Great video! the head position detail is gold. Been studying these two videos and they follow exactly what youre saying about chasing the back vs exposing wrestling. Head inside to hip to hip chasing the back: ua-cam.com/video/_BK4l5vrMOk/v-deo.html head outside to inside trip: ua-cam.com/video/pFhgHpx-UrM/v-deo.html
Man those are both perfect examples of what I was talking about. Thanks for sending! I really like that arm drag to inside trip. Again I have not seen this talked about much in BJJ and I could only find it in wresting videos so we will see if it becomes more mainstream in jiu-jitsu. Hopefully people share this video :)
hey, I love the content. I take issue with your first point being the head position. While it isn't completely wrong, it isn't looking at the most important part of the standing arm drag, that is the foot position, and chest connection. What you are calling head position is a proxy of sorts for chest position. In other words if your sternum is on your opponents triceps, you have the back. You can force this with your initial foot position. By stepping in with the drag side leg you prevent your opponents ability to turn through. By sagging that hip you put tremendous pressure on you opponent to step forward and into a position where the chest can connect with the treceps. Shallow or less committed arm drags that cross the center line always end up opening a take down. This can also be somewhat predicted based on the opponents stance. If you are dragging the back leg side arm you will get a step and most likely open the back, if it is the front side arm you most likely wont get a ton of back exposure. Hope this helps. I have wrestled for a very long time and use this system almost exclusively from both standing and the guard.
Yes he did great point! That is what honestly gave me the idea to do this video. I broke it down a little in the video below but made me want to do a deeper dive
What match is it 10:37. Same side arm drag sumi never crossed my mind, beautiful sweep! P.S. Amazing channel! With content like this you will hit tens of thousands of subscribers in no time!!!
I watch all your videos and recommend you to everyone I know. It would be great if you could use slow motion in the fight scenes that you show in your videos. Sometimes it's really difficult to see what you're explaining. Other than that keep producing that killer content!
I think if you watch this video it will make more sense! Basically if you knew slice without clearing the butterfly hook then you end up in cross ashi. Hope this video clears it up
@@LIMIBJJ was just able to hit it in practice today from arm dragging from head and arm position(me being on bottom). That head position makes a world of difference so they cant pivot to face you!
@@Sei1989 awesome! That detail blew my mind when I learned it and glad you are able to use it! Izaak tried to do it on Jansen as well but Jansen was able to get his arm back around to stop it. Seems like more and more high level people do arm drags like this
@@LIMIBJJ Me too! it's all thanks to you. Just saw the clip and It seems like it. Specially do to wrestling becoming a must in No-Gi and wrestlers are notorious for facial harassment.
Haha I am just a guy that trains jui-jitsu that made a UA-cam channel over covid and is embarrassed by how may instructionals I have at this point haha

Solid. Head inside the shoulder take the back, head out side the shoulder wrestle with shots. Chest position is major aspect.
🙌🏼
yeah so many black belt think they're doing good arm drag
I've been playing around with butterfly half for a while now and these arm drag details just blew my mind. Can't wait to try them out! 😁
Awesome I am glad you found it helpful!

Awesome I appreciate the comment! Thank you 🙌🏼
Marcelo is the literal GOAT no question.
This was the best, most insightful video on BJJ technique I have ever seen. Just subscribed !
Thank you! I am glad you found it helpful! Appreciate the comment and the support 🙌🏼
Head position is often neglected in BJJ. Coming from a wrestling background, it makes such a huge difference in grappling.
💯
Thank you. Additionaly, Gordon also hit a nice, seated Armdrag @ the Last WNO.

It is PJ Barch vs Jason Soares from EBI 13!
Thanks man I appreciate the support! I hope you're right!
Nice study man. I find it "easier" to take the back when I arm drag the front leg or arm.
Yeah I agree the near arm is best to drag if the goal is to take the back!
This was very helpful. Thank you.
great video, keep it up bro!

How is Marcelo today?
He just posted that he finished his third round of chemo and the doctors have been happy with the results 🙏🏻
