@@eugenegd2112I’ve listened to many many bands of many different genres, I love rock music as a whole… Id have to respectively disagree though. Zepplin played extremely standard blues rock, and I’ve always had a hard time considering them as anything more than just straight forward rock. I’ll give you Steppenwolf, they might have predated The Who and Hendrix’s use of “controlled feedback” but I’d almost liken them to the “Seattle Sound” with them having more in common with other “proto grunge” artists like Neil Young so I still wouldn’t consider them metal ancestors.
@@PrestonHazard I never implied you haven't listened to many bands or genres. However, labeling ANY version of "When the Music's Over" as proto-metal is a little far-fetched actually. This song takes me back to winter of 98. I was in high school and my uncle was battling cancer. We lost him by year's end. I remember I would just play this album and disappear in the music.
Just Robby and John are still alive as of this moment. Jim joined the 27 Club in 1971 and Ray Manzarek passed on ten years ago. The Doors were ahead of their time and stood their ground against The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and so on during the mid to late 1960s. Jim had bravado, virility, swagger, machismo and rawness in his voice.
First song I ever heard on the radio by The Doors was Light My Fire. Been in love ever since. This song, Light My Fire and Spanish Caravan are definitely in the top 5 for me. Never can forget The Poet
The thing that most distinguishes The Doors from most artists is their very high I would say pure level of inspiration in composing music and lyrics that seem to come from another world, another dimension, a parallel universe. It seems that the use of psychotropic plants by these extraordinary four artists has produced the effect of receiving artistic inspiration in the form of subliminal communication or even silent knowledge, as Carlos Castaneda and Frank G. Ripel have spoken in their books. These 4 extraordinary men managed to open "The doors of perception", as Aldous Huxley says in his book of the same name and having opened them they managed "... to perceive the infinite" according to the thought of the English poet William Blake. After all, the 4 artists have repeatedly declared that during their "travels" with Peyote they have communicated with an Indian shaman and with an entity that Don Juan of Castaneda would have called "Mescalito", according to Indian tradition. In conclusion, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison are the 4 Pharaohs of human artistic history, the 4 faces of the God Janus transposed into music and constitute the 4 pyramids of music, poetry, literature and philosophy of life, in a human artistic desert in many ways disheartening when you think of today's commercial music. The Doors are a gift that the Gods of Skies wanted to give to mankind, they are a great sign of discontinuity in the history of the modern art scene. No one was like them or will be like them.
That’s a rare footage .. thank you for this ❤️🔥🎬 Jim’s on 🔥 ,here ooh my that man’s beauty and appeal overflowing & overheating.Mesmerising creature. What I really appreciate in this band is that they’re so well cordinated and synced with each other, performing with such ease, making it look effortless. The flip side of "Touch Me", I'll tell you, this got played much more than the "A" side. Drawn in by Robbie's guitar sound, I didn't know much about slide playing when I was 9 but I knew what I liked!
The band members told him directly he was ruining his health with alcohol, and he admitted he knew it. But he sought no help---maybe too proud to seek it. Of course, back in the late 60s and early 70s these alcohol treatment programs didn't exist like today. Fifty years ago, the alcoholic often had to check into a state/county hospital or such which might also serve as the psychiatric center (the nut house). There was a stigma attached. Nevertheless, Morrison self destructed over a five year span. Creative geniuses often do, although self destruction is not a prerequisite.
This is fantastic....how thay put this together...this is how great music is born....the doors are the only band could do this song....there are so many...that most people don't know or don't listen too

I played classical guitar for 40 years after hearing the intro on Spanish Caravan. I'm not sure if Robbie played the acoustic start. Robbie was very CREATIVE, rather than fast & flashy. I've always been awestruck by all four geniuses. Morrison sent me on an insane journey through incredible literature & poetry i.e. Nietzsche, NOB Love's Body & Ferenczi's Thalassa. Can one tie Jim to Norman O. Brown, Ferenczi, Jeff Epstein as child abduction/torture provider, Mossad and MKULTRA? I suspect so. Read this wiki bio on Ferenczi, there are parallels. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1ndor_Ferenczi

when you're young summer days last for frikkin ever...
