    Hi mate, i'm currently in the market for a scooter and I'm stuck between the Downtown 350i abs and the Honda Forza 300. How is the bike so far? Any problems with it? Are you happy with it? How many KM's have you done so far? Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions :) When you were in the market to buy a scooter did you check the honda forza 300? What do you think about it?

      I've own the original Downtown 200i for 2 years so I can tell you it is worth getting the new model simply because of three things, handling, agility, and both front & rear ABS for safety. Think back... the original Downtown feels pretty clumsy when doing tight cornering. Also, the seat are a lot more comfortable now for longer ride compare with the original. I'm loving my new Downtown 350i every time I ride it! :)

    Thank you for this awesome review. I am thinking about getting the 350i or the 300i. The 350i is more expensive and also I think it is harder to find equipment for the new scooter. What do you think? Do you have a topcase for the 350i? Are there compatibilities so - would the old equipment still fit?

    • @sgscooterguy2928
      @sgscooterguy2928  8 років тому +1

      +SiLeXnet You're correct about availability for accessories. There is practically none! My dealer has to create a custom bracket to mount the SHAD top-case base for me. It works... but not perfect thou.

      @sgscooterguy2928  9 років тому

      falcon20gr Good for you! This is really a good scooter and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as me. I'm using RAM mount and securing it on the brake reservoir. You can purchase it online at www.gpscity.com/. The SH48 is pretty good with sufficient space for 2 full face. However, do not place expensive item in the SHAD box overnight cause my box can be broken into without a key. One advice I can give is to buy a battery powered vibration sensor and place it in your under seat storage. It will act as a deterrent for somebody trying to break open your top case.

      @falcon20gr 9 років тому

      SGscooterGuyThanks again for your responce,i will receive it tomorrow,so soon i will upload a video,probably not as good and detailed as yours,but i will give it a try.My dealer told me that there s no avaliability of Kymco s mounting plates for Shad or any other top case,at the moment ,which is a little bit strange.

    • @sgscooterguy2928
      @sgscooterguy2928  9 років тому +1

      Your dealer is correct. My dealer has to custom made a bracket to secure the SHAD mounting plate directly to the bike frame. So far the mount is very stable. Perhaps you can ask your dealer can do something similar too.

    Hello SGScooterGuy, could you please tell me how often you change the engine oil? the catalogue says every 5000 km but the local agent here says I should change it every 2000km. Also could you please advice on the type of transmission oil you use as I'm confused between the different types (there are those for wet clutches which are different from those used in cvt) and how often it should be changed as well? Thanks in advance for the reply

    • @sgscooterguy2928
      @sgscooterguy2928  7 років тому

      I just change it every 5000km. However, I also get the advice to change oil earlier especially if you ride in city star stop traffic most of the time. Guess I don't really care. My DT350i scooter is almost 2 years old now. So far so good. Still working just fine. ;)

    • @hanynabil358
      @hanynabil358 7 років тому

      Good for you:) How many kilometers did it run in the 2 years? You might want to check the website of the oil manufacturer for recommendations on the oil mileage. I use Motul Scooter Expert 4t 10w- 40 which is recommended on Motul's website to be changed every 4000km. Still a big improvement from the 2000 km change interval recommended by Kymco's people here. Could you please tell me what type of transmission oil you use? Do you know if the 80w-90 oil for all gear types suitable or not? Thanks again for your useful feedback.

    HI. I have the downtown 350i as well. I am wondering if you get any vibration when accelerating? mine vibrates through the seat and bars a little, especially when going full throttle.
    Thanks

    • @sgscooterguy2928
      @sgscooterguy2928  8 років тому

      +Courior1200 Yes, I do experience vibration especially during low rpm acceleration. It is not consistent thou. When I first receive my scooter, the vibration was not there in the first month. But notice the vibration after that. I'm going to check with my dealer on the 5000km mileage servicing.

      Yuval Shapira Hi, Glad to hear that you are also a Downtown 350i owner. The two lamp
      doesn't work out well for me as it draws too much power causing problem
      starting the engine. Also, the twin H4 halogen lamp generate a lot of
      heat (literally) which could be bad for the circuitry in the long run. I
      have since reverted back to the original "one-eye" setup already.

