Last name is Dale and still can't find an exact origin I keep running into a translation of "one who lives in a valley" but I can't pin down a country of origin.
Dale is a place-name, similar to Hill. It's quite common, so your ancestors could have come from a number of counties such as Yorkshire e.g. the Yorkshire Dales. George

Hello Grimm Hamilton is a toponym,ic (place) surname, as you would probably guess. There is Hamilton in Lanarkshire; also many Hambledons in England, which it could be a corruption of. Would love to find the origin of the surname Thames. I know it probably was due to the river Thames. But, it had to start somewhere. And whether or not, it goes back to any nobility.
