      There are little mini drones that have around 10 to 15 minutes of flight time with high def cameras. They are the size of a small soft-ball. They are called mini-whoop drones. I know this would go anywhere in the tunnel you could want. You should try it.

      This plus reinforced cable, some kind of pulley at the bottom of the shaft for less friction and a really well designed and built rover maybe even a small fpv drone and experienced operator with antenna at the bottom of shaft? Possibilities are endless here

      just use fiber optic

    • @haraldthi
      @haraldthi 17 днів тому +6

      I'm more interested in the wheels. Something large and supple like on a moon rover? Or all the way to a spiderbot? A cable can get stuck anyway, so perhaps drive a wireless transponder all the way to the blockage then have something else that could go further? That last part wouldn't be possible to drag out so something really advanced like a spiderbot could be needed. Or perhaps a drone or a flying balloon?

    • @Biokemist-o3k
      @Biokemist-o3k 17 днів тому +4

      Oh no they were not using PoE cable?..There are also electric fencing wires that have wire and a heavy polymer rope woven into them that could be covered in a silicone ..lots of different possibilities..-John

    • @haraldthi
      @haraldthi 17 днів тому +2

      @@Biokemist-o3k I'm not sure you can find cord strong enough to be pulled out of all sorts of rock, especially as those rock walls are uneven and can be really well set in place. But at least it can be worth a try. There are UHMWPE cords made for hammocks and such that can take well over a metric ton, and I'm pretty sure you can weave fiberoptic cable and even power cable into it. I don't think UHMWPE is all that wear resistant but at least it's really slippery.
      Another option may be to make the back end of the car into a smooth capsule that's not easily stuck into rock.

    It’s time to make a larger, tracked vehicle. Check out the robot that they used in the early 2000s in the Pyramid of Khufu when a new shaft/chamber was discovered.
    If you’re going to do wheels, get MUCH bigger wheels and ensure everything is within the diameter of the wheels, that is, all of the electronics etc. maybe a 2-axis wheel system 90 degrees rotated.

    A couple of useful ideas:
    1. Instead of using wires, drop a remote controlled drone that runs on radio transmitters and drop more transmitters/repeaters as you go along so you don't lose signal and you don't have issues with tangled wires.
    2. Bring more than one drone. That way you can perform a rescue operation on a drone if needed.
    3. Use a small flying drone to fly through the tunnels instead of driving. Flying will give you significantly more maneuverability (Not sure about the visibility from dust kickup though).
    4. If a flying drone doesn't work out, use a vehicle with large wheels and components built smaller than the wheels themselves and between the wheels, that way you don't have issues with flipping.
    5. Ask engineers or other people who've done similar work with drones in similar environments. The technology for such tunnel work has significantly improved and there's definitely better tech available to accomplish your goals. People use drones to map out caverns and caves that aren't safe for people to go into all the time. Just got to do a little more research to find those.
    6. Keep up the great work. There are surprisingly few people doing this out there, it's much needed work, and honestly the number of views you'll get (as evidenced by this video) will probably make it self-supporting.

    Sergio, I can't believe with your skills in electronics and engineering that you didn't think of making a flip-bot or flip-car. It's basically a remote controlled vehicle that can flip over and still keep going. Most of them have tank-like tracks that allow them to go over rough terrain and when they flip over they can keep on going because they are the same on both sides. Maybe you should think about building something like that for next time you need to explore a deep or dangerous area. It would be well worth it and harder to loose. You could put dual front/rear cameras on top AND on bottom so when it flips you can switch cameras and always have a right-side-up view no matter whether it's upside down or not. It, of course, would be expensive and would take maybe a year and a half to perfect and field test before actual use but if you took your time and did it right, it would be an invaluable asset for years to come and would be almost impervious and impossible to lose. If you want more ideas or explanation, let me know and we can figure out an easier way to connect so I can explain and send links to pictures and advertisements of similar vehicles that can be altered and customized.

      @@ichitoburrito1359 wow, that may be the solution now that you know the terrain. Interesting that the weakest point was the tie to the rover. You did not think you would have to pull on it so much … what a great start. Be great if a skinny human could go down there and also learn about how it was used since it is so strategic. I love that these openings had been locked so long, keys lost, not used, etc. There is so much underneath that city…🙏🏻👏😻💐 Bravo. Can’t wait for update. 👏👏👏👍🥰🌈

    Safety first. Try a new vehicle or ask Mark Rober to build you one! Don’t risk your life going down in person. Me and my kids say you should go back again but have a professional robot maker help you or get a different vehicle to go down or ask Mark Rober (youtube engineer) to help you. He made a mechanical wheelchair that went up stairs. He could help you make a vehicle. Also a cord that charges the vehicle would be good. Please don’t risk your lives. We love you! Thank you for this amazing video! And for all you do!

      Why not use a tracked vehicle (determ the with of the tunnel so it will about 50%of the size). Will help crawl over any rocks. And add a leveling system so it can recover in case of a roll-over.
      Use stereo camera's to help get a depth vision.

    Wow, how fascinating 😍. Back in 2000, I volunteered at Christ Church and not long after being there, I had a dream where I was standing next to a type of well in the ground and out of this well, a very powerful jet of water came out of it. It was so powerful that my whole body was shaking. The power of it was so tangible. I shared this dream and I was told that there was some sort of tunnel under the church. You guys need to go back but this time with back-up robots ☺. Well done!

    S & R- ❤ your videos! Been watching for a long time.
    Sorry your “bot” got stuck, but you have gained so much! This has been a valuable experience as you made your first prototype. The first always takes the most time as you have to hash out necessities and function. The second will not take nearly as long. You need someone to DONATE a new robot. Maybe the type with “legs” that can traverse the boulders. Or since you were able to add a cable to the truck base, could you not figure out a way to add cable to a small drone with a custom roll cage to protect the blades? Off the ground would be the most ideal. We will be praying for solutions. Don’t be afraid to reach out to tech companies for help! We have not because we ask not! This type of tech could be very beneficial for a lot of purposes! Praying for the Divine Creator to supply abundant creativity to you and to open wide doors to your ministry! Blessings!
