Picked up my first safety razor and did my first shave with it today. Went with the Rockwell 6C in gunmetal after watching a bunch of your videos. I was a bit nervous at first but dove in. I started at 1 and instantly knew I needed more so skipped 2 and jumped straight to 3. No nicks or razor burn and got an amazing shave and probably the best shave I’ve done for my self / most enjoyable morning shave experience. Can’t wait to try some other razors and might jump to plate #4 here soon.
After almost 50 years of using cartridge razors, i bought a Henson AL 13 a month ago. It takes a bit longer to shave, but without any of the accessories you use, I'm already getting a better shave than I ever have. Im adding stuff as I can afford it. The alum bar and Thayer's Witch Hazel got here today. Your vids have been a major help in this new endeavor. Thank you!
I started wet shaving with a DE razor in January of this year, moving on from Gillette cartridges. My first razor was Henson AL13++, which I later gave to my 21 year old son when I ordered a second Henson, the AL13+. I also purchased a Karve CB in solid brass with solid bar plates A to D, making it an adjustable razor similar to the Rockwell 6C/S. The machine shop where I work is only a few blocks away from Chris’ shop, so I was able to purchase my Karve in person and have a great chat with Chris. The CB is a great system as you can get plates that range in blade gap from AA to G in both solid bar and open comb, 16 different options. But with all that, the Henson makes it easier to find the correct shaving angle and get started on the DE shaving experience. Once you’ve got a good technique, the CB allows you to tailor your shave experience to different amounts of growth, different blades, etc. Both are great razors.
Fantastic, as ever. You do the best job of acting as both advocate for wet shaving and guide/mentor of anyone I've seen. Thank you, and appreciate the amount of work you must put into this. It shows.
Such great info. I bought the Leaf Twig after watching a few of your videos, and I agree it gives me a great shave. I do like the Parker blades, very good shave with them. I am thinking about getting a Henson, it looks like a good razor.
Absolutely excellent. After watching your stuff I pulled the trigger on a Henson AL13 a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely excellent. I will be referring folks to your stuff to get started.
Been using a Gillete Fusion forever and never really thought much about a safety razor. I recently did a ton of youtube research and bought a RW T2. I also bought peronna blades, a Simpson synthetic brush and the Rockwell shave cream. (proabably after watching all your videos :) ). SO, today was the day, my first shave with the new safety razor. I'm 54yo, three days of growth, sensitive skin, and I failed. 4 bloody holes and a face on fire. Bro, tell me it will get better. I was all exited for my new endeavor and I got slapped down today. I will give it more tries for sure. any additional advice before I buy a Henson....HA
I started off with my father's Gillette 1960 fatboy. Next I bought the Merkur Futur. I found it a little too aggressive, it works but you have to be careful. Then I bought a Rockwell T2 in gunmetal finish. Love that razor! I generally operate around 4 1/2. Loved it so much that I put the futur back in its box and buried in a drawer. So impressed with the T2 that I picked up the stainless steel as my everyday from here to eternity razor. I also use the Simpson T3 synthetic brush. Too many unresolved issues with China and the badger trade. Got to find a holder that will handle that big Simpson!
Great info, I like the 6C alot, but for a beginner I would recommend a Henson. The 6C requires a bit of understanding to use. If the price point on the Henson is too much though I would suggest the The Razor Company Aluminum Razor. It's made in the USA and cost about 25% less than the AL13
Great content, as always. I have the Twig, and I am still learning my way.....I'm still learning the best directions to shave my face and what blade to use. I've used an Astra, Personna, and a Feather. I always pick up something from your videos, and I appreciate what you do for us guys that need help with razor irritations.
David….I agree with you totally about Rockwell razors. I started out with a 1965 Gillette Slim….ok but I wanted more. After a lot of research and watching UA-cam vids…I pulled the trigger on a 6C. I just loved the shave I get with that razor…with any blade…and I end up with no irritation and a BBS shave. After that…I had to go to the 6S when I found a great buy on one. Same shave as the 6C…but the SS adds a little more prestige to the razor. My last one has been my T2…and that’s a great razor also. The mechanical operation of the T2 is flawless….feels like a precision tool when using the TTO and gap adjustability ring. The T2 SS would be the ultimate….but at $250…I can’t justify it. My T2 is working great for now. Question for you….the T2 at $250 is close to the Rex Ambassador at $295. Which one of these do you like more…..for comfortable BBS shaves, ease of use, and quality of construction?
