I've played alot of d1 and actually really good and have a good understanding of d3 but I'm still learning with d2 and there's definitely alot more substance to it and it's almost impossible to find a friend to get back on the game anymore to help out and can be a bit overwhelming so thanks for these guides.

Question, when you say "It takes it out of the valid set / unique list because it has already dropped that game" at 39:37... The "game" in this scenario, does that mean the "game instance (this respawn of monsters)" or "game progression (this character)". Basicly, can two simular uniques drop on the same character, or do you need to create a new character if the unique is not a good roll? I'm assuming its the game instance, but just to clearify things. This was not entirely obvious to me as you explained it!

So, could you potentially change player count right before boss death like you do gear? Change from player 3 to player 7 right before boss death? even if you have to run back to town to do it. Would that work for increasing gear chances/amount?
I mean the combinations that you find on diadems/tiaras/coronets really are pretty unique. But things like amulets and stuff can have similarly awesome stuff
There are indeed reasons why Blizzard dislikes the fact that we can see the item-alvl and read the text files. It makes playing solo without buying the game easier, or eases setting up private servers. So Blizzard loses sales. This is why Diablo3 is online only. Nobody knows how the game is really compiled and constructed, and how the loot is generated. This is where d3 is very tricky: Nobody knows in details how they generate loot. But it is known that they adapt the loot to your class and build. D3 also bait you by dropping items that are slightly better than your current gear. I don't like it: It feels like Blizzard watch us playing control our behaviour, and give what they want. It's a way to control each individual. I personally think D2 loot system is near perfect, the MF progression, how items turn white grey green rare green then unique. I have one objection, I think Champions drop too many potions and too little gear.

MrLlama, till this point i was sure that the drops for bosses were quite different. yes, they had more picks, but rolling were different. not 'pick 1 - no drop, pick 2 - drop' etc but 'pick 1 - drop, pick 2- drop, pick 3- no drop, rolling stops, 2 items dropped'. someone told me an old info or it was never happening? digging more into this material i'm stunned! you say that minimal ilvl for Griffons is 88, but i remember sth like 10yrs ago people were saying that Pindle hell is the best way to farm for Griffon's... another time - it's info for some old patches or just scam?
riesabass A lot of old info is just hear-say. It’s like how people thought the cow level existed in diablo 1, or the chat gem on battlenet. That said there have been changes and bug fixes to the magic find formula and drop rates in the past, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case too.

I don't get how "magic damage reduced by x" or anything else (such as plain damage reduced by x or %) like that works. It doesn't seem like a very good stat for higher levels; reduced by 12, big deal, monsters are doing 100's. Please enlighten me, anyone.
It's not a great stat but monsters generally do smaller damage so it can actually help a lot overall! Also it is bugged and can be abused some in pvp and such
Information overall is good, but MrLlama your "Drop Process" is wrong". The game rolls between the possibilities written in "treasureclassex" for the monster, usually "NoDrop" "Gold" "Items" "Equip"(Gear), all of which have sub-categories within them. But once the game determines that you get Equipable Gear there is no roll for "NoDrop" anymore, you will get gear.

affects the monster hit I'm pretty sure. Doesn't have to be melee hit though...but I think it's on hit.... I need to check that haha

Diadem = TC 87 (Pindle can drop)
Griffon's Eye = qlvl 84 (Pindle mlvl = 86)

so you are telling me that it's the most work for the game to roll a low quality item? god damn code, just roll a unique, so we can both relax
it's not really more steps to the process, it just prioritizes rarer items in the quality roll so as you get higher odds it pushes out the junk odds.
