The best part of a grueling bike ride such as yours is the delicious meal you have afterward! Everything tastes so much better after biking! It makes all the sand, dust, heat, sweat, leg cramps worth it! You are really inspiring Joel! Keep up the great videos my friend!

That ridge line ride was amazing! Get yourself a lightweight neck gaiter that can be used as a mask on dusty roads. It can also be soaked in water to cool you down.
Well Joel, the whole trip was amazing and I don't know how your body holds up on rides this long. But the best part was the end. You talking about trusting the good in the world. Although it is very rural it is very clean, simple people growing their own food, building their own houses. Joel riding, talking and recording must loose your breath thankyou for doing this. Great video

Another old one, I think one of the videos made using only a GoPro :) :) haha, I feel like apologizing for the quality at first, but then I realize that some of these had GREAT stories, things I was trying to capture for the first time!! THIS trip was as much adventure as we who live in Chiang Mai can get, this really was a trip to the unknown (two overnights, totally new roads, new villages (for us :) and a looooot of distance under the sun!!)

Let me say sorry for not watching and commenting sooner. I had a big weekend and am just catching up with you and your adventures. What a RIDE! So much to see, so many people to talk to (or communicate on a base level) so many hills to climb. WHEW! I wasn't even there and I'm tired! The same mountain twice? WOW! Murl, You always amaze me and I’m always smiling as I read through your messages. Ha ha legs of iron… They feel a bit more like jelly right now, or molten iron, I’m taking a rest day tomorrow. So, I'm just north of Mae Win at a temple complex that had about 350 stair steps to get up to the shrine. Two Thai guys ride up on bikes and ran up the stairs. They told me they ride 30 KM in the morning and run the steps, then they do it again. They told me they were in training to Ride Denali National Park in Alaska. I asked if they were aware a Grizzly Bear can run 56 KPH. The expressions on their faces screamed they hadn't even thought about bears. Stay safe!

Ron hi, thanks again for a great message. You know what, these villages actually do not have water to sell, but thinking a bit more deeply, I guess they would have no reason to. The amount of actual “travelers,” or tourists they see here would be next to zero, almost completely local traffic and I do mean totally local, they would never have anyone to sell the water to... I bought a soy milk instead and just rode gently to the next village, it was about an hour

Kelvin!! I am happy with the one comment and cracking up at the second part… I guess I am very fortunate to have both good genes for eating, and also the adventurous spirit to accompany those genes. In all my years of living in foreign countries, and in all of the years traveling, I’ve only been sick from food three times that I can think about. So it is very very rare, and neither of those were food poisoning, probably just way too much foreign bacteria, my body was not ready for it.

That ridge line ride was amazing! Get yourself a lightweight neck gaiter that can be used as a mask on dusty roads. It can also be soaked in water to cool you down.

So, I'm just north of Mae Win at a temple complex that had about 350 stair steps to get up to the shrine. Two Thai guys ride up on bikes and ran up the stairs. They told me they ride 30 KM in the morning and run the steps, then they do it again. They told me they were in training to Ride Denali National Park in Alaska. I asked if they were aware a Grizzly Bear can run 56 KPH. The expressions on their faces screamed they hadn't even thought about bears. Stay safe!

Ron hi, thanks again for a great message. You know what, these villages actually do not have water to sell, but thinking a bit more deeply, I guess they would have no reason to. The amount of actual “travelers,” or tourists they see here would be next to zero, almost completely local traffic and I do mean totally local, they would never have anyone to sell the water to... I bought a soy milk instead and just rode gently to the next village, it was about an hour

The dream is to continue to do all the things I have been doing (for at least 5 years now, these things are just what I already do in a 'normal day'!), but now having the support to go further, to give more (both time and money), and to be able to do something for example like, if someone in one of these towns asks me to stay and help with something for a few days, that I wont have to just run back home to get back to work, and I will be able to stay (and make a video, and have that be my only source of money!), and then never have to ask that anyone anywhere ever pay me for the work that I do (so on this note, a huge thanks to you, and a huge thanks to UA-cam, for giving me a chance at this opportunity!).

Hey Joel Hows it going? wow been watching your channel for a couple of days now, only discovered it yesterday, I been following Mark for a good couple of years and honestly I couldn't figure out if you were like his travelling companion/cameraman , but here you are with your own food channel and touring around, such a refreshing channel after everyone has had to pretty much stay home these last couple of months , I'm totally enjoying your energy, and love of the country side , what better way than to cycle, I find the little shops/ eateries tucked away the most exciting places and guarantee some pretty delicious looking food, well now that I have subscribed I cant wait to keep up with your newest adventures and check out your older ones as well so from New Zealand , God Bless and safe travels

Kelvin!! I am happy with the one comment and cracking up at the second part… I guess I am very fortunate to have both good genes for eating, and also the adventurous spirit to accompany those genes. In all my years of living in foreign countries, and in all of the years traveling, I’ve only been sick from food three times that I can think about. So it is very very rare, and neither of those were food poisoning, probably just way too much foreign bacteria, my body was not ready for it.
