I predict Hurts will go high in the second round. His mechanics need work but given time to develop he could be a quality starter. Him going as high as I think he will, will surprise many analysts.
With Tua injured, I predict his stock rises after the combine to probably be a top 3 quarterback taken. Hurts from what I hear runs a sub 4.6 which makes him an NFL sized quarterback in the running mold of Russell Wilson. The Raiders aren't likely to pick him in the first round with David Carr. If he drops out of the first round then any team with an established quarterback will look very hard at their draft board.

Rushing yards are worth twice as much as passing yards because a 2000 yard rusher is the same as a 5000 yard passer. But if that's not enough Hurts has the second highest QB rating of all time just behind Burrow (202.3 to 203 - that's a 0.7 difference). He is 40 yards from being the all time leading QB rusher in college football. All of that while facing the 13th toughest schedule in the country (Clemson is 60th and Ohio State is 18th.) Burrow might win the golden arm award but not the Heisman because it is composed of quarter backs and running backs. Those running backs KNOW how hard it is to get that many yards and Hurts has done it while being the most efficient as a passer. Plus you have to realize he has quarterbacked a national championship team at one school and has now taken another team in a completely different conference to the CFB Playoff (while only being their ONE year.) No active QB in college football has a resume as impressive as Hurts. It's not even close!

Candidates in the Midwest will also draw votes which will limit access for votes in that region. In fact, I think it will come down to about 10% of marginal voters, some of which have not already decided.

Mel Kiper has Steeler picking him in the second round with their first draft pick. As a Steelers fan I really hope he get this right. Ben has maybe two solid years in him and that could honestly be 1 if he has a down year he is constantly contemplating retirement. So Jalen on the bench for one season could do him some good to learn from bens mistakes and most importantly watch him work. Because with Ben back I think the Steelers are a 8- 11 games won ball club so we would miss out on another batch of qbs again next year.
I like him as a college QB, and I’m glad he got to be a starter in the NCAA, but not sure how he will do in the pros. I don’t really want my Steelers drafting him. I have not given up on Rudolph quite yet ( I feel if he feels the pocket better and gets a bit faster on reads he will be good). I really don’t have much faith in Big 12 QBs. Even Rudolph, but there is always a chance to hone their skills to be elite.

The best situation for the Chargers, in my opinion, is to draft Andrew Thomas with the 6th pick, trade down (if possible) in the 2nd round, acquire extra picks, and draft Jalen Hurts. He has a 3rd round grade on him, but based on tape and everything else, he's a middle 1st round talent and fits Anthony Lynn's mold of QB to a T. He works his tail off and has a great personality, and is as humble as it gets. You being a Chargers fan should hope for this scenario. I think this way is much better than drafting Justin Herbert at 6 and reaching for an OT in the 2nd round, because unless Austin Jackson or Josh Jones is there when they pick in the 2nd, it's not worth the reach. I like him as a college QB, and I’m glad he got to be a starter in the NCAA, but not sure how he will do in the pros. I don’t really want my Steelers drafting him. I have not given up on Rudolph quite yet ( I feel if he feels the pocket better and gets a bit faster on reads he will be good). I really don’t have much faith in Big 12 QBs. Even Rudolph, but there is always a chance to hone their skills to be elite.

Since the Dolphins clearly don't trust Joe Burrow as the #1 pick they should draft other positions such as edge rusher and offensive lineman in the first round then pick up Hurts in the Second round. That way if he fails its not a big deal.

I would take him in the second round and then get a good O lineman in the first but I doubt it will happen The Bolts never drafted a Blk QB to be the starter smh more than likely they will get Hubbert I like The receiver from Peen State also when the last time we had more than one or more punt returns or kickoff returns in a season DT is a position we need also Mebane retired I believe we did draft a DT last year I don’t know who our other DT are.
@@johndavis6719 Chargers picked up Linval Joseph in place of Brandon Mebane, so nose tackle is not an immediate need, although 3 tech is a big question mark with Jerry Tillery and Justin Jones. The best situation for the Chargers, in my opinion, is to draft Andrew Thomas with the 6th pick, trade down (if possible) in the 2nd round, acquire extra picks, and draft Jalen Hurts. He has a 3rd round grade on him, but based on tape and everything else, he's a middle 1st round talent and fits Anthony Lynn's mold of QB to a T. He works his tail off and has a great personality, and is as humble as it gets. You being a Chargers fan should hope for this scenario. I think this way is much better than drafting Justin Herbert at 6 and reaching for an OT in the 2nd round, because unless Austin Jackson or Josh Jones is there when they pick in the 2nd, it's not worth the reach. Good luck, sir, I hope the Chargers make the right decision.