I got the twig a couple of weeks ago and have been loving it. Mild yet efficient. I’ve got really coarse hair and shave every 2-3 days and it takes it down quite nicely. Chasing BBS shaves particularly on my neck lead to irritation regardless of what razor I seem to use. I settle for BBS on the face and DFS on the neck. Another informative video though. Love the work you put in for the rest of us
Thanks for your review. (I saw another one by yourself, too). I wish I saw them before, but it"s ok. I bought myself the Henson. I read their instructions and advice - on FB, on the box and the email they sent me after delivery - very simple and to the point. No cuts the first day, a tiny-weeny one the following morning, but that's my learning process. Yes, it's a close shave. I managed to do a good job on my chin (which has a dimple), but I wish my neck felt smoother. I'm tempted to compare with the Leaf Twig.
I would try some different blades in the Henson. What I have found the razor blade combination can vary from razor to razor. Buy variety pack on Amazon before investing in another razor. The RK blades are very mild
I struggled a LOT to find this green shave bowl... Ended up finding it in Aliexpress as a collapsible dog food bowl and had a good laugh. Bought on spot, waiting for delivery still hehe
I started with the AL-13 Mild and now I'm using a Rockwell T2 dark chrome. No need for any other ever. (Well maybe a Henson Titanium) Try the Thayer's cucumber next time you are low on toner. You will love it. Great video as usual.
6s or 6c is my recommendation for beginner razor based on your list and overall. I have not tried the t2 but it may be too big/bulky to start. The Henson may be good but I haven’t tried. I don’t like aluminum/light weight razors but a beginner may like the Henson coming from carts. I think the DE89/R89 can be on this list as well as the gamechanger. Nice vid David! Production is tops.
@OhioShaves, as usual, another great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products and techniques. Those are excellent choices for beginners to select from.
My favorite razor is Henson. I've tried the twig and, find myself going back to Henson have a better shave and I can get away with a two pass shave. I wanna try the rex one but I'm not sure
I have booth fine and coarse hair on my face, most razors I have been buying lately cater to the coarse ones, making me have to go over the fine ones, mostly under the chin as many 5 to 6 times before I can remove them. Leaving my face razor burned or cut, may consider trying the De razors if I can get them here in Canada, most stores around me don't even carry old style razors just the cartage ones
Some great choices and advice. A beginner can't go wrong with the Rockwell 6C because it's 6 razors in one for only $60 or less. One of my newest safety razors is the RazoRock Game Changer .68. It's all stainless steel and priced at $55. Maybe you'll get to try one in a future review.
@@OhioShaves I never thought I'd find a DE razor that would compete with my 6S. The Game Changer is made in Canada too. RazoRock makes high-quality and affordable safety razors. While the RR GC has impressed me, it won't replace the 6S. But it will definitely be in my rotation. It's smoother and more efficient than the 34C too. IMHO of course.
thanks man, fully appreciate the tutorial and all the links provided, i will try to proceed and make my mind up rather than end up buying many of them😀
just switched form cartridge to safety razors when my al13 came in about a week ago and it definitely cuts better but more than anything less irritation
Lovely video, David. Thanks to your candid advise, I migrated to Rockwell 6c about 3 months ago, and its been wow!😊 It's R3 paired with a Gillette Nacet is my sweetest spot for head and face shaves and daily driver. I recently got a Parker 78R because I really admired it's looks so much, and you gave it quite a good review in one of your previous videos. It's really a very efficient razor and surprisingly aggressive if not gently used. I wrote to Parker and asked for the blade gap and they said it was .64mm (yet to hear from them about the blade exposure), so it compares to the R4 and R5 Rockwell plates. Being relatively new to wet shaving, I am enjoying these two razors presently, and want to bump up my collection with some high ends like Rex envoy, Karve overlander, etc. Thank you David for the great work on wet shaving. Cheers
I don’t shave often. I actually prefer to have a beard, so electric trimmer to shorten my beard is usually my go to. That being said, there are rare occasions where I do need a razor to touch up or slightly reshape my beard a little. Having a safety razor would be absolutely perfect for those occasions and is something I’ve been thinking about getting for some time now. Sounds like the Henson AL13 is right up my alley for me personally.
I have a handful of razors. I really like the 6C with a plate #3. I have the Henson ++. I had the + first, but found it too mild. I have a Merkur 38C which is supposedly the same head as a 34C (not sure). I find the 38C too aggressive for me. My recommendation would be the Merkur Progress. Fully adjustable it will suit just about anyone and it shaves fantastic. I have the long handled version. Good review.
Trying to decide here between the Henson AL 13 or the Rockwell. I also have sensitive skin and will be my first time using a straight razor. Which one would you suggest as a first? Appreciate your videos and help. - Carlos

