QUICK NOTE BEFORE YOU COMMENT: The guitar I used for this demo was the Epiphone Yungblud SG Junior, which has a P90 pickup (sorry I didn't actually show myself playing it), but that explains any "hissing" or extra noise you hear. I've been seeing a lot of comments about the unit itself is noisy, that is not the case at all, I promise. It's simply some 60 cycle hum from the pickup. Remember that is also has a noise gate built in as well and works great with other pedals, so if you have your own, you can use that as well!
I've heard that a lot. Growing up with a dad who was raised and played through the 80s, seeing the gear he still has kicking around, I can believe it firsthand. lol
I remember renting pedals renting different types of amps from my local music stores and absolutely losing my mind when I finally could afford to buy an old beat up late 70s early 80s Ibanez rack unit that had distortion reverb flange Chours and delay in it..Completely changed my perspective on my own playing and I began to study much harder and advanced much quicker... it’s no wonder the guitar players these days are getting so good so fast..

Fantastic video! Thank-you for taking the time to demonstrate this unit. For the money it seems like it's worth it. I wish that it had some way to edit/organize patches with a computer.
I've just ordered one of these as an upgrade to my Cube Baby - which is an excellent piece of kit. The extra reverb, delay and modulation modes - in conjunction with 36 preset slots - are going to be invaluable... and I've already got a set of IRs to load. As far as noise levels are concerned - there's the noise gate to play with and I'm not all that interested with any amp models beyond the clean and slightly overdriven, as I play folk, jazz and blues - and I'd rather hear the music than a 'wall of distorted noise'. As far as the output goes - I've got my lovely Orange combo... and a big 60W bluetooth speaker with an 'aux-in'; I'll be fully sorted for a mains-free portable solution - just what I need for a night out at the local music club!
Thanks for the review. You’re providing a great service with the gear demos. All the gear you used is on the more affordable side. It sounded very good. The 70/80s aren’t my favorite but they actually do good with modelers going into power amp and cab because they have a more full and mild range of guitar frequencies. At least that’s what I hear around the block. $80 modeler with effects is crazy.
That's what I said, for the price, it's a great piece of gear. I have legitimately been playing it every day. I've written stuff I normally wouldn't since I have the effects right at my fingertips!

A lot of pedals like this are designed that way, from what I've seen. Not really a bad design unless you HAVE to switch that way while you're playing live or something.
@@Electric.Flamingoand it’s a design flaw on all of them. Maybe a separate 2 or 3 button footswitcher could be plugged in on this but I doubt it. If you’re a live player anything that requires simultaneously pressing 2 buttons or switches is just a massive, NOPE. It’s an extremely simple programming code to make the switches long press and short press. They could have easily made it a long press instead of needing to simultaneously pressing 2 different buttons. Switching patches/scenes etc live is basically the most important part of the setup. I know you can’t get it all for $80 but this would have been a 10 second programming change that would have made this thing so much more useable for live shows. Again, it is only $80 and having an XLR is pretty cool. And if the IR’s sound good that’s pretty sweet too. But having to press both switches at same time makes it unusable for most ppl live. Shit even at home it’d be a pain in the ass. But then again. Only $80 and I can give them some serious credit for that.
How can you compare this to Kemper or Axe Fx? I mean, it's not better or worse, it's just a totally different thing. It's like saying, "Let's see if pizza is better than ice cream"

Is the battery replaceable, or is it basically a disposable effects unit? Not having to plug it in is one thing, not being able to is different. I stopped using batteries years ago. I got a pedal board with its own power supply. 9 Volt batteries got too expensive. At least it looks like you can turn this thing off. Pedals are always on until you unplug the cord. Which leads to dead batteries on the second night of a two night gig, when you forget to unplug something. Running around at the last minute to find someplace to buy 9 volt batteries kind of sucks. If the battery is not replaceable, I can see a time where the battery is dead before the gig is over. Now what do you do.
