Avec Paul Audy, Suzie Blanchette, Patricia Breault, Jean Cantin, Jacques Landry, Louis-Philippe Pharand. Pour célébrer la journée des portes ouvertes chez la Coop Au Bout du Rang à Saint-Félix-de-Valois, on joue une pièce (connue par plusieurs titres) qui nous vient du répertoire de Keith Corrigan, accordéoniste de la communauté irlandaise de Valcartier près de Québec, qui l’a apprise de son père. Elle apparaissait sur une cassette produite en 1982 par le CVPV jouée par Denis Pépin et Lisa Ornstein et ensuite reprise par La Bottine Souriante sur l’album La Mistrine, et de là entreprit son tour du monde trad. Selon les recherches de Lisa, son nom pourrait provenir d'une petite comptine « Sheepskins and Beeswax » qui vantait un traitement médical au début des années 1800. To celebrate the open house at the Coop Au Bout du Rang in Saint-Félix-de-Valois, one of the pieces we played was this tune (known by several titles) from the repertoire of Keith Corrigan, an accordionist from the Irish community of Valcartier near Québec City. He learned it from his father and it later appeared on a cassette produced in 1982 by the CVPV, played by Denis Pépin and Lisa Ornstein. Soon after, it was covered by La Bottine Souriante on the album La Mistrine, and from there began its trad world tour. According to Lisa's research, the name could come from a little nursery rhyme "Sheepskins and Beeswax" which praised a medical treatment in the early 1800s. Thank you to all these people who make the tradition still exist for the pleasure of memory and to this beautiful gang of enthusiastic musicians and the welcome offered by the farm team!