Another excellent video. Admittedly, I shave daily in the shower and I use a bar of soap -- don't cringe. It does ok. When I have more time, I use shaving cream but I use the "cheap stuff". Questions: do you really get a better another shave with a better cream? do you have a go-to cheap shaving cream and if so, what is it? Assuming I want a budget friendly knot, bowl, and proper shaving cream, what do you recommend? I'll end on a good note by saying I do use Nivea.
All of the artisan soaps are inexpensive. When you consider how long they last a 4 ounce puck should last you two years at least. When it comes to budget friendly, not shaving bowl I recommend the razor company brand knots. For the money I don't think there's a finer brush out there and they also have inexpensive shaving bowls as well. Check out their website. I have only shaved with 2 and that's the 2c and Henson ++. Out of the 2 of those I prefer the 2c. I just press too hard with the Henson. It's still an amazing razor.
No have a top-five yet. I watch some videos such as this one to look for suggestions with details. I'm trying to make a choice of which to try next but no decisions yet. Only have a current in use Top-Two razors. The fat handle Gillette Tech, and the King C Gillette d.e. razor.
Your videos are the best. The sound and closeups are great. I'm one of those guys that almost never has to shave. On one hand, that is a blessing, but on the other hand, when I DO have to shave, its very tempting to grab a cheap disposable and just scrape away during my morning shower. I don't have enough facial hair to warrant the process of lathering, etc., (I kind of wish I did, because I like processes and gadgets) So, I tend to just use the basic cheap razors, Amazon Basics, ShaveLogic, Harry's, etc. I don't have to replace them that often at all, so its not a HUGE $ investment, but honestly, they don't shave that close at all, even when pitted against my Dollar Store "beard." Do you think it would be worth the investment to try a DE or Twig? I figure, less irritation, less blade replacement cost, and possibly less irritation cant be a bad thing.
@@OhioShaves Duuuuude. Dude. I finally got my Twig. My face is SO smooth, I love it, haha. Well...mostly smooth. The blades that came with it were "OK." It took more passes than I expected to get the result that I got. My face is a little irritated, not visibly, but physically. What blade would you recommend, that is JUST a little sharper, than the blades that come with the Twig?
Hello Ohio Shaves, love your videos, so informative! I am switching to DE razor for around beard, neck, and above ears (bald head) what is your favorite razor?.....not a Twig.

