quit my job and went into doing things I loved instead, thankfully I’m a talented artist is most respects. I started a business when I was 22, three years later I could never imagine doing anything else. Im glad that other people are waking up to the fact that, they don’t HAVE to do miserable work their entire lives. And can just….go do something else. Life’s over in the blink of an eye, people should spend their time experiencing it instead of slaving away at something they no longer care about.
They need to pay us more. There's no freaking Cap on landlord rent policies, cost of living is inflating. They haven't updated the minimum wage since 2009 federally. Pay us a living wage you corporations

@Sean Embry Same. I quit a job after they changed management, got rid of benefits, and at one point even took away my access to our scripting program (I was a script jockey at the time). Ended up finishing a degree (COVID stopped me from going further) and getting a higher paying job that had better hours and just overall a better actual job (general IT/software dev).

From my first civilian job I told the employer, I don’t need you, but you need me, and I quit the next day, found another job the third day, and since then every next job I quit because of a better paid job. Until now because the salary is lower than the previous one, but they are better, 6 weeks of paid annual leave, paid sick leave, started as auxiliary worker and in one year shift manager, 4 minutes from home and no more field work.

It's funny because Kaiser Permanente started pharmacy techs at $18/hr. CVS (other retail included) started people off at minimum wage. Now that Walmart realized that turnover was so high that they increased starting rate to $20. Retail is following. Kaiser Permanente is losing staff now because they want to lower the starting rate for nurses and other staff across the board. Striking is the only option for them.

I left my retail job because we were short staffed and they were bleeding us dry. I was a part time employee but they gave me full time hours for part time pay. The amount of people we had to deal with was too much for only the few of us there. And then having co workers who would regularly call out causing those of us that showed up given a bigger workload.
For my mental health I left. I was a ball of anxiety and my depression skyrocketed. I was just miserable.

Being short staffed is the worst. I worked in food service, and the expectation for us to work short staffed, or work for no pay, was exhausting. When I stepped down from managing, they cut my pay rate for it within a week, saying that offering me $15/hour (which was what I needed to pay my bills to accept the position) was a horrible decision. After I stepped back into delivery driving, my boss was complaining that I wasn’t acting like a manager anymore, and that even though I drove again I should still be a leader and in charge. I lost my confidence in my ability to lead, and I finally got out in June to my new job, where I’m still dealing with the after effects of being broken.
I don’t think some people understand what we went through after the lockdown stopped and THEY wanted to get back to normal. We never had that opportunity. And at my job, it seemed people became MORE impatient and expected the same service pre-lockdown when there were less of us to do it. Somehow people are surprised about it all, when to those of us “essential workers” there is no surprise at all.

Perhaps it's because we were told we aren't essential, for many very hard to accept. Now we are expected to jump to work to get the economy and life back on track, very essential to the profit margins. We are awake to this, no people no profit, power to the people.
Fun fact: did you know that the Black Death contributes to the decline of the Feudal system in Europe especially in England... That is because the peasants demands to be paid more as they do more workload due to the deaths caused by the plague, and the feudal lords do not want to do that because it will cause them their funds to employ people...
So we could see that the current situation have arise that same scenario as the previous plagues have done to the workforce ...

It's funny that the supervisors were the one who suggested the promotion. And then I got a Viber message that my contract expired and it will not be extended. Not even goodbye from the bosses only from close colleges. That was the most unprofessional moment that I encountered in a work place. 😏
And let’s be honest most of these bosses, managers, ceos didn’t work hard for their position. It was about who they knew and nepotism. Most of them don’t know anything about the work it takes for the positions below them.
The Great Resignation was a long time coming. Employers have been suppressing remote work and work from home for more than 50 years. It was bound to happen eventually. The pandemic just sped things up by at least a decade.

There are businesses in my town that have reduced hours and signs up apologizing for the wait because they’re “short handed”. And there are other businesses that are doing just fine. I do my part to help those “short handed” businesses to not get overwhelmed by not patronizing them. Maybe they will rethink their business plans to include living wages and benefits for their workers- and then they won’t be so “short handed.”
People are tired of demeaning garbage jobs where they get treated like animals by both the business and the customers, all for pay that can't sustain a single person.
i was one of those people until recently. i gave the boss the shaft and started becoming a better person in all constructs to a better job.
We were finally forced to not be “productive” 24/7 and realize there’s more to life than just work eat sleep repeat. We’re done working for the weekend. We’re done being slaves to capitalism. We’re done dealing with unsafe, understaffed, micromanaged working conditions. I’m really proud of all of us. We’re taking back control and making the lives of those who’ve lived the most comfortably for years, off our backs, a little less comfortable. Power to the people
Now we just need to ensure it goes all the way to fixing things and we don't back off once they pretend to give us what we need, and make sure the fine print doesn't say that fixes are temporary