Not a replaceable battery as far as I know. It doesn't run on 9v or anything like that, so if you want to call it disposable, that would best describe it.
@@Electric.Flamingo So if you want to rely on it for gigs, you better get two. For the price, I guess that's possible. Seems like another step in the wrong direction though, if you are at all concerned about the environment, or the health of the planet. Being a disposable society is already creating real issues.
@@michaelatiernan2371 That's the way it recharges, sure. But if you're at a gig, and the battery goes dead, you won't be playing again that night. That may not be a problem when it's new. Make sure it's charged before you leave for the gig. But as these batteries age, the charge goes away quicker all the time. Plus I'm sure these are lithium ion batteries. So once again you are supporting slave labor to have the minor convenience of not having to plug it in. I agree that it is more nonsense the world doesn't need.
I'm very surprised about this because I tried a lot of other budget modelers like Mooer, NUX, Valeton in this price range or above like $150-200, and this thing actually is just as good.
@@MrCrrispy any other info on this like internet threads? I have the v2 from AliExpress, I Love this pedal for the price but if it's going to have a battery fire I can ditch it
Seems pretty noisy for what it is. Bummer really. This in the loop of my NUX MG-30 could have been cool but the noise floor I'm hearing is nuts for such a device.
I am using a P90 to demonstrate the sounds, so I think that was my fault. It's some 60 cycle hum and again, it has a built in noise gate that works great.
Anybody that’s even slightly tech savvy, could drill a tiny hole in the back of it and install a pin jack that you could hook up an external AC adapter to it , plenty easy to do..

I actually like it when compared to Mooer, NUX, Valeton. Won't say it's better or worse, but I like it better for the simplicity and stompboard it has. It's right there along with the other budget modelers brands imo.
To be honest, the expensive units all have far too many models! You're never gonna need 50 different metal tones. Once an amp is overdriven, you'll have a tough job distinguishing it from another. You would never use that many live either.
I did plug it in, but I don't have a set up to record through USB-C. I tried to see if I could load my own IRs in or anything, but didn't figure it out so far.
@@Electric.Flamingo I’m kinda hoping I can get it to plug in straight to my iPad Pro and use through garage band in place of going through an interface, would make it a killer mobile recording set up. We’ll see once Amazon drops it off this weekend
@HardwiredQ oh, it's capable of mobile recording, if that's what you're asking. It will absolutely work with an iPad! The instrustion manual should detail how to do that more!
Whether you like this kind of digital gear or not, it is a testament to how inexpensive or cheap SMT / surface mount technology is to make. 99% of FX pedals made today are SMT builds. Boutique gear means nothing today, I digress. Think about $12.00 per unit but you pay 199.99 Cheap micro parts that can't be repaired. I find these greedy #$$%%^ disgusting. A EYE has taken over the industry because guitars, amps, pedals , keys ETC. are dirt cheap to make. The only ones who benefit is them. Do your research. They play on your ignorance, don't be a dumb as.
Claickbait isn't going to get you anywhere. This sounds nothing like, nor has anything close to an AXEFX. Clickbait gets the downvote, everytime. make better videos and you won't need to do this.

I'm not trying to shit on you dude, but you know you can do better. Sorry if I come from a time when people looked at dishonest advertising and called it for what it was. I could have been a sub for a mediocre channel, but when there are better, honest channels out there that don't rely on bullshit nefarious tactics, I'll go there. Money is hard to come by when you don't live at home with mummy and daddy.
How exactly can I "do better" though? I demonstrated a product pretty well, I think and gave an honest opinion. Is the thumbnail and title clickbaity? Yeah, but that's the game. Obviously, the Kemper is better than this. But, for someone on a budget or just getting into this type of stuff, it's great. Maybe someone who is looking for an alternative will search for "Kemper alternative" and this could come up. Is it truly? No. Is it kinda? Yeah, kinda in a way.

It must be rechargeable via the usb port, surely? Still, it's more electronic nonsense the world doesn't need.
