I stayed at The Hotel Carter years back. It was a block from Times Square and cost $99 a night. The room had a mattress on the floor and a dresser with a 13" TV on it. However, the water pressure in the shower was the strongest I've ever felt.
The scary part is that they were likely correct. Your brain can sense when you're being stalked and watched (as long as they are in your overall field of vision).

About a month ago I stayed at the Westin in Times Square. I was on the 35th floor and right outside my window I could look down on the roof of the Hotel Carter. From the looks of it, I honestly thought it had been abandoned. Probably nobody had been on the roof in years. Just trash and bits of building everywhere. Came here to see if I could find any information on the hotel and found this. Thanks for this.

I live in NY and the Carter has a reputation for being derelict/dangerous. I've seen photos of the rooms from travelers and the condition of some of them is horrifying. It's a shame because the building has great Art Deco architecture and is in the most bustling tourist area in all of Manhattan. I've read about all the numerous crimes and deaths that have occurred there over the years, including the multiple murders. Aside from being a rundown relic of the city's seedier history, it just seems like a somber, eerie place. I'm sure it's haunted.

The bar is fun and nice tho people set around out side the door and smoke weed like its nothing. I accidentally stayed there while working in Jersey for a couple months it was a wild experience. I asked the maid what was going on and evidently a guy hired what he thought was 2 ladies of the evening and they promptly tied him to the bed and robbed him leaving him tied to the bed.
