You bring up some good points. I tint for a living up here in Wisconsin, we go through the same thing. Some people like to risk it and I do at least one a week. I usually recommend 50% and I have 50% on my cars as well.
I’m a HUGE advocate for window tint, as long it’s not stupid dark. I got my 2 front windows done at 18% to match the rear windows of my 2018 Silverado crew cab and 40% the whole wind shield. I think it’s the perfect set up. Looks great, and dark enough for all the privacy benefits but not enough to restrict visibility, day or night. Last time a cop messed with me was about ten years ago (knock on wood) when I was running 5% all the way around on my trailblazer I had at the time.
if your in NC, you can have a citation for window tint removed from your record, if you pull your tint off. not a dollar out of your pocket, and ticket dropped. just go to your towns sherrifs office and they will help you out

Here in France it's legal for bulletproof vehicle or if you have a medical reason to have 30% tint on the windshield and front side windows.... Any % for the back half (legal too for any vehicle for the back half). In Texas, you can have any tint except for the windshield if you have a tint waiver... These laws don't make any sense.
Keep us posted any trouble. When I got limo tint on one of my cars in past not 1 issue being pulled over had it for years and kept car cool in summer. Never windshield tint though. Let us know
Yeah I 100% agree with you on the tint, I don't think it should be illegal. I know some cops watch out for dark tint and pull people over to look for drugs and shit like that tho, which is fine, they should just do that instead of tickets lol
Got my shield done in 60% ceramic for the heat and a 5% brow, 20% over factory. It ALMOST doesn't look tinted because of the dark brow. Florida didn't really notice but I moved to Georgia and I'm getting looks now. Lol.
My advice is to only run %20 on the front sides and %35 on the windshield. Don't put tint on the factory tinted rears, those come factory tinted at %20 Its looks dark enough especially with a dark interior

My Ford ranger I had had two layers, one was leagal limit with 5 percent over that on the sides. Also was just pulled over for tint and the ticket was $143
There's a much more serious potentiality here. If you get in an accident and someone is hurt or killed, and there is any way at all that they claim your illegally-tinted, dark windows may have contributed to the accident, you could find yourself facing some very serious charges. It isn't particularly likely, but a prosecutor and jury aren't going to sympathize with your desire for dark windows.
Trucks incredible. But needs boost auto mirrors, clear running lights on mirrors with switchbacks for signals, smoked or clear lenses on mirror front running lights. Colour match mirror caps or even chrome on your truck.
I had a 4Runner with 20% over 20% (4% tint) on the front windows and 20% over the ~27% factory privacy glass (5% tint) on the rest. I did 45% windshield tint as well. It looked so good. I got pulled over one time in two years- young cop gave me a warning and let me go. I was riding in a bad part of the city and I think he was just checking out what I was doing, which was absolutely nothing. Wrecked the truck unfortunately. Now I only have 10% on the fronts, no windshield tint anymore- I think that really draws attention to it, but I see it EVERYWHERE in my city (major east coast metro). Bored county cops care. City cops have more important stuff to do. Your trucks look great man... screw the haters.
Not sure if it is like this everywhere but I believe that window tint law only pertains to the state you live in. So if you’re ever out of state with the truck, no one can get you for that. Now the windshield might be a different question but I’m not 100% positive on that
On Long Island you can't pass inspection with tint on your windshield and driver and passenger windows. Just ur back windows and rear window( pick ups and SUVs only) passenger cars are way more strict. They are very strict here with tint.

I understand the safety side of it but why is it okay for the police cars(non K9) to have dark tint?? If the officer feels threatened he can always have you step out of your vehicle. It's ridiculous!! I feel that there are more "CRIMES" they could worry about!