When you mention to your wife you want to buy a Kemper and she says you have one at home already this is it😂
😂😂
Is the XLR out Stereo, or just mono?
Mono.
Purchased one of these tank-gs under another name a while ago and it sounded like garbage! Now it just collects dust!
Sounds like you weren't using it right.
I'm very surprised about this because I tried a lot of other budget modelers like Mooer, NUX, Valeton in this price range or above like $150-200, and this thing actually is just as good.
How do you switch channels with your foot when on the floor!
Just click one of the silver buttons! You have 4 channels on each bank.
This is more like a SansAmp Fly Rig if you ask me
Yeah, maybe but that's not a catchy title. 😅
Saying it’s an Axe/fx or Kemper for $80 is like saying a Ford Fiesta is a Ferrari for $10000. It clearly isn’t!
It's almost like it's clickbait. 😱
The battery issue of the M-Wave version is fixed on this one?
Perhaps, I'm not aware of any battery issues.
@@Electric.Flamingo they caught fire, but they are supposed to have fixed the issue in recent versions
@@MrCrrispy any other info on this like internet threads? I have the v2 from AliExpress, I Love this pedal for the price but if it's going to have a battery fire I can ditch it
@@HELLNAWW you should be able to google it easily, but as said, supposed to be fixed in V2 and above
Seems pretty noisy for what it is. Bummer really. This in the loop of my NUX MG-30 could have been cool but the noise floor I'm hearing is nuts for such a device.
I will say, it is a but noisy, but I also didn't have the noise gate engaged. It has one built in and you could always use one with it if need be!
@Electric.Flamingo True but gates introduce other problems.
Doesn’t look like it has a boost pedal function if so would be perfect.
It works with other pedals, so if you have one, put it in the chain and it'll work fine!
please review the M-Vave Blackbox
If I can find one to try out, I'll consider it!
Right… Best feature îs the always on blanket.
allmost not a clickbait
I’ll try it
It's to noisy I don't have any humming or static on my rig .good for beginner to start .
I am using a P90 to demonstrate the sounds, so I think that was my fault. It's some 60 cycle hum and again, it has a built in noise gate that works great.
Dude use a wire those cheap wirless adapter scrap the tone injabe the same by joyo and they bleed my tone 😅😢
I really have never noticed a huge tone shift using wireless vs cables.
Epic fail to not have an option to run an AC adapter. I don't trust battery only and it will stop holding a charge over time.
Yeah, but for $80 and if you take care of it, you would more than get your money's worth out of it.
Anybody that’s even slightly tech savvy, could drill a tiny hole in the back of it and install a pin jack that you could hook up an external AC adapter to it , plenty easy to do..
This is like the m-wave tank.
Probably so!
Playwell..M-vave etc.All the same company in China I believe.
A lot of hissing noise when you stop playing....
Lots of gain on tap. Utilizing the built in noise gate can help with that!
So does a normal amp when cranked though. I think it's an intrinsic part of the modeling.
Another spoiled UA-camr with there state of the art studio and gear doing demos of gear most of us common folk could ever afford… 😊 No for real I love the pink decor and plastic flamingos just goes to show that if you’re good at what you do, you don’t need a bunch of fancy shit just use what you got and be grateful for it. Love your video and I will for sure like and subscribe.
You had me going in the first half...lol. It's all about using what you got and gear nowadays is so much better than it was years ago. Thank you! ⚡️🦩
Стоит 80$ а звучит на все 82$ !!!❤
Great demonstration but I think the sound of this unit are poor.
I actually like it when compared to Mooer, NUX, Valeton. Won't say it's better or worse, but I like it better for the simplicity and stompboard it has. It's right there along with the other budget modelers brands imo.
You shouldn't have used a wireless. Having said that it just sounds okay. With a lot of processing in the mixing it could sound really cool though.
Well, more or less, I used it because it was also a Lekato product I had.
