I find that when rolling on paint, doing a second coat with a good and wet roller soon after the first works much better. My personal choice though is an airless sprayer. But, the rollers waste less paint and are easy to clean up (disposable tray and cover, throw em both on oil based), and you can get good results that way too.
Cutting it very, very slightly with naphtha can help too. Just a hair though, it should be close to the viscosity of a somewhat thin motor oil.
That said, I’m no painter, and I don’t have many skills in that wheelhouse :)