Most of us also have everything legal. It sucks to have law enforcement say what too dark is but it is what it is. AT THE END OF THE DAY legal tint isn't that bad.
In Taxafornia your back wheels wouldn't have made it out of the tint shop driveway and you would have gotten pulled over. Same deal, it's a violation in Taxafornia. Pay the fine and next week, get the same citation and pay it again. Courts got tired of people who know someone in law enforcement to sign the ticket off like you had them removed and pay I think a $15.00 total fee. Super wide tires I see that are popular nowadays that stick way out past the fenders. You're not going to run them in Southern Taxafornia, a huge violation. They want to see flares and mud flaps that cover anything that sticks out past the fenders. Then they made it where you had to physically take your vehicle in for whatever fix it violation you received to either a Los Angeles County Sheriffs station or California Highway Patrol office to have them come out and physically look at tinted windows removed or no front license plate re-installed, then sign the ticket off and go to court to show the vehicle was signed off by the local law enforcement officials.

I was riding the strip one of the nights, and a state trooper pulled me over and gave me a warning ticket for my headlights being “too bright”. He said they were “altered”. All they are is LED bulbs and factory housings 🤦🏼♂️

Go to the dmv get a tent paper thin go to your eye doctor let your doctor feel it out saying that the sunlight hurts your eyes then you can go black as you want i’m 5% all the way around I live in Virginia

I got a tint ticket last year. I payed it in online, and it was $195. Just be aware it’s gonna show up on your driving record, as obstruction through driver windshield.
I think you can trim the brow out without it hurting the glass (they use razor blades cutting the tint on the glass without scratching it) but you will have a hard time getting the glue off. It may not be too bad to get the glue off since the tint was done recently.
Hey man you need to stop trying to run from the law and work on outsmart them here in Texas the vehicle tint exception form is no longer in play as of January 1, 2019 the DPS is no longer reviewing the vehicle tint exception form however you will need to go to an ophthalmologist explain to them your situation and asked for a letter stating for a lower tint. Also the wording on this letter matters try to get them to put 5% because any season cop can still bullshit his way into giving you a ticket if it’s not on the letter! Or get them to use wording that lets you choose the best tint for your condition. Also if you get this letter in a reasonable amount of time any rational judge could drop the ticket ticket because it’s a medical necessity. However getting your front windshield tint is not.
There is many safety issues having that kind of tints. It’s not a state or city law it’s US Dot regulation. It’s true that some agencies don’t enforce the tint like a lot other laws, but they should in force it. Someone who I knew was runner over, tint was the accident factor. Be smart.

I think the tint looks dope AF!!! I live above Cincinnati, Ohio in a small town and have never had problems with the tint on my fiesta or the equinox I just traded in, but I've done the full front windshield. I have an appointment this week to go get my windows done and I was gonna get something really light like an 80% just to help with the glare at nigt as I do a lot of computer work and after work at night can be hell with ppl's bright light's these day's. I had a brow over my windshield tint. I cut along the bottom of the brow to remove the rest of the windshield tint. But ended up having to take the brow off aswell. I would just say if you want a brow then just go back and get one if you’re not going to keep it fully tinted
Don't ever let the clerk at the court tell you they don't have "fix it" tickets and you will have to pay the full fine even if you fix it. Go see the judge. He doesn't have to go by any set fines. Judge can do whatever he wants. I have seen several times people get tickets dismissed or suspended fines when they bring paperwork showing you paid to have the problem fixed. With a clean driving record and it not being a speeding or insurance ticket, 9 out of 10 judges will give you a break if you just ask for it.
I understand the windshield tint law. You can tint up to 6 inches from the top of the windshield. The side windows is by request of police so they can see in the car. These kind of laws are people allow laws. If it was for safety then police cars would have to conform to them, but they don't. As long as people allow these POLICE STATE laws then they are going to get worse.
Id get it done, pay for it up for it up front, pick it up after hours maybe. Makes sense for cops to hide out by tint shops lol. But since you are tinting your own stuff now maybe you'll be good. But doing a windshield will be tough! Binge watching all your ole Duramax vids today lol!

Great video. I have something similar not tint but exhaust. Municipalities in Ohio called mariemont small small (village) pulled me over many times when I crossed into their town. Super loud . Used to fly by cars and set off car alarms loved it.

not sure how much it cost you to get the whole windshield tinted but I got an 8" (really like 10") 5% brow on my truck for 35 bucks at a local shop. I live in mobile and when it comes to illegal mods to your vehicle, cops just don't care here. id keep the whole thing tinted if I were you but like I said, I pretty large brow for only $35 and yes it was at a reputable shop.
I get Tinting windows, but seriously why the windscreen, any police man could say its a safety hazard. its like having sunglass for your car. On the newer trucks the headlights are stupid bright but you have to upgrade you’re headlights on the older trucks just to get the visibility that you want.