The problem for low-wage workers isn't that they were working for the weekend, it was that they never had a weekend. Working 2 jobs & 7 days a week and still barely surviving: it's no wonder they're all quitting!!
I'm surprised you didn't mention healthcare workers. It's not a pay issue, but the nursing shortage is real. I just left a bedside position I'd held for 18+ years. Exhausted, burned out and realized I have to choose my own health now.
I was only offered $13 an hour for an ER job this week. They can keep that job open. Retail pays better and less dangerous.

It isn't just nursing. I work in a hospital lab and our department of pathology is at 50% staffing. We're on the verge of collapse and can't get any new hires due to risk, poor pay, and bureaucracy.

This has been a long time coming. I've been in the workforce for 20 years with people who've had nervous breakdowns, attempting/committing suicide, going to mental rehab for months on end. We all work too much without enough break and the Pandemic was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Funny how video misses one crucial reason. During lockdowns majority of restaurants, hotels and retails were closed and they fired majority of their employees. By the time these companies need their workers back, they have already changed their careers, because they, well, had to eat something while their old job was closed.
That wasn't really the point of the video though. The video is talking about workers who quit in recent months. More specifically last August 2021. You're talking about businesses needing employees to fill in vacant jobs. That's a different thing.
And, you're missing the point in that those jobs were always transient, Nd simply a stop off gig on the way to something better; they were always high-turnover gigs and there was always someone lined to replace them. People leaving now is more of the same, just en masse this time, with not as many in line to replace.
I was a bit ahead of the curve here. I left two years ago after I had enough of a gaslighting boss, and an HR department that positioned my issues as if they were my fault. I left, recovered mentally, watched as my former employer listed my position as a director’s position (which they argued with me wasn’t worth above an entry level managers position) and just concentrated on taking care of my family and tasks at hand. When ready I found a position with a hybrid schedule, paying more (like 20k more) for less work and less responsibility. Now I happily work in a non toxic work community, as a VALUED team member. It’s true, know your worth. There ARE companies out there that will value your experience and skill set, and pay for it! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

I'm an educator in food and nutrition and the pandemic forced me to change course. I didn't want to go back into the classroom or in the restaurant industry. Luckily, I have my admin skills to fall back on with a bachelors and I started a cooking show on UA-cam during quarantine. I walked out of a job just 2 days after 2 days of training. Those employees want so much out of you with little pay. We're woke Trevor. That's what's happening. I'll live on my savings while I continue job hunting. I'm determined to find a new career that's worthy of me and pays me well. Those companies have really lost their minds.

People are finally realizing that if the choices are a job that doesn't give you enough to live on, and unemployment that doesn't give you enough to live on, the second option is a lot less stressful and depressing.
If I’m gonna be broke anyway, I might as well get some sleep.
The only time I wasn’t depressed was when I was at home during lockdown without any guilt for reading books and playing music.

yeah... I worked retail for years pre-pandemic: not enough to live on, verbal abuse constantly from customers... if only it paid enough and guaranteed 40 hours a week, but it didn't. It just wasn't worth it. Why should I take a job that subjects me to that much abuse and anxiety if I can't even make rent with it?

So it's in the ceos best interest to not give out pay increases. Just enough to keep talent but no more. As has been seen by large companies, it's better to employee people overseas and make millions as CEO, than to make a million and keep an entire town employed.

I believe a lot of what was presented, but many quit because of mandates. They quit because they realized family was more important. They realized money isn't the most important thing. People also found out that the rest of the developed world was getting better pay and benefits than them. All and all, they are tired of being abused by people that don't appreciate them anyway. The truth is, their wealth is based on people working. They are tired of being F'ed over. They make million and you starve. I hope it continues to let the rich know who is really in charge.

We the people don't get enough compensation when we work. We're forced to work harder and harder and forced to compete against machines. Machines that are replacing our jobs and making us more expendable.
During this whole time the companies only get richer and richer. Workers don't get paid more instead we get payed as low as possible.
Companies only get more and more powerful. No new companies come along and when they do they struggle to succeed. They only really succeed when they already have a lot of money at the start.