    • @yuvalshapira3759
      @yuvalshapira3759 8 років тому +1

      SGscooterGuy Thanks for the reply,
      I agree with you, two lamps produce a lot of heat, and it takes a lot of electrical power, also can cause the electrical circuit problem.
      I'll stay with the original one eye.
      :) I'm waiting to finish the new engine running 1000 km
      .Thank you

    • @alanchiuth
      @alanchiuth 4 роки тому +1

      Yup. I have hit 165km/h before on M'sia highway. However, do not believe solely on the reading shown on speedometer as it doesn't take in account of wind and tarmac resistant. It simply shows you the speed based on the rotation of the tires. Under GPS reading, the max I can achieve is about 146km/h only. I paid SGD $11,297 without COE. Not sure how much is my insurance thou.

      +Aldo Xhanari It's good to know that you're getting the downtown 350i. It's indeed a good scooter. You can order the RAM mount which I use from www.gpscity.com/mounts.
      Here are the list of stuff that you need;
      RAM Mount Universal X-Grip Phone Cradle with B-Ball (RAM-HOL-UN7BU)
      RAM Mount Medium Arm B-Socket (RAM-B-201U)
      RAM Mount Motorcycle Extended Reservoir Cover Base (RAM-B-346U)
      RAM Mount Locking Knob Brass Thread for 1 inch Socket Arm (RAM-KNOB3LU) - Optional

      Phank you very much for the help. How did you manage to mount the SHAD top case to the scooter without the original Kymco platine support.
      Did you install the shad platine support?

    • @sgscooterguy2928
      @sgscooterguy2928  8 років тому

      +Aldo Xhanari My dealer uses a make shift metal plate to hold the SHAD top case. However, it doesn't hold well and the base holder broke in a few months. I've since replace it with a proper holder by SHAD to support the base. The model is K0DW15ST and I bought it online from piecesmotoscooter.com

    • @sgscooterguy2928
      @sgscooterguy2928  9 років тому +3

      ***** Hi, you'll need to add additional relay to distribute power to both headlight so that it can switch between high beam and head-light. Both H7 and H4 are similar in terms of brightness except H4 has two filament instead of one for H7. Which is why H4 can switch between high-beam and normal headlight. For my setup, my dealer install two H4 55W Halogen and it is drawing too much power hence causing engine start-up issue. I've since convert back to the original Kymco configuration. My dealer did suggest using two 35W H4 Halogen which could resolve the power draw problem but that would also mean it won't be as bright.

    Dear all,
    I live in France and I am very close to purchase tje DT 350.
    On a french web site , I have seen that due to issue with the engine the launch had been postponed.
    On an Italian web site, someone mentinned that there was an issue with "Tension regulator" :Molti non sanno che questi modelli Kymco hanno il regolatore di tensione nel flusso massimo del calore emesso dal motore! Quasi tutti nel breve periodo bruciano il regolatore..Puo' sembrare una stupidagine ma questo crea un effetto domino fastidioso sia alla batteria ed anche agli avvolgimenti dello statore. é un problema elettrico serio, il carico non è affatto dimensionato per quei regolatori che andrebbero sostituiti o messi in posti dove possono ricevere un maggiore flusso di aria. Figuriamoci poi inserire anche il carico del nuovo dispositivo gps satellitare! La gente signori della Kymco ormai è attenta, sistemate il regolatore..Il resto va' bene..Ma ricordate di cambiare l'olio molto spesso molto prima delle scadenze dette,con un prodotto di altissima qualità, sono motori al limite lo bruciano subito! - See more at: www.insella.it/news/kymco-downtown-350i-su-strada-un-video#sthash.8dOqxrq5.dpuf
    does anyone could tell me if you have any issue ?
    Thanks a lot

    • @sgscooterguy2928
      @sgscooterguy2928  7 років тому

      I'm not too technical so couldn't comment on the tension regulator issue. But I do have frequent engine start and stalling issue due to very low idling RPM in which I figure out a work-around for it. When I face difficulty in starting the engine, I just open the throttle and start the engine at the same time. Works every time! This is probaby not relevant to the tension regulator thou.
