“You can’t scream, and why does it smell like weed in here?” The timing on you saying that was impeccable. Also, that first effects pedal(?) was awesome lol
Ngl, your channel gave me a whole new appreciation for the harp. Your work with the harp, with or without the pedals and synths, has shown me a new depth and range for what can be done with it. So being the "harp lady" isn't such a bad thing when you can introduce people like me to more possibilities with it. ❤️
Emily don’t let the haters get to you. Let them hate. Do underwater basket weaving if you wish. We love you no matter what you play or do in your videos.
Woah, easy there. I watch this channel for the Harp and pedal effects. I wouldn't keep watching if she switched it to underwater basket weaving because that doesn't speak to me at all.
I won't call you the harp lady but I loved the second track. The harp is so damn cool and unusual. There are a million channels with synth, bass, guitar, and drums but YOU do something amazing and unique. The harp, combined with the effects you choose, is otherworldly. I discovered your channel when I was getting into recording ambient tracks. You are inspiring.
You're awesome, talented, and I love the humor you show, and obviously more than just someone who plays the harp. Thanks for sharing your creative process.
"You can't scream, and also why does it smell like weed in here?" Lmao. Didn't get very far in Outlast but Outlast 2 was a trip, my bf and I were screaming basically the whole time. Love your channel, Emily!
First video I’ve seen of yours, new sub! You seem like a really thoughtful creative person and I bet a lot of the people who simplify you down to “harp lady” have about as much creativity as you have in your pinky toe
I love the outlast track. The mention that you can’t play this kind of game anymore because of your heart and then the beat you made sounds like a frantic heart beat made it feel so personal.
You are amazing. I am always happy when you post. It brightens the day. This track is no exception. As for "Harp Lady", I remember you fondly as the octopus. Very much my sense of humour. So maybe that's an option.
Playing the harp makes your channel unique and stand out, but I’d be super excited to see more of the other things you do. This is because your talents for creating music and content are fantastic and are really fun to watch.
Your Long Island Accent is not really bad, it is really good. It is refreshing to hear a regional dialect. That Perfect Circuit placement was awesome. I like the music for game #3
Now that you’ve brought my attention to the “Chesty Harp Girl” comment in a previous video, I can never unsee that! Thanks, Emily! You and your music are beautiful!!! Keep doing what you love. You thought the harp sounded cool through an effects pedal, and so did we. That’s why we’re all still here.
Hurtful words always seem to make the biggest impact. You took a harp and brought it to the millenia absolute genius!! Don't even credit those that do not have the capacity to understand. You are so talented, remembering each name and memorising each pedal's functions while being able to make it sound good. Just pure excellence. Who cares what they say, they don't make up the majority here.
I actually associate you more with all your cool pedals! For real though, you introduced me to how cool the harp can sound! Like I came across your video at 3am and was absolutely blown away on how you can use pedals to make the all those amazing sounds!! Keep at it anyways, it’s hard to get noticed on UA-cam and you should look at it as a blessing people noticed you for your amazing talent :)
What you made for Outlast is a great fit! So round #1 is my favorite. 😊 The others were well crafted too! I learned from you about new gear I could try in my own productions. Subscribed. I enjoy your vibe!
This is the first video I have seen of you, and I am blown away. You are SO SKILLFUL at what you do! All three of these are bangers, each with their own feel and style. I really liked 3
I loved the 3rd track the most. In fact, it made me really curious about that game because it looks very fun (though I would've preferred for it to have music like what you made for it). But I dont think you guys mentioned the name of it, and I was looking for it in the comments, with no avail. I had to google-image-search a screenshot from this video, and that's how I found it. If anyone is curious about it, third game is called "Dark Light"
Man, all three tracks are great, but I like #2 the best. I really think you nailed the ambience/aesthetic on that one. #1 was an improvement over the actual game sound because the beat you set sounding like a heartbeat along with the other sounds added a sort of anxiety and drive to it. Took it from "Oh man this is creepy" to "Oh fuck oh shit I need to get moving!" #3 gave an 80's-like Blade Runner kind of vibe. Love how you leaned into the accent thing too, that was fucking great.
