First off, a popular career for computer science majors is becoming a mobile developer or iOS engineer. A mobile developer (as the name implies) will primarily work on developing software either for Android or iOS. As a mobile developer you might be working on a specific company's mobile app, or even the mobile platform itself.
A hyped up career path for computer science students is the machine learning and artificial intelligence engineer. As an ML engineer, you'll be responsible for developing the implementation around the machine learning model, as well as constructing the model with good data.
If you like data and software engineering, but don't want to go into machine learning, becoming a database engineer might be the right career path for you. Database engineers handle the maintenance and development of databases (whether that's setting up new databases or making sure that software engineers are querying the database correctly).
Another subset of computer science is network engineering. As a network engineer, you'll focus on planning and maintaining a company's networks. So that could include: server maintenance, cable management, computer accessibility levels etc. If you are an information technology major or a computer science major with a specific interest in IT, network engineering could be a great career path for you!
If you like breaking other's people code, or thinking of unique scenarios to push a software engineer's feature, definitely check out becoming a quality assurance engineer or software tester. QA engineers will make sure that all requirements of a specific piece of software is met, and can handle any potential bugs/scenarios that may arise. QA engineers are vital specifically for customer facing software!
Lastly, another popular computer science major career path is that of the engineering manager. Generally, engineering managers will have more years of experience compared to a fresh computer science student right out of college. As an engineering manager, you will have the technical background to influence software projects, but also have the responsibility of managing teams of software engineers!