This
My favorite band
Just Robby and John are still alive as of this moment. Jim joined the 27 Club in 1971 and Ray Manzarek passed on ten years ago. The Doors were ahead of their time and stood their ground against The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and so on during the mid to late 1960s. Jim had bravado, virility, swagger, machismo and rawness in his voice.
The Doors, the best American band period. Great band!
That was one awesome rehearsal! You get to see the formation of one of their greatest songs ever!
That was some classic footage thanks for putting that up there!!
The Doors wish they were still together what a great band! Rip Jim and Ray......
凄い才能のぶつかり合い‼️ジムの早世が惜しまれる。🎵🎶バンド🎸🎤🎶👌
1:09 RRREMEMBER WWHEN WWE WWERRE IN AFFRRRICA?!!! YEEEAHH!!
very good!!
+The Foxy grandpa Nope glad I never went there.
Yeah I'd never heard anyone end a song like that before.
He lives there
1:37 😂😂😂
Absolutely incredible work! My favorite piece by the Doors hands down
such a great video to see them play Wild Child so perfectly. What a creative piece of art this song was.
Robby’s guitar is just so funky. It’s funny back in the 60’s and 70’s you knew the whole band and they all contributed to the sound.
Its caIIed sIide & he's one of the best at it.
This song always makes me wish Robbie played more slide on their albums.
Love this video of the doors working in the studio seeing how things got done !!!
I love these kinds of behind the scene videos...
Yeah it makes you feel like you’re apart of the band and it adds more humanity to the music
Simply wonderful ! They were projected on the future- I think their sound is still moderno and new even 55 years after
First song I ever heard on the radio by The Doors was Light My Fire. Been in love ever since. This song, Light My Fire and Spanish Caravan are definitely in the top 5 for me. Never can forget The Poet
Rimbaud of the music industry.. back than, still & forever .. no singer can or will ever match Morrison.
Excellent drum sound.
Tunes still hold up even today mr Morrison. U are an icon
That’s a rare footage .. thank you for this
❤️🔥🎬 Jim’s on 🔥 ,here ooh my that man’s beauty and appeal overflowing & overheating.Mesmerising creature.
What I really appreciate in this band is that they’re so well cordinated and synced with each other, performing with such ease, making it look effortless. Everyone’s a master of each one instrument creating something so wholeheartedly complementary.
Who doesn't love Jim?
The police?
Wow,This is absolutely some of the best footage ever! Don't overblow jim you gotta long way to go,...why not?...just the expression in the cut makes me feel like i would have an idea of what it would be like to hang with morrison...its incredible the amount of communication that has to go on to record a great album, they all kill it!
One if my fave B-Sides. Yes, I bought the Touch Me single...amazing band! ❤✌
The doors - The Absolute DEFINITION of Rock n Fuckin Roll...
Ray is the man. You can tell he's piloting this ship (band).
Morrison in a studio in LA in late '68 dismantling 2000 years of Western history.
Come on people one take. Jim man what a genius to get the band around his crazy AWESOME poetry. Turn it into timeless classics.
The flip side of "Touch Me", I'll tell you, this got played much more than the "A" side. Drawn in by Robbie's guitar sound, I didn't know much about slide playing when I was 9 but I knew what I liked!
no one records like that anymore - that's when the music was honest and spontaneous
yeah..sure,you think.people on budget do.
Gold! This video is gold. What a great band. Here they are in their natural habitat. If only we could have saved Jim.
The best American band ever!!!
GREAT CLIP! GREAT SONG!
The bass player was Doug Lubahn, that's him swigging from the coke bottle at 2.05.
This is fantastic....how thay put this together...this is how great music is born....the doors are the only band could do this song....there are so many...that most people don't know or don't listen too
I just read John Densmores book called riders on the storm, it was really good.
Really
That was an excellent book.
