    Can I say that I am absolutely in love with the soloist of this piece? All of the young men in this performance did exceptionally well, and I LOVE the choreography, but I feel like the soloist really captured the feel of this piece. Such an amazing performance! ♥

    Seventy years ago I sang with what was then the All City Chorus in New York City. Peter Wilhouski was the director. I sang with the chorus for four years and it was an experience I will never forget. I am so delighted to see that the tradition continues.

    When will people learn clapping completely ruins a performance? At least a performance like this.

    • @Yamanotefy
      @Yamanotefy 7 років тому +8

      Normally Japanese audience is very disciplined and know to enjoy music without clapping (especially in classic music), but I guess, they were simply too moved not...

    • @lilhollow1543
      @lilhollow1543 4 роки тому +2

      It always goes the same. When ever my choral ensemble preforms a song like this (which we will be doing this fall) the crowd starts clapping in the beginning then just stops just before the begging of the middle and it can ruin the vibe of a song.

    • @avanastasio9192
      @avanastasio9192 4 роки тому +4

      well in a traditional african song like this it’s very appropriate because in africa a lot of the time if people hear someone singing they will grab a drum or another instrument and just start playing and singing with the vocalist.. obviously the audience don’t gonna have drums with them, so clapping is the next best thing

    • @histori6259
      @histori6259 4 роки тому +2

      I think it emboldens this performance. This is meant to be percussive, and adding to the performance just makes the whole thing seem larger.

    • @udukamjoku8860
      @udukamjoku8860 4 роки тому

      I agree with you but it's almost contagious and it really takes only one person to start the whole thing. Ik as a musician some one making a beat or clapping while u play can easily throw you off but if there able to stay concentrated (which I would say they did) it actually sounds pretty cool ngl

    The correct spelling for "Tshotsholaza" is Shosholoza. Moving Fast, Moving Strong. The word Shosholoza is a combination of both Ndebele (of Zimbabwe) and Zulu (of South Africa) words meaning “to push forward, endeavor, or strive.” The sound of the word itself is symbolic of the steam engine trains that carried miners through the mountains
