We got them on Amazon and there’s a bunch of brands that are the exact same but this is the ones that we use and they work pretty well in the rack that we built. I would separate them if you are using a small enclosure ie: 20gallon fish tank setup. You don’t want to stress out the mom to much since you only have one female. Also if they are stressed during birth they are more likely to eat their babies.

Just wondering I dont like putting too much strain on my breeder female rats.....see having trouble getting my female rats pregnant and they are less than 6 months old.....my ratio is one female to 4/5 males and they still look unpregnant. How long do you leave your males in with females afew weeks?? What age do you retire your breeder females??.....Thanx.

I think these are 1/4 inch but for the rats we use 1/2 inch.

The dog food could be causing your mice to be cannabalistic. Kent mouse food works well.
If i were to remove all the pinkies just after birth, can the female have another pregnancy in the week after the birh? Would it hurt her?
Yes that would be a good amount of time.

i use one male to 5-9 females
What size or how many grams do you start breeding your female rats?
Hell I’m not sure. We don’t really weigh them. We just judge based on visual size. Not very scientific but it works.
