Old guy, new sledder here. Wow! this seems to make way too much sense! Is there a downside doing it this way? More than likely I'll be in the backcountry when I need to change a belt. Any chance of damaging the splines?
No, you're not going to hurt the splines moving it around by hand. I made it look harder than necessary to put it back on in the video, I was standing at the wrong angle trying to not block the camera.
This seems much smarter, faster, and easier but I don't know if I can trust a snowmobile tech tip video that isn't at least half footage of jumps and with a lot more electric guitar ;)
Is there a recommended torque spec for that bolt? If not how tight would you reccomend and/or what size wrench and should you use any Loctite? Mine is a 2013 if it matters.
It's a 9/16" wrench I believe. No idea what the torque spec is...tight enough so it doesn't fall off but not so tight that you strip the threads. I don't put loctite on it. 2013 is a different clutch so you should probably check your service manual.
Good video, plain and simple
Corked 7 seconds in. Quick little video pullin belts 😉😉😉

The side cover on my 2006 Bearcat interferes with pulling the clutch all the way off. Can't find an easy way to remove panel for better access.
So simple….it’s elegant.
Thanks my friend it worked great 👍
Awesome thank you 🙂
When I put my bolt back in and washers etc, why won't it tighten upto the clutch during install?
Belt is sitting too low to allow the clutch to open up all the way. Tighten bolt, start sled, spin track on a stand and it'll set itself.
Awesome, TY!

Okay thanks. It looks a lot like my clutch and my manual does mention the bolt/gizmo flipping technique.
32 ft/ib
How do I loosen the belt, if it’s too tight
Remove washers. Check out the service manual, it will explain it clearly.
can belt be adjusted on this clutch?
Yes. Add or remove shims on the gizmo behind the bolt.
Impressive
I like dat!