I came across your videos from some short clips while looking up piano tutorials, and absolutely love listening to the tracks you make. I understand its easy to concentrate on the bad comments over all the good but i think you are extremely talented and am really happy i came across your channel
Not only do I think you're talented, I'm cracking up how much your making me miss The Island! You REALLY remind me of an old HS GF who was just as creative - though we didn't have the tools you have. Wish you guys the best!!!
People on the Internet will complain about anything and everything, usually without contributing anything themselves, so they can be ignored. That applies to all creators including Emily - ignore the haters and double down loving the fans instead. My only complaint about this video is that it ends, because it's super fun and I love seeing the MOOD pedal getting some air time with Vines. That was my highlight but all the soundtracks were good. ❤
Any track is my favourite. No matter what Lady you are, I can see, that you love what make music in your way. It's their problem, not yours. It's your and your audience enjoyment. The rest can go duck. 😅
I just found your channel and I love your stuff, as someone who has worked a lot of very public jobs I can tell you that while 99% of people are awesome the 1% who are not are the one's we remember. Unfortunately that's how our brains work. I am glad you share your music, I know I could never handle youtube the assholes would get to me even if I know it's just that 1%. who tf would/could say anything negative about you or your content? your channel is creative, funny, and genuine. i really appreciate the years of content and joy you've provided both my wife and i and wish you all the best!
Ms. Hopkins, your harp playing really opened my ears to an instrument I had pretty much ignored. I also love your pedal demos (many of which I have added to my wish list at Sweetwater!). It is wonderful that you are combining what some see as a very stuffy instrument with these wild sounds. Not only brings the harp into the 21st century, but also encourages folks to look back at its more traditional music. Finally, yes, you are beautiful, but, what the hell business is that of anyone’s? It would not be an issue if you were a man, which truly sucks. Don’t let the bastards get you down. Most sincerely yours, Michael
I've been playing The Pipe in live concerts for the last 4 years and I love it so much, but you gotta get REAL intimate with that mic to get the best sounds 😉
Emily! There is absolutely nothing wrong with your style, look, voice, accent, personality, choice of gear, or whatever. There will be haters, lovers, and those who fall in between the two. Focus on you, those important to you, and your path. I, like many others, enjoy watching someone do something that they themselves cannot.
To me "Harp lady" gives more "horse girl" than cat lady, which is way better. Why? Because people might make jokes but at the end of the day, the "harp lady/horse girl" has a harp/horse and you don't.
You know, I wish you'd used the guitar for that last one! You even said it looked like a headstock, you set yourself up perfectly. But the results had some strong Sega Genesis vibes, with the gameplay I was reminded of Vectorman. You're really good at this shit. I think the third was my favorite... but admittedly the one with the harp was REALLY nice.
I don't *want* to call you Harp Lady but now you're making me with that Gris soundtrack, dangit. Good stuff! Beautiful game by the way and yeah the og soundtrack is also awesome.
God, everything you make with your friends is astounding... Edit: Oh, since I forgot-- even though the first had the coolest looking device, I think I loved the second and third one's attempts sounded great. The first one was hauntingly sweet, but I think the second and third ones were more 'unique' somehow...
When I saw your thumbnail with the comment "She's nothing without the harp," I immediately thought of that really stupid Steven Seagal movie from the 90s- Out for Justice. If you haven't seen it, I promise your year has just been made. He plays a detective named Gino Felino (Yes that's his actual name lol) There's this hilarious scene where he goes into some bar looking for a guy named Ritchie, and as he's passing a whole bunch of goons, this one Italian guy goes "HE'S NOTHING WITHOUT THAT BADGE AND GUN!" You're the best Emily. Never change.
I'd have to say track 3 was my favorite for sure. It's more than likely the Metroid fan in me, but I think you'd do a great mock-up of any of the OST from Dread. They all sounded amazing though, and you never fail to inspire me to not only want to make music, but most importantly, LISTEN around me for a well of inspiration. I understand the frustrations; I thank you for your honesty and your wisdom. Much Love!
Your artistry and humor is inspiring. Anyone who hates on you must have a truly sad life. Let’s speak of them no more. Keep making amazing music and having fun. I’m here for it.
