Just wanted to comment on your latest video regarding Sufi wahhabi Ashari and totally agree! I’m a Hanbali via دراسة مع الإجازة and I’ve studied the Shafi school to the same level. However in Aqeedah I’m Athari or Hanbali and there’s a difference between the modern day salafies and the Egyptian and Syrian Hanbali imams that my chains reach back to Imams like Abdur-Rahmaan Al-Ba’li and As-Safaareeni who clearly assert and affirm that the Ash’aris and Matureedis are schools of bonafide Sunni beliefs and this is 100% the position I adopt. What’s more is those same Imams were practising tasawwuf! In fact one of the last says in the mathhab and the book upon which fatwa is given is منتهى الارادات written by Imam Al-Buhooti Al-Khalwati! Khalwati is an ascription to the famous sufi order that utilises khalwa as a spiritual tool to achieve purification of the soul and guidance! Despite this being my outlook I still get abused by Asharis because they refuse to make any distinction. I think this sectarianism is ghastly and noxious and that it’s time for the whole ummah to reconcile and finally just agree to disagree with respect and scholarliness. The question is how on earth do we reach the minds of these people because they represent extremes and if you add to them the extreme liberals and sell out and/or apostates it’s as if these internal forces are trying to annihilate the ummah or weaken it to the point that holding on to one’s religion is very very difficult indeed.
If belief is a real subjective experience, can placebo and nocibo effects be real subjective experiences? If the answer is yes, then, what prevents one to demand scientific prove for beliefs just as you demand for placebo/nocibo effects? Personally, science is important but it has limits. That is not to say we should scientific proves for our worldly affairs including health. Jazaka Allah khayr!
Alhumdulillah awesome conversation Jazakallahu Khairan Dr. Mohamed Ghilan and Ahmed Khan for sharing this with us
