Is already just past 50th anniversary of the time in later 1970 when they acted their parts, maybe that's why I watched it the other day, it was some kind of milestone ,: 0
I just showed this movie to my little brother a few weeks ago. We watched this one first and then the remake. And he liked both but afterwards he came to me and told me that he likes the original Willy Wonka movie way more than the remake. And that made me SO happy. The original Willy Wonka movie, and probably EVERY old movie in general, have some sort of magic to them that the movies that we get today don't really have anymore.
sliat1981 Julie Dawn Cole was very friendly I have heard Similarly her actress from the 2005 film (Julia Winter) was also quite cheeky and friendly (becoming close friends with AnnaSophia Robb)
that one effect - the "WONKA" letters lighting up in the night sky as Charlie looks in through the fence, longing for a better, more magical life . . . that ONE THING is more creative, memorable, well-designed and touching than every single effect in the Tim Burton version combined.
27:54 Perfectly sums up why the movie has lasted. It took until the 90s and 00s for the majority of studios to realise this with the likes of Pixar. Mel Stuart was way ahead of his time.
so the guy who played Mike Teavee went on to act, then school, then P.A. work, then 2nd Assistant Director, then worked at Disney,™ then opened a roller-blading business, then was a cameraman, then signed autographs as Mike Teavee, then did financial consulting. i wonder what he did next. maybe became a bungee-jumping instructor?

He just about made the film, his acting and his passion is great but what a lucky turn of events, everyone seemed to be on same page n had happy ending. I don't think happy elevator ending is a bad scene like Roald Dahl said, even though I guess he was just protecting his book, luckily we can have both. ,: 0
so THAT'S the reason it was named _Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory_ instead of _Charlie._ i assumed it had everything to do with cold capital, but i had no idea it had THAT much to do with it. the fact that the company decided to name their product a "Wonka Bar" meant that the movie itself had to be re-named. i always kind of thought it was because "Willy Wonka" was far more _theatrical_ than "Charlie." but no, it's because they wanted to sell candy bars that weren't even ultimately able to be sold. movies are corporate products intended to make a profit - i GET it. but that doesn't mean i have to LOVE it.
Did you actually watch the documentary? The whole movie was financed by the chocolate bar company as a promotion for the new Wonka Bar. That's why it was made on cheap film and wasn't planned to a T. In the end we got a legendary film that will stand for generations so who cares about the original intent?
Dahl originally wrote a faithful script, but screenwriter David Seltzer rewrote most of the script against Dahl's wishes which is one reason why Dahl hated the film adapation other than Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka over Spike Milligan and replacing Charlie's name with Wonka's
Pawn Almond Yeah but even then Dahl still considered Milligan before he was rejected for Wilder but whether Dahl hated it or not no one can beat Wilder as Wonka except for maybe Depp
one of the most magical films ever made
Next to the wizard of oz
Don't Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland.
The remake couldn’t hold a candle to this
sliat1981 only a cheap, dollar store lighter.....that breaks.
@@नमस्तेनमस्कार hell no
Yes you are right not a penny near to this adventurous memorable childhood treasure of ours.
@Freddie Krueger the og and the remake are both good

Incredible!!! When Gene said that's Willy Wonka at the end of this that gave me crazy goosebumps. What an awesome video
Tragically we have lost Violet...
Her actress recently passed away...
R.I.P
I was such in shock when i heard online she died.
She turned into blueberry n exploded? ,: 0
Violet is gone, but Nickerson lives on.
yes same as gene very sad
Hard to believe Veruca was such a sweet girl in real life
sliat1981 Julie Dawn Cole was very friendly I have heard

Gene Wilder was just magical, as was the whole movie. It was also so funny how Roy Kinnear works well with Gene.

Fact!
You r criticising Burton n I don't like [:] 0
@@Jiv_Ing57819 Tim Burton is overrated and that remake was a disaster
mike and jay sent me here. love you gene.

I'm hearing unreleased music and instrumentals of the songs...
R. I.P. Ol Gene Wilder
Wonderful! Can, someone of you, put subtitles in Portuguese, please? I need to watch this video and understand all of this... anything I thank.
RIP Gene Wilder your spirit still lives on
in our hearts

12:00 Now if you're watching this, you know that I-I love you now. But you were troublemaker then.
Anyone know where that footage at 17:28 of Bricusse and Newley might be available to watch?

Absolutely perfect film!
Gene wilder .... bro! Nice hair cut!
Haha I didn't expect Mel Stuart to be such a New Yorker.
the only willy wonka is gene wilder
What about Douglas Hodge or Alex Jennings in London’s West-End?
He just about made the film, his acting and his passion is great but what a lucky turn of events, everyone seemed to be on same page n had happy ending. I have (still do) the strangest crush on gene wilder as Willy wonka. Omg he's so cute .
What year was this documentary made?
2000-01
Gene Wlider looks really weak here

I wonder if David Seltzer had any horrible children in mind from this film when he wrote The Omen?
Shame gene is gone though ...

Ann MacLean ok
roald dahl hated the film
....
Ryan Symons It doesn’t stay true to the original novel
