    "Get out and explore" is what those bags say to me. I have similar set up yet have yet to do an overnighter. Instead, I am gone all day, usually avoiding others and sometimes take my stove and make coffee. It usually below freezing here in SLC so it can get pretty exciting.

      Bitter beer is ok( Unless you're gluten free like I am), but hot coffee on a cold morning... mmmmm.

    I really love the Brooks materrial. I bought myself recently a 10 liters Glenbrook saddlebag, a C17 cambium special copper saddle and cambium copper grips. I have not been able to try them out though, just for the simple reason that I do not own a bike at the moment. But no worries, the bike is more or less the next thing on my list and hopefully by the time spring arrives I will be able to make my first ride since... 1976. :-)

    What you need is a friendly RAF Safety Equipment Fitter (known a Squippers), the guys who make all the pilots immersion suits and dingies etc.
    A friend of mine at RAF Valley made me 100% waterproof, lightweight frame-bag, bar roll and rear pannier bags for a crate of beer and a months supply of chocolate hobnobs!
    It's not what you know ...

    Thanks for the look at the Brooks bags. I like the holster for the handlebar bag and the seat bag. Looks like it makes things super easy. I also like the valve to let the air out. Seems like nice touches. I'm looking forward to getting out to go bike packing when it's possible.

    I'm intrigued by the top tube bag. My favorite bar bag is an OrNot and they are hard to come by. I might default to a top tube bag if I can't snag an OrNot the next time they produce some. Perfect for storing snacks!

    Brookes must be one of the oldest Bike bit firms in the UK now. ! The old Brooks Pro copper rivet and B 17 saddles were and prob ,still are the best bits of leather money can buy ! At least you do not have to strap and old Yellow rain cape on top of the rear saddle bag any more thankfully lol..

  • @weeringjohnny

    Small frames often have saddlepack issues with the bag touching the tyre or, in your case, the holster, and it's not a problem specific to Brooks. In my experience contact of this kind will quickly make a hole unless the holster or bag are made of some seriously tough material. I get round this problem on my small-framed fat bike by using a PDW Bindle rack attached to the seat post, with straps to attach it under the saddle. No sway, it can't move if you accidentally kick it getting on the bike, you can use any size drybag you want and no tyre rub. Those Brooks bags sure don't come cheap but I have to say they look pretty classy.

    Loving the bike, got one myself, but will let others be the guineapigs for these bags. Would probably go for brands that have been well tried and tested in the bikepacking world. Waterproofing would be a top priority for me. Not sure about the styling either, in that they don’t stand out from the crowd or look anything special. Nice video Juliet! Really helpful.

    • @jonfrance7201
      @jonfrance7201 3 роки тому

      Having said that, I do particularly like the look of the frame bag, having looked at a lot of brands, and have just ordered one 👍🏻

    • @jonfrance7201
      @jonfrance7201 3 роки тому

      For anyone interested, I’ve received the Scape frame bag and am almost totally satisfied. It’s very well made, looks and feels good quality, solid and durable. Not tested but does look like it will keep water out. Juliet has I think the small frame of this bike. I have the XL frame so the top tube is much longer. The bag fits well to the front of the frame and has 7 loops and 6 Velcro straps. Two at the top front are right next to each other, so you only need to use one in this area. The Velcro length from the front loop only just gets around the head tube, but secures ok here. But the Velcro is way too short for the loop at the back to connect to the seat tube. With five other attachment points this will probably be ok, but if I need to use that loop I will have to add a DIY extension to the supplied Velcro. Surprised Brooks didn’t supply one longer Velcro strap to suit larger frames. No regrets on purchasing this bag though.

    Why don't you relate Brexit to the negative influence to bicycling in the UK. Bags are great but not- even Brooks bags (my first Brooks saddle I had butchered by a tech in Ealing by Eric at W.HInds back in 1964- fantastic - made in UK) are now made anywhere near the North Circular. UK bicycling is suffering - even though the uptake of pedallers is beyond encouraging - by punitive, ignorant political impoverished, tattered flag waving ideologies which confront a real need to address the way we live - and move (i.e.cycle) in this modern world. You have a platform - use it.