Copy MVave Tank G Green Color Ann File n Sound I try all out The Black Box Better... Thats All Price Also Cheap Then Lekato Website
its a shame you didnt demonstrate this with a speaker where it actually does sound good. Right now I am skeptical.
I thought it sounded okay, but thanks, I guess.
He did play it through a speaker, and it sounded pretty good to me
I like the video. Thanks for taking the time & effort to make it
To be honest, the expensive units all have far too many models! You're never gonna need 50 different metal tones. Once an amp is overdriven, you'll have a tough job distinguishing it from another. You would never use that many live either.
Very true. With this, you have like 8 amps and 7 IRs with 5 effects. And it does the job.
Pfft... I think the $69.00 Zoom G1 FOUR sounds a lot better.
Isn't this Pedal the cheaper version of this: ua-cam.com/video/t5MVdDfvZV8/v-deo.html
I would have to say they look very similar so most likely, yes.
Interesting but I am not a fan of any gear that operates only on a battery.
So, plug the USB-C in and use it as direct power. 🤷♂️
@@Electric.Flamingodrum roll...badumcha!
My memo...
Sounds meh, very digital. But comparing this with Kemper, never. It’s a decent pedal for beginners. A Kemper is for professionals.
honestly it sounds like hot garbage. flamma fx100 being only a bit more would take you further.
Not quite sure why everyone says it sounds bad. 🤷♂️
This little effects unit can do amp profiling and load IRs, so with a little bit of work, you`re obviously wrong.
Amazon listing says you can direct into a computer with usb c too did you try that.
@@Electric.Flamingoperfect thank you!
So inexpensive for so much yet the sound quality is the question . Better off with saving for something better?
So you're a swinger 😁
Evidently so
cool playing, but awfull sound, sounds like something from 2010, you play like the gods bro, no hate
Sound is subjective, I think it sounds pretty good for what it is. I appreciate the kind words, though! ⚡️🦩
Useless, noisy and does not come out in stereo ,good its under 100.00. Keep strumming ❤😊
If you're recording, you want to record in mono, so I'm not sure why that is such a big deal, honestly.
That crapy sound sounds wonderfull to me.
Sound is subjective, so it you like it, awesome!
Sounds like the 40 dollar Zoom and not in a good way.
I have not heard one usable tone. Nice toy though
Well, they're there. 🤷♂️
The hog ring is distracting
Sorry that a piercing ruined your viewing experience. 🤷♂️
Mono and no midi this is a toy then
I think it's a legit piece of gear, but to each his own. 🤷♂️
That’s a generic multi fx unit, I’ve seen maaaany brands put their logo on it
Whether you like this kind of digital gear or not, it is a testament to how inexpensive or cheap SMT / surface mount technology is to make. 99% of FX pedals made today are SMT builds. Boutique gear means nothing today, I digress. Think about $12.00 per unit but you pay 199.99
Cheap micro parts that can't be repaired. I find these greedy #$$%%^ disgusting. A EYE has taken over the industry because guitars, amps, pedals , keys ETC. are dirt cheap to make. The only ones who benefit is them. Do your research. They play on your ignorance, don't be a dumb as.
My Boss GT1 sounds way better than this.
You should research what Blackstar has done. What a bag of shit company.
Not familiar with what they have done, but I understand a lot of people hate on them.
Claickbait isn't going to get you anywhere. This sounds nothing like, nor has anything close to an AXEFX. Clickbait gets the downvote, everytime. make better videos and you won't need to do this.
Well, the video is at almost 100k views, so it's gotten me somewhere, thank you for your contribution as well. My videos are fine as is, it's called "drawing you in."
I'm listening to this through some great headphones but it still sounds bad. I'm going to swerve this awful sounding sh1tshow.
Okay, cool, I guess. 🤷♂️
Great! Now I only need 8 years of playing 4 hours a day to be a half decent guitar player and actually sound good 🤗🫡
Even playing a few minutes a day can help!
