So glad to see someone talking about the mysteries! I agree with most of your take here. During the first mystery, my crew went to all the locations seen in the mystery trailer, looking for clues in game, and followed what we thought was a clue (it wasn't) that coincidentally took us to Sea Dog's Rest, where DeMarco's body was. It felt like a great "on the trail" hunt. I wish this is how any future mystery would happen. Subtly change parts of the Sea of Thieves that people can piece together based on context. No mandatory out of game clues, though out of game hints can be included. When we were trying to solve one of the mysteries (the one where we get the spyglass with the X at the bottom), I realized the eye in the skull etched into the spyglass was the same shape was Lone Cove, so I rotated the map so lone Cove was scaled correctly in the eye, and saw the X was out in the water just south of the arch by Sanctuary, and dove down, hoping to find something. Nothing was there but THIS is the kind of clue/solution SoT should build into any future mystery. No cyphers and pop up websites online that keep us out of the game. Make every clue interesting and solvable (and subtle) in game.
The Twitter integration for mysteries made them dead on arrival for me personally, in-game mysteries is something I love.. But when you need to do stuff on twitter to move it or get clues it just kills my interest. (also didn't help that one of the mysterious rune tablets was in an impossible canonical location or time, ie right before the Gold Hoarder in Tribute Peak. Yes I definitely believe that Duke managed to go there before joining the Dark Brethren.. (sarcasm)
I like mysteries, but. If you're taking a break when those mysteries are going on, you're going to miss out. Which is sad because I missed out on a good chunk of them. After Burning myself out from Hourglass.
I just wish this game had story missions. Newer players like myself have no idea who anyone is or what events took place leading up to now. I mean the tall tales are *ok* but they dont elaborate on the main story or even expand on it.
I would recommend the Seabound Soul and Heart of Fire tall tales as they have the most relation to the current story… but yes I would have liked to see more tall tales to take the place of adventures
Rare realized no one liked the fact that mysteries were tied to like begging and retweet begging on Twitter so they axed them. Case closed! On to the next!
the defaced reapers sail from the hoarders hunt has to be the rarest thing I own in sot, it's still my go to sail. it's awesome
I use it all the time, looks amazing!
Agree. This was my favorite "prize" from the mysteries so far.
That is the mystery, where did they go?
Honestly? Yeah. 😂

They abandoned them like they did hg
Last time I checked HG was still in the game. We've even got more rewards for it few weeks ago.
HG is working just fine. There's little to no reason to touch it because it simply works. It doesn't need additions.