We used to have protection from age discrimination but the Supreme Court ripped it out in 2009. And it's gotten increasingly worse since then.
So don't I don't buy companies complaining they can't find workers for a second. And what's even worse is the older workers would stick while the younger workers often leave very quickly. My daughter hired someone and put them in in an important position and they left two weeks later.
What makes me mad is that there are many jobs that require employees to stand on hard floors for their entire shift for absolutely no reason. Even jobs that aren’t customer serving. I would go back to the hotel industry but most hotels make you stand your entire shift “because it looks better” somehow. I wouldn’t care if I went to check in or went to the gas station and their clerk was on a stool. No one wants to destroy their body for poverty wages. I had workmans comp because I got Achilles tendonitis from standing on hard floors 9+ hours a day. The only time you were allowed to sit was on the toilet. If you were lucky enough to get a bathroom break.
More and more people are having to rely on what are called "entry level" jobs to survive. Well, with technology allowing companies to work with less people, coupled with the cost of getting a degree to get those higher paid but less available positions, I don't think any job should be considered "entry level" anymore. It's just a term people use as an excuse to not pay workers what is more important, a "living wage."

Secondly, a person who finds full-time, well-paid work is often leaving 2-3 part-time jobs - necessary to make ends meet. This means that one departing worker might leave 2-3 openings.
Yeah they act like everything exists in a vacuum. Like the people who go "just go get a high paying stem job" like dude, first off there aren't that many stem jobs for every single adult who wants one. And then 2nd just like you pointed out, life isn't in a vacuum, you leave a job, then that job left is open still. 🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️. I don't understand why people just don't seem to get this stuff.

They are offering fewer hours so that the company does not offer health insurance. This is the scheme that the majority of employers are doing. So, jobs are there but there is no guarantee of health insurance and this is what most if not everyone is looking for. The money may be great but then you gotta pay out-of-pocket health insurance, which is very costly.

In Germany it would be forbidden to handle such weight with one person (maximum for a YOUNG man:121 pounds, after that limit only under very special conditions and for very short time carrying more weight would be allowed) . I don't know how the situation is in the US but your boss might be breaking labour laws. If you get hurt you should sue the sh... out of him. Document what you are lifting there so that you have proof later on.

I was at a meeting the other day and they stated they were planning on bringing back 90% of the people that are working from home right now. It is so funny how out of touch the upper management is sometimes.
Even if they don't bring them back now, give it a year or two whenever things balance back out, and all those promises and other non-sense will end up with people being told to bend over or get fired.

The sole reason to bring folks back to the office is for control. At home, an 8hr work day may look like 2 hrs working, 1 hr break, 1 hr working, 2 hrs break, 1 hr break, 1 hr work. The same amount of work gets done compared to the employee being in the office for 8 hrs, except the company pays the employee 8 hrs to work 4 hrs. Back in the office, they can control the employee more and ensure they're paying them for 8 hrs of work.

After 30+ years in nursing, I am more than burned out. I have abused myself mentally, physically, and emotionally for so long that I am now physically, mentally, and emotionally broken.

Pay your employees a true living wage and affordable benefits and they won't resign. I worked in HR in the tech industry. We called it Return on Investment. Invest in your employees and keep them happy.

It’s a balance. Stable doesn’t mean rich. If you can live below your means then it is possible. Some people live in camper vans and is happy. I think this is more true for people living in more rural areas. It’s hard to be finically stable when your dependent on everything and not yourself.
I strongly believe that we were born to live a “purposeful life”. And sad to say that most jobs do not allow us time to even think about that. We were born to be way better than sacrificing so much for a company that doesn’t compensate us fairly! I agree!

Assault is for the police to deal with. Rudeness needs to be told to leave. Now it's different if you work in public service, it's harder to just turn people away. But nobody should be allowed to mistreat employees and that is management's job to enforce.

I quit my job as a DSP because of low pay after years of service and the work load was getting more and more for the same pay and it’s a thankless position where we are caring for people with special needs and low pay to back it up. They need to change that because at the end of the day you get what you pay for. We are going to be older one day and if nursing homes and such don’t pay their staff to care they won’t, it’s scary and sad.
Am one of them who quit working as a patient care after working the whole pandemic with covid patients and never got any bonus or benefits. Am loving my unemployment life now

My job could have easily been remote. My employer refused to allow us to work remotely even when the weather was too bad to drive on the roads due to ice we had to use our precious vacation time.

They’ve been saying that the demand for workers is really high and I have noticed way more “now hiring” signs than usual but I also saw a report of some guy who tried to test this out sending a lot of applications with no luck