I don't think I could choose one favourite razor. I would really like to be able to get a Henson in the future, but financially speaking, it will be a long time. Most of my razors were gifts from wonderful people in the shaving community. So, top pics from what I have: Rockwell 6S and 6C. Twig. King C Gillette. Edwin Jagger DE89. Aylsworth Kopperkant.
Another great video mate , when i started to shave my head with safety razors , there wasn't much videos like this one to learn from and that was just 5-6 years ago. Highly helpful for guys on the edge , wanting to make that switch but finding it to too "scary". 👊
One that I like is the Supply SE. If you’re on a budget, it won’t break you. If you’ve never used a safety razor, it is easy to use, with very little learning curve. I use it if I need a quick clean up shave with only 2 or 3 days growth. My overall favorite, money is no object razor is the Rex Konsul XL. Smooth, very efficient without aggression, and solidly built.
I got the scars to show from the plastic cartridge razors. I used to spend $20 bucks for crappy shaves and I also have some bits of above my lip that are now gone because of the 5 razor bladed nightmare and I thought I was getting a better shave!!! I bought a Van Der Hagen razor when I first started out, not the best razor because of the blades, and the safety razor wasn't exactly sturdy, but IT WAS MUCH BETTER than those 5 bladed plastic craps! As my technique got better, I decided to buy a semi-slant Parker safety razor and I haven't looked back since. My face is now more smoother, my bank account is more happier with me, and I have a plethora of grooming tools that makes me feel more of a gentleman now!
What razor do you like the best? A Rockwell 6S or T2 SS or a timeless stainless steel razor? I have a Yates America razor and the winning razor and a leaf twig and a Henson AL13. So I'd like to get a timeless or a Rockwell but would like to know your personal preference and favorite one. Thank you
Another razor to try that I saw a lot was the Gamechanger 84p / 68 by Razor rock. There is a lot of people who argue its just as good or better then the Rockwell 6s/c.
I will tell you what. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Rockwell 6C. Fantastic. FANTASTIC. Cannot be overstated. i first bought a '62 Gilette flaretip (pretty cool...average shave), then upgraded to a Manscaped Plow 2.0 RIGHT before I found your channel. Got the Rockwell. Game Over. I have YET to even nick myself. #4.
I already had the Henson in my collection but, on your recommendation, a while ago I bought both the 6C and T2. Thank you! They are superb and the 6C is probably my favourite razor in my collection. It is incredibly smooth and comfortable, and the flexibility of the plate system makes this a fantastic option for someone who wants a top class razor and is not interested in getting into buying additional razors. It’ll last a lifetime. BTW the brush is pronounced tra-fal-gah after the naval battle during the Napoleonic wars. And I agree it’s a damn fine brush.
@@OhioShaves I have not. I just saw your video and the link said secret shave. I wanted to try it as I get a lot of ingrown hairs on the head. I feel both shave secret and cream could work well, so I’m going to try it. I’ll report back.
Love you channel, great reviews and information. I want to know your opinion of the Vikings Blade Crusader in frosted chrome. Could you perhaps review one? Thanks in advance.
Have you tried the *Rockwell R1? A.K.A * Jagen David B40 * Kanzy * Amour Noir 1950's * Baili 179 * Vikings Blade Chieftain * Dorco Butterfly etc. It's the same razor, just re-branded, but they really nailed it with this design, you can pick one up for as little as £9.99 /$12.78 (depending which brand you buy). It's a really good double edge razor for beginners and advanced shavers alike, it's very mild and it doesn't break the bank! Great channel and content btw 👊
Question on the Henson... i know you Ohio and others are using balms and creams. But have you tried using the razor with like say the bar of soap like grandpa used to?? I'm sometimes in a rush during the work week.
It is beside the point, but I find lathering a big hurdle as a beginner. Normally, I cannot get a good shave after a hot bath, it is too drying. Neither after just lathering, it takes too much time preparing the face and the soap kind of dries on the face. I can get a better shave if I prepare a wet lather, but it is messy. If I simply wash my face, pat dry and lather 10 minutes later, it makes for a surprising difference. Shaving is surprisingly tricky sometimes.
@@OhioShaves one of the revelations was when I got a closer shave when using a milder razor, it was an epiphany. No need for 10/10 sharpness everyday, but a new blade is always welcome.
I bought a Facón for my first safety razor because of the great reviews, however it cuts my face badly. Have you ever reviewed this razor? I have very sensitive skin. What would you recommend for me?