Guess everyone has to die sometime..but today Ray's passing made me so sad..the consolation? knowing i was able to listen to The Doors when nobody would listen to me. I found strength in Jim's confidence, Ray's go for it attitude and brilliant musicianship..the world is such a lesser place without you Ray. time to kick back and join The Soft Parade
I never knew their guitarist was that good
I played classical guitar for 40 years after hearing the intro on Spanish Caravan.
There is an "official" doors channel on youtube which featrures guitar lessons with Robbie where he shows you how to play the songs. This is the Spanish Caravan one: ua-cam.com/video/-CxA6Qgj7GA/v-deo.html
as he is on every doors song, cmon .
"Do it, Robbie, do it" - Jim in Roadhouse Blues
His Guitar Pickups can Go From Smooth To Wildly Piercing, Pardon the song Pun.... Hypnotizing Just Like a "Song Of the Sirens" Overtone
Best American band of the 60s , it’s the sound of that era at say along with they four lads from Liverpool
Wow this is history . You see it happening but it's coming from another world . Spiritual
Most definitely on an ethereal mystic plane
Funny! They don't let us see the Bassplayer,he's always anonym. But on studiorecords there is a Bassguitar.Manzarek played the Bass on the Organ at the Concerts...
This is November 2019 and that bass player just died this past week, at 71 years old.
Manzeryk did all the bass tracks on the studio recordings. He was an awesome bass player. But yes live he played the bass with his left hand on lower organ
@@ericfloyd9917 No he didn't Carol Keys and Lubahn played some of them.
He’s right there at 2:07.
Love Jim so much always ❤️
John Densmore the man with the coolest shirt in the room and a great drummer.
I remember watching this in the early 90s on VHS.
Comme je suis contente de voir CA. Merci ...
1:24 hahahah so cute love Jim
Only 393,223 views!! What's wrong with the world? Man, that voice was way ahead! And can't you already just about see the beard and the blues peekin' through? I want a time machine, too!
Jim is so silly I LOVE it lol ❤️
Classic song and really cool behind the scenes footage. I think this version is included on the Doors DVD that came out about twenty years ago jam packed with music videos, interviews and live performances the name of the DVD alludes me. Nothing beats playing a Doors record a d having some cold ones lose yourself in the music.
i fucking love jim
nobody understood him in his time, even his "friends"
Ray clearly understood him. And so did Robbie and John.
I love this footage of The Doors and I never thought how talented they really were in the studio and Jim Morrison was completely different than any frontman ever in rock history and I think it's just a honor to be a Long time Doors fan after my late dad did in his hey day and every night I was thinking about him because he was a fan before me because I know so
music that has no end
@Rockshift999 I couldn't agree more man... I always say, "If i was to name but one band to be the best the world has ever seen, i would name The Doors".
They had everything, and this version of Wild Child just blows me away !
That was bad ass, I've always liked the arrangement. It has been said, there are things that are known...
....and there are things that are unknown, in between....there are *The DOORS*
I have always liked the doors music since I was a child. At a carnival I once heard a song that blew my mind, and I knew it had to be the doors. Never forgot it. Then in high school I started becoming a doors fan. Expressing my admiration for the doors my causin told me that they are coming out with a movie about them. I was psyched. I am a musician in a very talented band. But they aren't doors fans! WTF!!!!
By the way, I discovered the song at the carnival was spanish caravan. And I ended up seeing the movie at the cinema.
That’s real music
Great time!!! I love the Doors and their fantastic, timeless MUSIC!!!
This is the regular version edited to some footage, not a rare version. Though the footage might be rare.
Vidi decine di volte in vhs queste prove e allora come adesso mi sembrano sempre stupende!
oh god...this music 💓
mighty good bass playing
love the groove
Its amazing to hear the band in a "live "setting and production and to hear what the live studio is hearing and what the studio version comes up with as far as the original recording sound is...I'm blown away.
And yes in this video JIMBO is present
Oh, the things you can discover on Facebook. Fantastic to see the band working their magic in the studio. One thing interesting to me is how you can hear the bass player messing around before the take, so he’s there, but they don’t show him at all on camera. I guess they just wanted to feature the core members.
