      I don't think the US are even in the ball park with 5G yet but chips and Gs are different things - 5G is the fifth generation of communications - China is already experimenting with 6G and I'll be honest here, it's not my topic so I don't know what the UD and/or Japan are doing, whether is is a competitor of China's or couple cmpliment but wouldn't it be great if we could all work on this stuff together instead of competing all the time!

    Dear Mr. Tangen,
    This is the motto in America 🇺🇸 nowadays, regardless of whether it is in business settings or judiciary legalized settings ..IT IS: "THIS IS NOT HOW WE WORK..PERIOD.."..No wonders the USA'S government's leadership officials are having problems WORLDWIDES because everyone else's works on more reasonable and applicable methods than the USA'S government's leadership official's DICTATORSHIPS of "Their ways or the highways"..BTW, highways are the BEST WAYS to take when the freeways are congested at bottlenecks..PERIOD..

    Nice to have Einar Tangen in the show. Plenary sessions are where the China government has final discussions and decisions on its long-term planning --- the five-year plan and even preliminary planning as far as the year 2035. Furthermore, there is the issue of modernization and national rejuvenation. In terms of geopolitics, things are changing fast and sanctions being imposed upon suddenly, third or fourth plenary sessions are necessary to be held to make adjustments and amendments.

      Very true, sometimes there are just two, sometimes there are four but the third seems to be the one that makes the most impact in Western media, they write a lot about what China won't be doing and how this is just a nothing meeting - in fact, they write so much about it, it's hard to believe that this is not very important and they know it but want to play it down - otherwise, why write about it?

    I agreed with Mr. Tangen on China 🇨🇳 doesn't think things are black and white as 🐼 fur colors but rather like puzzles needed to be solved..This is also the characteristics of human behaviors..No one is EXACTLY ALIKE with one another even twins..However, whatever we do that MUST BE BASED ON PRINCIPLES OF MORALES OF FAIRNESS, ETHICAL CONDUCTS OF JUSTICES ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO ALL WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTIONS WHATSOEVER AND MOST IMPORTANTLY DO NOT DO TO OTHERS THAT WE DON'T WANT FOR OURSELVES AND OUR LOVED ONES AS OF THE NEXT GENERATIONS TO INHERITED OUR TRASHES..PERIOD..

  • @JianYZhong
    @JianYZhong 22 дні тому

    Thanks for the conversation, yes it would be nice to have you, Warick and Einar together!
    I would like to weigh in on the issue of the Chinese media. It may be true there is no equivalent of a "Grayzone" in the Chinese media, but does the Grayzone's admirable work affect US foreign policy? There has been many criticisms of US foreign policy and how the US military kills civilians, supports genocide in Gaza, instigate political instability even overthrowing foreign governments, imposes illegal economic sanctions that harm the lives of ordinary Venezuelans, Iranians, Cubans, etc. We know the US has a track record of lying, but the mainstream media still gives the US state department credence it does not deserve. All this independent dissenting voices in the West seems to make no difference!
    Whereas while the Chinese government does censor the Chinese social media, my sense is that the goal is to moderate public discussion, not to eliminate public criticism. We might argue whether this claim is true, but the fact is that there is plenty of public criticism in the Chinese social media, and I suspect the Chinese government genuinely values the social media's role as a gauge for how much public dissatisfaction exists, and (where criticism is legitimate) takes action to address the root causes of public dissatisfaction.
    It's true there is little criticism of government policy in the state media. But the state media does play a useful role of "reporting facts" and drawing public attention to important matters (like the Third Plenum). I suggest seeing the state media and Chinese social media as complementary. The state media provides the background in which public discussion on the social media takes place.
    The Chinese people trust their state media to report facts accurately, but are also aware that the state media does not report "the whole truth". Whereas people in the West (or at least most of them) seem blissfully unaware that their governments actively censor the social media (either outright or "soft censor"), while the mainstream media has become a channel for propaganda, becoming a "tool for power" (vs "speaking truth to power"). The Western mainstream media gives an appearance of speaking truth to power, but the real power (which the mainstream media is subservient to) is their capitalist overlords who own the media - e.g., Murdoch, the super-wealthy, ....
    Having said that, I think there could be more transparency in Chinese censorship. Censors (including social media platforms like Weibo, WeChat, etc) should give reasons for their decision to censor content (especially when reasons are requested). Individuals affected should have a legal right to ask for reasons, and also a right to appeal to a Media Tribunal to review censorship decisions. The Tribunal should give reasons if they uphold or over-rule a censorship decision. The Tribunal should also issue guidelines to content creators, so people have a better idea what kind of content will be protected from censorship, what will be censored, and what content lies in the grayzone. (Who wants to invest to create valuable content which ends up being censored!)
    The goal of the Media Tribunal should be to encourage reasoned public discussion, and discourage prejudicial content. In fact, I think this should be the goal all over the world. Yes, we want to defend people's right to express opinions that we disagree with, but people who want to express dissenting opinions should be able to defend their views and not appeal to prejudice. Dissent should be "reasoned dissent", not "prejudicial dissent". (In reality, all content will unavoidably have some amount of "prejudice"; we should aim for a high "reason-to-prejudice" ratio.)
    "Free speech" is not the same as "prejudical speech". The goal of "free speech" is to facilitate reasoned public discussion, not promote prejudice.

