I actually had covid but didn't know it at the time. Got tested 2 days later because I was getting worse and it twigged when I was roasting a chicken and had no sense of smell or taste. Luckily I gave it to no one else and over it now.
I’ve had to cancel or change loads of recent camping plans due to covid / storm Arwen so great to see two blokes getting out and having fun in the sleet. Nice one 👍
I've yet to go out and see the extent of the storm damage. There will be trees down in every woods so plenty of fire wood and building material for next year. Thanks for watching Graham, ATB.

I only took the Osmo Action because I couldn't be bothered to do serious filming but what I captured under crappy low light turned out ok. I cut corners but still turned out ok but wont do that again because the filming quality was rubbish
The most important thing is audio and good lighting, because those little action cams have such a small sensor, you need good light, especially in a dark forest.

A bivy camp this time of year is great because there are no bugs but 15 hours of darkness confined to your shelter does require comfort and a hammock is the best solution.
I've only heard good things about Easthills hammocks. I should have took them up on the offer of one but I don't want people thinking the channel is all about getting free stuff, especially when I'm not that into hammock camping.
Its very enjoyable building shelters, something unique you have created yourself. And the best thing is, it doesnt cost much and you learn something new along the way.
Ive watched everyone of your vids Damien and the ones of you camping by yourself in the spooky forest scare even a seasoned wildcamper like myself. Ive done a few one nighters in Wark forest with my mate and i still get a bit spooked. Haha
It's human nature to get spooked, I still get like that sometimes. I tell myself, it's safer to be in the forest alone than being in some dodgey area surrounded by people.

I was pleased to be able to include footage from the earlier camp. I didn't have enough for a full video but what we had was priceless. Hope your doing ok, I'm over forest fever now, but it was tough. I couldn't even smell what Jimmy was cooking or my own food come to think of it and I lacked any appetite to eat. I was getting worse with time but thought it was just the drink when the next day I had no energy, just running on reserve power and felt totally drained.
I invested in a DD superlight jungle hammock. Small change for some folks, I know, but it’s the best bit of kit I ever bought. Deployed on the ground, or up a height in no time - obviously, you have to try it in fair weather, not foul. until it’s second nature - and the comfort level is... all you could possibly want, or need. As a fell walker and budget/wild camper for 40+ years, I know the expense makes sense. I’m too old to ’hope for the best’, but still young enough to get out there and be comfortable, without breaking my back with the weight or the price. If you are young, buy a second-hand army bivi bag and just go for it! ... April to October - other months may not apply - you know it makes sense.

Its here now and quite windy. I don't know whether I prefer mild weather but wet and windy or dry but freezing cold. I just hate winter and can't wait for spring to arrive, ATB
Up till a couple of years ago, bugs and especilaly ticks never bothered me. I don't know whether its mild winters not killing them off or just bad luck but ticks have bitten me a few times now. Its got me wanting to hammock camp more in summer to be off the ground. Midgies don't seem to get in the army bivy when I close up the hole but I now prefer the Stratosphere for all bivy camps, unless its winter when I like the army bag because there arent many bugs.
I'm all for keeping things simple myself. Now then, was it damp in the bivi? and if yes do you think you might of overdone the insulation. being to warm is as bad as being to cold apparently. I've the same set up as you, and I wondering if I shouldn't have a canvas cover made to throw over the bivi in an attempt to reduce condensation. lol, so now I have a bivi to protect the sleeping bag, and a canvas tarp to protect the bivi and a flying tarp to keep off the rain. the thing is, for an extra kilo, would it help keep things dry?.
It was warm and dry in the bivy. Condensation, moisture and dampness will be there in small amounts, its the nature of bivy camping. If I repeat camping over a number of nights, my bag will start to feel damp with reduced insulation over time. Being warm is not the same as being cold, makes no sense in what you say?. total contradiction. If you are warm be happy, if you are cold , worry about hyperthermia.
@@Fell_Wanderer my point, or should that be, experts on the subject suggest you should avoid sweating in a bivi,or sleeping bag as it increases the moisture in your set up. What with you mentioning damp gear in the morning I was curious if that included your sleep system?. by the way, been watching your vids for years, if I might make a cheeky suggestion?. have you thought about the rab siltarp three?12*10.. I have both the one and three. I recon if you got the sil three, you'd be mightily impressed, like a palace under there. two poles/branches and you have an impromptu cheap trail-star tent.
I think the Siltarp 3 would be nice but I have the DD Superlight 3m x 3m which packs down really small. When I'm in the bivy, I try to sleep with my head outside the bag to cut down on condensation. It won't go away completely especially when its 100 percent humid outside. Thats why I prefer to use a bivy in conjuntion with a tarp as an extra layer against the elements, then I dont have to be breathing in the bag creating condensation..
We are planning on getting out soon, I don't think he's into camping as much as me but I do know he hasn't been able to get out as much due to works commitments.
It's holding an edge well and I think its a great knife, but rarely use it because its overkill for the bushcraft I do. Got given a smaller blade from a friend which sits on my belt better and hardly know its there so prefer using that.
I slept well because at the time full of vodka. I also had covid dude and didn't know at the time. Felt rough the next day and very dehydrated. Thought I was still hung over for 2 days afterwards then got tested for the virus. Was gutted and worried my family would get it but luckily I was the only one and I pulled through ok fully unvaxxed by the way. Natural immunity won the day.
I am still interested in making videos dude, was off sick with covid and been doing a bit of wildlife photography not camping. I'm still out there, just not filming unless I feel inspired.

I slept well because at the time full of vodka. I also had covid dude and didn't know at the time. Felt rough the next day and very dehydrated. Thought I was still hung over for 2 days afterwards then got tested for the virus. Was gutted and worried my family would get it but luckily I was the only one and I pulled through ok fully unvaxxed by the way. Natural immunity won the day.

I am still interested in making videos dude, was off sick with covid and been doing a bit of wildlife photography not camping. I'm still out there, just not filming unless I feel inspired.