Tough choice. The one with vines hit the deepest, loved how harp had a sitar/shamisen sound at times. I could hear the lo fi beat in my head with it. The other two have their moments but it was kind of a haunted house vs profound beauty vs rave possibly vampire rave. Harp Lass, Harp Maiden, Harp Filly, Harp Mistress. Lady Harp
Hate is a way that people undermine their own self worth. Our energy that we put out into the world is representative of how we feel inside. The sun always shines, as above so below.
First track was my fav! This is my first time watching a full video from you and its so cool. Love seeing the creative process & I never realised how wacky and tactile these hardware synths / FX can be
I only occasionally show up here, but you've definitely taught me that the harp is far more versatile than I previously thought. Side note: I love the two-tone (if that's what it's called) hair color, and your accent is great!
Nicknames are normally picked by other people and tend to be not the best for the person but it’s a good thing having one. Now you stand out and that’s good. I would embrace it.
I love your demos, personality and all the videos you made. You are refreshing and show us ideas & the possibilities with all these products. Thank you!
Not to invalidate you, but Harp Lady does NOT carry the same negative connotation as Cat Lady. One insinuates talent and the other insinuates undesirability: aka, two completely different things. In summary: Harp Lady is a compliment. It seems like more of a compliment than my assessment of you, which is that you're a modern version of those people who showed off synth effects in the 70's on PBS and the BBC (which isn't a bad thing either)
I found you thru the "harp lady" moniker a long while ago and am glad i have. Don't worry about your nickname, just keep doing what you're doing and leave it at that. You and Yvette are my favorites to watch and listen to when i need an eargasm regardless of what people call you (within reason, of course). Second track was as lovely as the other two. Do you and be cool with it, as long as you dont hurt or destroy anything else its all gravy.
I remember years ago, where you were just mass posting your videos on Facebook groups. Now you have half a million subscribers! Congrats on the grind and subscriber retention!
This is the first time seeing your videos and I’m completely blown away. You have such an amazing talent and I am very impressed. The second one was my favorite though.
Emily, you are nothing short of amazing and brave. I’ve said it before on another of your videos: let the haters hate. You’re the one putting yourself out there, doing the work. No matter what you do or call yourself, you’re better than those cowards. Keep it up!

5:58 Some people enjoy ASMR, but I enjoy da long island accents. Ayyy
Honestly associate you more with pedals with the harp being more the main eclectic thing through which you power them
I love how she says "I'm not the harp lady!" And then proceeds to make more than half of the video her harp 😂.
Nah but never change tho lol
Nicknames are normally picked by other people and tend to be not the best for the person but it’s a good thing having one. Now you stand out and that’s good. I would embrace it.
I love your demos, personality and all the videos you made. You are refreshing and show us ideas & the possibilities with all these products. Thank you!
Thank You for having the courage to be yourself. 🐧🍏🍎🌹
You're a very pretty lady, but Female Corey Feldman absolutely slayed me 😄
I’m the Comeback Queen™️
@@emilyharpist Comeback Queen LADY
😂🤣😂 people are evil for that one
People are just rude behind a keyboard. I think you seem pretty cool, probably a nice person too…
@@kbraker510damn you didn’t just call her a nice person. That’s kinda messed up.
Nothing wrong with a lady who loves cats, lol. Or harps, for that matter.
@@ahandsomefridgethey both take great dedication
@@ahandsomefridge Cats are garbage, so yes, there is something wrong with a lady that loves cats. ;)
Yeah, to hell with that! Cats rule, and anyone who thinks ladies who hang out with cats are "undesirable" is undeserving of neither cats nor ladies!
I think your soundtracks are both eerie and beautiful, I was getting goosebumps
You could always rename it to "Big Booba Harp Girl" ... which is a phrase now etched permanently into my brain...
boba tea is now forever tainted to me. /lol
Really loved the one for Gris!
How did you not recommend your channel name be Emily Harpkins???
Your videos are delightful and you're objectively an awesome sweetheart. I genuinely don't understand how anyone could hate you.
I remember years ago, where you were just mass posting your videos on Facebook groups. Now you have half a million subscribers! Congrats on the grind and subscriber retention!
Harp mommy
Yea ur long island accent is thick af
I love your accent. It makes you sound more genuine and assertive than most people.
Keep it up!
