@@SmokinMonkeyOG Dude, finding a good camera is about the hardest thing ever because even after you decide on one, you find that it doesn't have this or that feature lol such a chunk of change gone also
Hello! I don't usually leave comments but I just wanted to thank you for the content you've been putting out, this video is especially well made. I have a blue 17' SV650 as well, it's my first bike, and it's super valuable to me to see the way you mod yours and what you think about it. Ride safe and all the best for your channel!
I appreciate the side by side comparison. you went out of your way for us, thank you! I prefer the stock light. Yes the new one is brighter but you're right, the stock one covers more area. Thanks for all your videos and content!
Yes, for night riding the stock H4 seems better to me than the Auxito LED because of the covered area. If you only ride in daytime the Auxito might be more visible. Thank you for showing. Will you test the Phillips and Osram bulbs too? They may cover a larger area.
This review changed my mind not to switch to LEDs. Halogen rocks, old school classic look and easy on the eye for others too. Thx bro for such a gr8 review. Would never switch to leds until it comes stock
The led looks like it would shine further down road. You could probably adjust your headlight to aim a little further down the road without adjusting so far up as to blind incoming traffic.
Yep just bought this for my Yamaha bolt. I like how it draws 15W compared to my stock halogen 55W bulb. Less power drawn, which is a bonus. This video helped knowing that it’s basically the same as the original bulb, but different color. Thanks for the comparison, it helped out.
I think it comes down to personal preference. The halogen definitely has a bigger lit spot on the road, but I prefer the looks of the led. Im getting a white LED myself to go with the 2 white running lights, as I have on my GSX headlight unit on my SV. Thanks for the review
I suppose it'll make a significant difference on a rainy day. When Street light luminance almost hides the painted lines and signs on the wet asphalt after sunset
The led def has a better clarity to it. Also have you tried raising your headlight a little (point it up just a hair) the led should reach out a lot further then it is in this video. Just a guess on my part. It made a difference for my bike.
You should see road signs way quicker with the LED. The white light reflects it way better than the halogens. Great video and very well done, thank you.
The halogen bulb is more friendly for your eyes and to other people in the traffic . Led bulb s are banned and illegal to equip vehicles in many European countries !
Hmm that’s interesting I didn’t know they banned them in some. I do agree that they are not very good for people other than the one using the LED. They create too much light for oncoming traffic.
@@9233267 it's not so much that the LED's are too bright it's that they're not angled properly, if they were angled properly they'd aim into the road and not oncoming traffic.
The halogen is better .. led just has nicer colour .You should try another led more powerful. Also high beam on the led sucks .. it's supposed to light way more far
Through a random search i found this video, and you did a great job. When you first said you got it for free i was skeptical, thinking you would sing it undue praises, sending us to your affiliate link. I was happy to be wrong, as this was a great review. Since then, have you found any better solutions? Looking to maximize my throw, as we have a ton of dear where i live. Cheers mate!
It’s a Givi and it sucks lol I personally like the meter visor the best. It helps break up the wind enough for me when I’m riding. It doesn’t look like it does anything but it actually helps a lot
Spread and throw seems better on the original, and the high beam is a bit useless, I had an led bulb which was like that, I'm on the Mk3 led bulb and this seems better than the two previous attempts
The cluster only displays in black and white so not sure where you see these colours but if you’re talking about the thicker notches for 0 rpm 5000rmp and 10,000rmp. They’re just so you can easily glance down and see where your rpms are without having to stare at the clutter too long. 0 or obviously 0, 5000rpm is the limit you should stay in for break in period and for casual riding you can use the 5000 mark as a good shift point. As for the 10,000 it’s your redline and basically the top end of the power band. You won’t be able to much past 10,000 because of the limiter. You’ll bounce off the limiter if you stretch gears to the end of the rpm range. Trust me I’ve done it. It’s cuts power for a split second and you bounce the rpms off 9800-10000 so the bike doesn’t destroy its engine
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I was referring to the grey LHS and blue tint RHS on your dual screen comparison vid at night. Its not a screen phenomenon, its in the vid.
It’s a naked bike there’s not much wind protection unless you add a wind screen. I tested a few on my channel if you want to check them out. Personally I stuck with the meter visor to help with wind. It actually breaks up the air really well.
I did the same a while back, albeit with a different brand known as “nighteye” I found both on high beam and dip there was less of a beam in the led so switched back and bought a halogen night vision which was better in everyday, oh I’ve just taken my givi screen off and yes your right it’s actually better with it off, less pressure directed at my helmet, better steering can’t actually believe the difference. I’m going to review the tuck and roll seat next, thought doubt I’ll get anywhere near good production as you. Ride safe
Ya I find it’s not a big ‘upgrade’ over stock but it was nice to see the difference and now know what I want. Like you I think I like halogen better. And I can’t wait to get my meter visor back on haha
Have you tried the stock SV650 seat? I have it and its harsh after 3-4 hours. Thinking about upgraidng but heard the tuck and roll isn't that much of an improvement

@@SmokinMonkeyOG Cool, I find the stock to get super hard. I'm 5'9 168. Thinking about a Corbin or Sargeant...but so many mixed reviews as to whether they are an improvement or not.
I am seriously considering the SV for my next bike, own an XT660Z currently, and have watched all of your videos. Thank you very much for your really helpful work mate ! I did notice a difference in the white balance of your side by side videos of the 2 lamps so I am not really sure if their color is correctly represented. In the halogen part, the bike’s LCD screen appears kinda blue whereas in the LED light screen, the LCD screen appears pure white. So I am guessing that for some reason the light of the lamps appear to have different temperatures. Or perhaps I am totally wrong and miss something.
Thanks man! I actually noticed that too but I had all the camera settings set the same on both shots and I shot them about 10min apart. I think it had something to do with the white balance like you said but I think it’s because the camera used the light as a baseline since there was barely anything else to see.
Another fantastic video. I was searching for info on replacing the stock bulb with an LED on an SV650 (it looks like I'll have one in a couple of weeks, now). I should have known the Smokin' Monkey would come up as a resource. :-) Very good video. It looks like it is brighter, but it looked in the video like maybe the pattern isn't as large, and doesn't throw as far. Is that the case? Now, a year later, is it still in? Or did you go back to halogen?
Still have the LED in for now. I prefer the white better than the yellow hues from halogen bulbs so I stuck with it. It does have a bit smaller pattern on the road but I don’t mind that much and I usually don’t ride in the country at night so there’s always street lights around to help illuminate the road.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Good explanation. Thanks. Maybe I'll stick with the stock unless/until I run across something else. Most of my riding will be in the country, with almost no streetlights.