I recently bought the Original DOC from Phoenix artisan accoutrements. It’s pretty mild and smooth, it gave me some confidence while shaving. I’d say milder than the Twig, probably in between #2 and #3 plate on a Rockwell 6s. Would put that on my beginner recommendation, plus it looks bad ass.
We are lucky for the great variety of razor that we can buy. But if your budge is small you can try the Wilkinson Sword Classic ( the old one, that is plastic) and you will not regret. It is so good.
*I'm gonna go "AGAINST THE GRAIN" here, and suggest the (Maggard MR5).* *That famous handle, makes it to where you dont have to THINK about "finding the angle"* Its just automatically there. 🤔
@@OhioShaves Whhaaaattt? Seriously??? Oh man. I'm surprised nobody ever mentioned it before. Yeah that handle was basically DESIGNED to be ergonomic, and eliminate the whole (having to find the cutting angle) thing.
I need some help. I've been using a DE razor for about 3 months now and been having trouble shaving my neck/jaw area. I don't mean to brag but I have a well defined chin/jaw and I find it hard to get into those angled part where my neck meets my jaw. I also have a somewhat prominent Adam's apple so shaving over that part is kinda hard. I want to shave against the grain when it comes to my neck but a lot of those who used DE razors for awhile advise against it. Any suggestions? I'm tired of nicking myself or getting a bad shave
What do you think between the Henson AL13 vs. the AL13-M? Or either of those vs. the Rockwell 6C? About to pull the trigger on one, have the Manscaped Plow 2.0, which is Ok, honestly, but think that these others are a step up, based upon what you've been messaging. Thank you!
All of these are great. I get more perfect shaves from the Henson. The Rockwell is adjustable and is smooth shaving as well. Henson does out sell Rockwell razors. Im new to all this and kind of confused between the twig, al13 and 34c. My hair’s on the thicker side and i want a close shave without burns/bumps. What would you recommend? Amazing videos btw ive seen like 10 today
What would you recommend for head shaving? A safety razor like the 6c/s or the leaf razor with 3 blades? Thank you for your content, it is very helpful!
Just head shaving, Leaf shave razor is the fastest way for me to shave my head. I have a video coming out tomorrow, using the leaf shave razor on my head.
@@OhioShaves I have sensitive skin and time is not ready a factor that’s why I am searching for a smooth razor to minimize my skin irritations. So if time is not a factor, would you still recommend the leaf razor over a safety razor like the 6c? It could also be more expensive, as long as it smooth and stop these skin irritations. I am very thankful for your quick answer and all your videos, I watched so many of them and all of them are helpful!
I shaved my head all the time with the Rockwell. If you ever plan on shaving your face, it’s a great face shaver as well. The Rockwell will not disappoint for head shaving.
I ordered double edge safety razor I started shaving 1 months ago. With my first razor "Gillette guard" after that I got razor bumps and redness......now I will shave with Safety razor.... Really regrets
I am looking for a mild or slightly aggressive razor which has a length close to Merkur 34C, any suggestions would be appreciated. I am looking for an upgrade as I noticed my Merkur 34c has lost its plating in different parts and developed corrosion on the threads. I thought such a razor would last a lifetime.
@@OhioShaves well, I stopped regularly shaving 5 years ago, just went to trimming the beard. When I recently returned to shaving, I started getting this nasty irritation from my disposable razors. I tried an electric shaver, same thing. Then I noticed a bombardment of adds from Hansen shaver’s, which I found obnoxious, but was intrigued to try a “old fashioned “ like my father used razor. Your video gave me an alternative to the Hansen, so I tried the Twig. Works well, no razor irritation at all, satisfied. I went with the Twig because, as you said, it an excellent detailer…it’s a tight corner under my nose 👃
It doesn't even matter in my opinion we can get the Vander Hagen razor handle from Walmart and as long as we buy the professional razor blades it doesn't matter what type of handle we use I'm just saying
Great value handle as long as you are aware of and OK with the shorter handle. If spending more for their longer handle then Parker 78R should also get serious consideration at the same price.
And if you want to prevent Razor Burn as a beginner? COLD WATER SHAVE! Just try it, it cut out 90% of my razor burn issues. And your blade sharpness lasts longer. It takes a little getting used to but your shave soap/cream will lather up better with cold water and your razor burn will be minimized.
I know for me using lukewarm water is better than cold. Using cold water, your whiskers will start to retract back into your skin. You might get a good shave, but you will have to shave more often because you can’t get it as close. At least this is my experience.
@@OhioShaves For me, cold or hot, the soonest I can shave again with a DE razor is every other day. I haven't had a cartridge shave that well since the Gillette Sensor Excel.
What's your favorite razor?
Still using the Twig, such an awesome razor!
Yo Ohio, check out the Henson and Dr.squatch collab, color is green! Sold me. Ima a leaf and twig guy but the green henson sold me.

