This is a great introductory video! You explain everything here very well, and in a way that should be very helpful to those that are struggling with this One thing that's good to keep in mind that wasn't mentioned here, is that no matter what you do, the note played on the lowest instrument in an arrangement (the bass) will ALWAYS be the root note of the currently played chord (this is part of why guitarist have beef with bassists 😈) Just something I thought I'd add because it's important to at least know on a base (lol) level Anyways, fantastic video! PS: I love the edits lol
except for the few time you decide to play the 6th or 7th as a transition to a lower chord! it would make more sense to say the MAIN lowest note you play (ones that are not "decorative")

It's really hard to explain to people that when I make a melody, I just kind of "do it", and it works. So I tried talking about the technical stuff behind it. I did forget to mention in the video though, downloading a midi and studying it IS a really good way to study how certain music is made!
