I've not seen a video for a while and OMG! Dude your language and confidence has come so far! It's still a dream for me to be able to hold a simple conversation with my partner's family in Turenki. You're doing great with Finnish! Conjugating words correctly isn't the only thing that matters, the most important is that your Finnish is perfectly understandable and pronunciation is on point! Pronunciation especially is not very easy for many people. Also: Leo is too sweet ♥♥♥
My Finnish boyfriend had to translate everything to me 😄 but we are both fans and been following your progress for years and man you’re killing it!
P.S. please pleeeeease never ever pick berries next to a road! Doesn’t matter if it’s barely used, gas from cars seeps into soil and near by nature for years to come and you’re basically picking berries/mushrooms that grew up soiled by gas. Even going 3 meters from the road into the forest changes a lot.

You should really be proud of yourself Dave. You have come quite a way this year. Your Finnish speaking is becoming more natural now and you are getting into a flow of speaking in Finnish. So proud of you! keep speaking finnish :) Itse kympin oppilas enkussa ja pystyn kattoo leffoja ilman tekstityksiä ja lukee kirjoja mut puhua en uskalla. Monet suomalaiset on hyviä englannissa mut sama ongelma kun mulla ettei uskalla puhua, kun lausuminen on niin vaikeeta. Suomi on paljon vaikeempaa ja puhut sitä silti, se on tosi ihailtavaa :)
4:00 ei oo ees täydellistä suomea, kun pitäisi sanoa "nyt me meneMME metsään" mut useesti puhekielessä käytetään passiivista muotoa eli sanotaan "me mennään" eikä "(me) menemme".

I've watched some of your first videos about the Finnish language, such as the one where you were learning swear words in Finnish. You've become so advanced with your language skills since then!! Amazing work, Dave!
This was such a wholesome video. We can understand you perfectly, and all the small mistakes just makes it both fun and strangely heartwarming. (For example, you said that you need a barber, the person, instead of needing a haircut) You're clearly trying your best and it's pays off well!

But you know, if you really wanted to raise your fluency and comfort when speaking/understanding Finnish to the next level, all you need to do is to agree with Cat that 1 day per week you’ll strictly only speak Finnish between you two, nothing else! I guarantee, do that for a year and you’ll get rid of all that discomfort associated with putting yourself out there in foreign language. ”Languages are not learned, but rather we get used to them”.

It's so intresting of how he gets accent when he really consentrates on speaking Finnish and making longer part or whole video in Finnish. Then again when he is just casually dropping some Finnish in his videos, his accent is spot on like native speakers accent. I guess it means that he just needs to get bit more confident on those longer talks too. For many accent of language is the hardest part to get right but not for him. :)

I like these Finnish videos a lot! It's perfectly ok to mix English and Swedish into your speech, we natives do it a lot too. I love seeing you interact with Leo, you guys are going to be inseparable when he grows up (if you aren't already)!

I love these videos!
This cottage looks more like a regular finnish house in the countryside. I like our cottage which does not have central heating, electricity or water. We have a generator for elecricity, you just bring your own drinking water and have rain water in a barrel for washing up and throwing löyly in the sauna. And for heating you just have wood in a kind of stove. I love that kind of mökki, you're not watching tv or on the phone that much, but just doing cottage things like grilling food and going to sauna and such.