But with all that, the Henson makes it easier to find the correct shaving angle and get started on the DE shaving experience. Once you’ve got a good technique, the CB allows you to tailor your shave experience to different amounts of growth, different blades, etc. Both are great razors.

Love the work you put in for the rest of us
Thanks for sharing and for your support
Great video, David. Used your vids to land on the Henson AL-13++ as my daily driver, and it's great. Thanks for all your input!
Glad to help. Thanks for the support
@@OhioShaves Oh I see. Thanks. I’m using the RK blades they provided.
top video !! i like the 6c and the 34c. have a nice weekend
Thanks 👍 You too
34c as murker?
I struggled a LOT to find this green shave bowl...
Ended up finding it in Aliexpress as a collapsible dog food bowl and had a good laugh.
Bought on spot, waiting for delivery still hehe
That's exactly what it is. I bought mine from Sterling soap company and then found it at the pet store. 😂
I started with the AL-13 Mild and now I'm using a Rockwell T2 dark chrome. No need for any other ever. (Well maybe a Henson Titanium) Try the Thayer's cucumber next time you are low on toner. You will love it. Great video as usual.
Right on
6s or 6c is my recommendation for beginner razor based on your list and overall.
Thank you much
Bought a 6C about six years ago. My always razor
💯👍
@OhioShaves, as usual, another great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products and techniques. Those are excellent choices for beginners to select from.
Glad you like them!
Great job and great product. Bravo from Canada
Thank you very much!
My favorite razor is Henson. I've tried the twig and, find myself going back to Henson have a better shave and I can get away with a two pass shave. I wanna try the rex one but I'm not sure
The henson is better than the Rex
I have booth fine and coarse hair on my face, most razors I have been buying lately cater to the coarse ones, making me have to go over the fine ones, mostly under the chin as many 5 to 6 times before I can remove them. Leaving my face razor burned or cut, may consider trying the De razors if I can get them here in Canada, most stores around me don't even carry old style razors just the cartage ones
Henson, Rockwell and leaf shave razors are all made in Canada
Some great choices and advice. A beginner can't go wrong with the Rockwell 6C because it's 6 razors in one for only $60 or less. One of my newest safety razors is the RazoRock Game Changer .68. It's all stainless steel and priced at $55. Maybe you'll get to try one in a future review.
The 6C is a great razor. You mention the razoRock a lot. Rockwell is hard to beat
IMHO of course.
thanks man, fully appreciate the tutorial and all the links provided, i will try to proceed and make my mind up rather than end up buying many of them😀
Best of luck!
just switched form cartridge to safety razors when my al13 came in about a week ago and it definitely cuts better but more than anything less irritation
💯
Cheers
Thanks for your support
I don’t shave often. I actually prefer to have a beard, so electric trimmer to shorten my beard is usually my go to. That being said, there are rare occasions where I do need a razor to touch up or slightly reshape my beard a little. Having a safety razor would be absolutely perfect for those occasions and is something I’ve been thinking about getting for some time now. Sounds like the Henson AL13 is right up my alley for me personally.
I agree. Use my code to check out and get 100 free blades: Ohio_shaves

Excellent job, excellent research.