You’re right about that. The Federal govt has no regulation on Windshield Tint. It varies state to state.
You can cut the tint against the glass, it won't scratch. I just got my truck done and the tint guys cut the film on the windows when they trim

Get ceramic tint for your windshield it blocks the heat and sun real good and doesn’t get cops attention 75% or 50%

First thing cops look for is what kind of rims you have. The illegal tint is pretty much a given when they see that.

Tint tickets in ND are 20 dollars, totally worth it but the dark windshield is a bad idea because it's absolutely hard as hell to see at night

Tint your cars there, then drive home at night, park the vehicle for a few days in the sun, and drive something else while it cures. That's what I do.

Welp I watched this video 2 months ago and inspire me to get my truck same tint as yours a month ago and then got 2 tickets for my side windows and also my front windshield last week, no hate tho it was fun with them on while it lasted

I think the tint looks dope AF!!! I live above Cincinnati, Ohio in a small town and have never had problems with the tint on my fiesta or the equinox I just traded in, but I've done the full front windshield.
I have an appointment this week to go get my windows done and I was gonna get something really light like an 80% just to help with the glare at nigt as I do a lot of computer work and after work at night can be hell with ppl's bright light's these day's.

I had a brow over my windshield tint. I cut along the bottom of the brow to remove the rest of the windshield tint. But ended up having to take the brow off aswell. I would just say if you want a brow then just go back and get one if you’re not going to keep it fully tinted

Don't ever let the clerk at the court tell you they don't have "fix it" tickets and you will have to pay the full fine even if you fix it. Go see the judge. He doesn't have to go by any set fines. Judge can do whatever he wants. I have seen several times people get tickets dismissed or suspended fines when they bring paperwork showing you paid to have the problem fixed. With a clean driving record and it not being a speeding or insurance ticket, 9 out of 10 judges will give you a break if you just ask for it.

I understand the windshield tint law. You can tint up to 6 inches from the top of the windshield. The side windows is by request of police so they can see in the car. These kind of laws are people allow laws. If it was for safety then police cars would have to conform to them, but they don't. As long as people allow these POLICE STATE laws then they are going to get worse.

Had 5% all the way around on my Ram since 2016. Drove through Germantown like an idiot and got popped. Luckily I got a warning. Haven't driven that thing through Gernantown since.🤣

Great video. I have something similar not tint but exhaust. Municipalities in Ohio called mariemont small small (village) pulled me over many times when I crossed into their town. Super loud . Used to fly by cars and set off car alarms loved it.

When I first move to Lewisburg Tennessee I got pulled over in got tickets for my tint my head lights my tail lights and for how tall my trucks is and for 37s I'm running on my truck

not sure how much it cost you to get the whole windshield tinted but I got an 8" (really like 10") 5% brow on my truck for 35 bucks at a local shop. I live in mobile and when it comes to illegal mods to your vehicle, cops just don't care here. id keep the whole thing tinted if I were you but like I said, I pretty large brow for only $35 and yes it was at a reputable shop.
I get Tinting windows, but seriously why the windscreen, any police man could say its a safety hazard. its like having sunglass for your car. Some people say at night you wouldn't be able to see. now enforcement of law... its the police chief who said oh enforce this or that. I just wanted to say where they are coming from. I didn’t think that was 35 but it looks good, I rather have 20 like I do right now but you got to have bright headlights with 20 but with 35 idk if you really need bright headlights.
My '16 Sierra is perfect with 30% and the OEM headlights. I can still see really well at night but the stock headlights on these trucks are stupid.
On the newer trucks the headlights are stupid bright but you have to upgrade you’re headlights on the older trucks just to get the visibility that you want.

Come to Delaware ...you go to DMV and get a window tint waiver...and never get pulled over anymore buddy..

I got 35 percent on my shield and my ticket was 297.50 for the windshield, but I was in the same situation there was no fixing it and getting it dropped. So I just payed it and left the tint on
