  • Hello and welcome to my channel!
Today's video is somewhat of a continuation of my previous video where I decluttered my side of the closet. I thought that I would make an attempt at selling some of what I had for some big money. All I can say is that I am shocked by how much I actually got! Lessons were learned!
My name is Theresa and I am a Professional Organizer that just loves to clean, tidy, organize & declutter! I am an (almost) empty-nester, my youngest son is in college and my daughter is in her mid-20's and the most awesome Special Needs kid you will ever meet. You may see her oftentimes in these videos because she loves to organize as well! I also have a husband, Keith, who has more of a hoarding tendency but I give him kudos for trying to keep up with my need to tidy!
If you know of anyone in or around Charlotte, NC that would like help tidying up and would allow me to show their progress on this channel, please shoot me an email at service@tidywiththeresa.com and I'd be happy to help!
Here are some links that can get you started below (I may get "credit" for some of these just so you know, but it helps my channel so Thanks!).

It seems like this is happening everywhere. I had the same experience, Theresa.
If anyone out there gets fed up trying to sell their gently used clothes, Dress For Success is a great organization that helps disadvantaged women get either back into the work force or further themselves (no, I don't work for them , lol).

Try Mercari? I sell in bundles like "tops bundle" "summer dress bundle" and people seem more willing to purchase those rather than one item at a time.

Hopefully you get tons of blessing from giving away your clothes xx

I buy a lot of shoes from Goodwill (so many like new/like new shoes!!) pretty much. I also always keep tags on clothes I buy, unless I actually wear them. That way, if I don't wear them, I can sell them "BNWT" on Poshmark/Ebay/Mercari/etc and get more money than at a consignment shop. I have also cut WAY back on buying clothes. I know it sucks.

I’ll have to get online selling tips from you. I dread it. Lol.

@@TidyWithTheresa yea, it isn't a lot of fun, but you get more of your money back. Thankfully, most sites have streamlined listing within their app. ;)

Local consignment has changed! I used to make 500.00 per season selling work clothes that were Talbot quality. Not so anymore. I'm having good luck on Mercari and Poshmark. Lots of videos out there to help you learn the ropes. It does take time though and I understand just wanting it GONE! Last month we rented an appartment size dumpster...TWICE! Made great progress in getting on to our decluttered life. Can you imagine the pain of tossing Pottery Barn items that no longer fit your lifestyle? Learning is EXPENSIVE! Learn the lesson fast and move on. Dont look back. Great, inspiring videos. Wish you lived closer. I'd hire you and your daughter to help me with my closets. Happy New Year!!!

Great video! I agree it's not worth it unless you just really have the time. I used to try and sell the kids clothes that were all name brands. I would get like $5.00. I would get SO mad lol I'd rather just give them away now I guess

You'd probably have better luck selling them at a garage sale.

For real! I can't even sell a formal on poshmark for $32.

Teresa, I experienced the same thing. Postmark, for all the work and time it takes, not worth it. And buyers expect you to drop your cost to nothing. Consignment, same experience as you. They took a few of high quality items, turned down bran-new shoes because they didn't take size 11. Weird. For your running shoes, maybe try a second hand sporting goods store.

I wish I hadn't let them take those running shoes for so little money. You are right, I could have sold them for much more. Lesson learned. :)

Typically these consignment shops and clothes mentors are trying to sell your items at 70% off retail value. So they are only going to give you about 10%-15% of their value. So those Brooks running shoes for example, they sell all day long on ebay for $45-$50 a pair. Thats why they were able to give you $6. Clothes mentor is likely going to price them at 20-24 to sell in their store because they have a limited market subject to that area & what people shopping in that one Clothes Mentor will buy. Hope this helps!

Try to sell them on Facebook market place or offer up

  • @rlolo777

They won't give you much money because they have to sell it at a profit, sp what you need to do is sell it directly to the consumer on poshmark or letgo or Ebay.