I can understand that. Thanks for your support
No have a top-five yet. I watch some videos such as this one to look for suggestions with details. I'm trying to make a choice of which to try next but no decisions yet. Only have a current in use Top-Two razors. The fat handle Gillette Tech, and the King C Gillette d.e. razor.
A lot of good choices out there
Your videos are the best.
The Twig would be perfect for you. 🪒Leaf Razor: shrsl.com/4o6nl
@OhioShaves Excellent, just grabbed one. Thanks!
@@OhioShaves Duuuuude. Dude. I finally got my Twig. My face is SO smooth, I love it, haha. Well...mostly smooth. The blades that came with it were "OK." I don't think I could choose one favourite razor.
I would really like to be able to get a Henson in the future, but financially speaking, it will be a long time.
Most of my razors were gifts from wonderful people in the shaving community. So, top pics from what I have:
Rockwell 6S and 6C.

Thanks 👍
Great video!!! I have all of the 5!
Me too. Great razors

Great review. Thanks for sharing 💈👍
I got a Feather AS-D2 and gifted my Henson to a friend. If it’s in your budget, I’d recommend it.

Glad you enjoyed it
What razor do you like the best? A Rockwell 6S or T2 SS or a timeless stainless steel razor? I have a Yates America razor and the winning razor and a leaf twig and a Henson AL13. So I'd like to get a timeless or a Rockwell but would like to know your personal preference and favorite one. Thank you
Timeless is where it’s at.
Another razor to try that I saw a lot was the Gamechanger 84p / 68 by Razor rock. There is a lot of people who argue its just as good or better then the Rockwell 6s/c.
I didn't have a good shave with it. So I never uploaded the video
Thanks for sharing. Great razor
Same for me. I was sick of paying over the odds for cartridge razor and the Rockwell 6C is awesome. I need to research shaving cream next. 👍
@@Grandi74 Yes, totally agree. And props to @ohioshaves for all the help, insight and real diligence in all these comparisons.

It definitely is a knock off and yes I have tried it and it's OK. I can't believe Rockwell still offers it in their lineup. I was given one by Bali
Question on the Henson... i know you Ohio and others are using balms and creams. But have you tried using the razor with like say the bar of soap like grandpa used to?? I'm sometimes in a rush during the work week.
No I haven't tried reg. soap
where does the Yates Merica fit. would it be on this list today?
Not so much.
@@OhioShaves is the Merica more aggressive? Harder to use then a Rockwell?
It’s like the 6 plate on a rockwell
@@OhioShaves oh shit! I bought one last week. I thought it was more mild.
Hello, I shave my head daily to every 2 days. Which safety razor do you recommend for head shaving?
Rockwell
It is beside the point, but I find lathering a big hurdle as a beginner. Normally, I cannot get a good shave after a hot bath, it is too drying. Neither after just lathering, it takes too much time preparing the face and the soap kind of dries on the face. I can get a better shave if I prepare a wet lather, but it is messy. If I simply wash my face, pat dry and lather 10 minutes later, it makes for a surprising difference. Shaving is surprisingly tricky sometimes.
I’ll post another video soon
@@OhioShaves one of the revelations was when I got a closer shave when using a milder razor, it was an epiphany. No need for 10/10 sharpness everyday, but a new blade is always welcome.

@x2mars Great News. How was your experience?
@@OhioShaves well, I stopped regularly shaving 5 years ago, just went to trimming the beard. When I recently returned to shaving, I started getting this nasty irritation from my disposable razors. I tried an electric shaver, same thing. Then I noticed a bombardment of adds from Hansen shaver’s, which I found obnoxious, but was intrigued to try a “old fashioned “ like my father used razor. It doesn't even matter in my opinion we can get the Vander Hagen razor handle from Walmart and as long as we buy the professional razor blades it doesn't matter what type of handle we use I'm just saying
I can easily tell a difference between Razors. But I do agree you you don't have to buy $1000 Razors to get a good shave.

Vintage razors are good there's just better options out there for people trying to make the switch
“zero margin for error, great for beginners”
What?!
Very Simple to use
how do you know the side of the edge you are using on each shave, is there any mark? I may use the same side 3-4 times before switching to the other.
It makes no difference
