  • GARLIC BREAD PIZZA 2 WAYS AND VEGAN
We're slicing through the ordinary with an extraordinary twist on a classic - Garlic French Bread Pizzas, two ways. Crispy, golden edges with a duo of toppings: the creamy, pesto-laden white pizza and the spicy, robust red pizza. All vegan, all flavor. No fuss, just pure culinary craft. With a great way to make that vegan cheese melt with molten hot greatness. Let's bake.

    Garlic Bread Pizzas 2 WAYS
    Ingredients:
1 block (450g) extra firm tofu, sliced in half
1 large, wide loaf of French bread or similar
230ml (approximately 1 cup) olive oil
    White Pizza Toppings:
225g extra firm tofu, shaved thin
    4-5 tablespoons fresh pesto
3-4 tablespoons fresh grated garlic in olive oil
100g baby spinach (2 large handfuls), wilted and excess water squeezed out
1/3 of a leek, sliced into thin rounds
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    1 teaspoon lemon zest
Fresh cracked black pepper to taste
    Salt to taste
    Red Pizza Toppings:
225g extra firm tofu, shaved thin
    1 cup tomato sauce
    Seasoning for Tofu (Sausage-Pepperoni Flavor):
2 tablespoons fresh garlic in olive oil
1 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
    1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    1 teaspoon Oregano
    1 tablespoon fennel seeds, crushed
1 teaspoon flake salt (use sparingly if fine salt)
    ¾ teaspoon black peppercorns, crushed
    Salt to taste
    For the Tofu:
Slice the block of tofu in half and shave thinly.
In separate bowls, combine the respective seasonings listed under each pizza topping category. Mix well and allow to marinate while preparing the rest of the pizza ingredients.
    The 'Melty Cheese':
5 tablespoons Oatly Greek-style yogurt (or any vegan Greek-style yogurt)
1 cup vegan shredded cheese (choose your favorite variety)
    A pinch of salt
    Instructions:
Mix the vegan shredded cheese with the Greek-style yogurt until well combined. Add a pinch of salt if needed.
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). If using a convection/fan oven, set to that setting; if not, be aware that baking may take a little longer.
Proceed with assembling your pizzas with the toppings as desired.
    Notes:
    - Consider adding nutritional yeast to the 'Melty Cheese' mixture for an extra cheesy flavor.
    - For a crispier base, consider toasting the French bread lightly before adding the toppings.
    - If the spinach has a lot of water after wilting, squeeze it to reduce the moisture content, so it doesn't make the pizza soggy

Derek I love your videos I grew up in a pizza shop my parents had two and my husband and I have one today. We started several years ago selling vegan cheese pizzas and several vegan options and it’s amazing to see the popularity!

Amazing video, and you're completely on point about dairy, we need to start seeing subsidies shift to level the playing field out for the plant based cheeses, and you present it really positively, we need to call people in to learn and make their own choices and not call them out.
I'm not really keen on the store bought vegan cheeses myself as well, I tend to use blended cashews leftover from homemade milk, then mix in some tapioca starch and flavours and use that as a liquid straight on the pizza, cooks up really nicely!

YUMMMMMM! Made these today for Superbowl and they were gone before the game started! I described them as.."Pesto/Veggie and Tomato/Sausage". All I heard was.. "WOW!"! "This is REALLY GOOD!" and "Is there more?!"! They went FAST and NO ONE asked about the sausage or missed it!
Since I had Miyoko's Pourable Mozzarella, I drizzled it over the pizza and finished with the yogurt/cheese combo. DELISH!

Had this for lunch today. Typically, I dont have all the ingredients. So instead of leek, i used vidalia onion and sauteed it a few minutes. I had plain vegan yogurt, no greek, so i lined a sieve with paper towel and let it sit for awhile. No pesto but did have a little fresh basil so cut it and mixed in the cheese. I had some cooked slice mushrooms, threw them on the white one. It was darn good. The cheez surprisingly tasty.

OMG.. This way of slicing and seasoning Tofu is AMAZING! I tried different cuts from cubes to thicker slices and I could never give Tofu a taste of any seasoning. I can actually taste the flavor on it by slicing it thin. Thanks for this tip. You saved Tofu from being thrown out in my kitchen !!! Great recipe. Easy and fast.

Loved this recipe and video. Thank you for sharing your feelings on dairy. I agree and I am vegan 🌱 for life, too. With great chefs like you, sharing your amazing recipes, there is no need for animals to be used by humans ever again. Restaurants all over the world, take note. There are easier, cheaper, tastier, healthier ways to feed your customers, and do the right thing for this planet.❤

Looks so good! Can't wait to try the cheese mixture. That's been the hardest to give up but I haven't touched dairy cheese since I went vegan a couple years ago.

It's about 7:30am at the moment for me and my stomach just yelled, "We need both of these pizzas in our life", lol. These look absolutely delicious! I'm curious to know if the garlic oil can be canned (Mason jar) and used at a later time for other things, if made in a larger batch. If so, what would the shelf life be? Anywho, thank you for a great video. I'm going to totally try this recipe!

woah, the idea with the yoghurt is incredible. i always get annoyed by store bought shredded "cheese", it's pricey but it just won't melt well enough. i'll recreate this soon! and thank u so much for being compassionate 💗