    I agreed with Mr Tangen that China is definitely a SAFE country to visit without the constant fear of having things stolen as in Thailand 🇹🇭 or in the USA..Although I was in China 🇨🇳 a few days, I could see how orderly and organized China 🇨🇳 government's systems must have been..If the same scenarios of having my passport stolen in China 🇨🇳 hotel as it did in Thailand, my bet of 💯 percent I wouldn't have any problems of having the local police enforcerments to cooperate and investigate to the ends to put the thief in jail or whoever was in my hotel rooms UNLIKE Thailand where it is a criminal haven that thieves are in collaboration with government's leadership officials and local law enforcement officials..Therefore, they had refused to investigate into my case's and the police reports were INCORRECTLY TRANSLATED; however, the USA embassy in Thailand wouldn't have any problems to accept the nonsense police reports L😂😅L..Period..

The real point is, even if it was the disaster they think it was, which we both know it wasn't, it was still the only disaster in the last 50 years - the countries where the critics live still have similar situations on a regular basis because they've learnt nothing from them

      Hi Kelly, thank you but as far as China is concerned, there really isn't much need for individuals to do so - there is a system in place called "Third Distribution" and that helps rich individuals and corporations to dispuse funds into much needed places and communities.
      My wife and I specifically raised funds for disabled people in Zhongshan and as a result we were able to help a few people with thngs like dance clubs, art clubs, some mobility assistance that they didn't already have but the truth is, the government does most of this anyway, they appreciate the help when we can add to it and it means they can channel much needed funds to other places.

    Whether an act of lying by omission is appropriate or not depends on its intention. If it is done so as prevent unnecessary arousal of unproportionally excessive public emotional/subjective controversies &/or collateral destructive problems for the community or country, this act is simply one of a beautiful lie of political correctness. In such circumstance, the government would prefer to be accused of lying (by omission) rather than to let the matter get unproportionally troublesome or damaging.

      True, I'd very much prefer to have no news about something than false news about it too. In most cases, where China does omit, it's usually in order to maintain harmony and/or to prevent copycats

    Jerry, I'm really confused by what you and Einar were referring to about Tiananmen Square . . . Are you saying China omitted facts about the PLA massacre of students in the square? I understand there was no massacre of students in the square, but rather that was a myth developed by Western media and Western establishment. Here are my notes and the source (although there are many other sources).
    Revolution and counterrevolution: Remembering Tiananmen 34 years later
    Amanda Yee,
    June 3, 2023
    But there was no such massacre in Tiananmen Square. By that time, most of the protesters had left the square, and the ones who remained left peacefully after negotiating with the army.
    A leaked diplomatic U.S. cable sent around that time confirms there was no such bloodshed in the square. “They [student protesters] were able to enter and leave the square several times and were not harassed by troops,” the cable reads. “Remaining with students by the Monument to the People’s Heroes until the final withdrawal, the diplomat said there were no mass shootings of students in the square or at the monument.” [Incidentally, Julian Assange’s Wikileaks reveals these cables too.]
    Other eyewitness accounts from on-the-ground journalists corroborate this. Richard Roth, Jay Matthews and Nicholas Kristoff report: -“nothing to even suggest, let alone prove, that a ‘massacre’ had recently occurred in that place;”
    -“no one died that night in Tiananmen Square. A few people may have been killed by random shooting on streets near the square, but all verified eyewitness accounts say that the students who remained in the square when troops arrived were allowed to leave peacefully;” and
    -“troops did not attack students clustered around the monument.”

    Jerry, there are some videos in the net about many abandonned new eV in China, that they are being "throw away". It's hard to believe though I can imagine certain cars so bad you couldn't give it away. Can youn tell us the truth behind these stories ?

    • @jerrystakeonchina799
      @jerrystakeonchina799  24 дні тому

      I believe they have already been debunked - it's a fact that some cars are abandoned but in the scope of things there are not many, the shells of cars, not the entire car have been scrapped and will probably,, given time be recycled - every country that makes cars has this issue - it might be an overcapcity but over capacity usually arises when the cars being made aren't sold - China can't make enough cars to keep up with demand, those that are in parking lots waiting to be scrapped are defunct models, not new cars - there isn't a car company in the world that doesn't ecperience this from time to time - better to follow some of the car vloggers about this because I know several people have already debunked this one

    • @jerrystakeonchina799
      @jerrystakeonchina799  24 дні тому

      No, I'd say you're right but it's a little deeper than just race, it's also a feeling of deep insecurity - the facrt that an Asian nation is rising is not new, Japan did so a couple of decades ago, the same phenomenon appeared then, it's race, plus insecurity, plus a modicum of fear because the US now knows it can't do to China what it did to Japan and they are very definitely in denial about their own demise

    I don't think I've ever seen Einar as relaxed & chatty as herein. Adding to the less than rigorous & combative style in Chinese journalism, could it be that they carry out this exercise of questioning & (self)examination at the development stage of policy, rather than form knee-jerk ones & squabble at leisure afterwards?
    An aside, I'm aware that you draw a UK police pension. I think you should also be entitled to the UK national state pension & it might pay you to enquire (you'll need your national insurance number). You don't need to respond to this as I respect your privacy on this personal matter.

That's been done on experimental trails in many places and been found to work but with 1.4 bill people, I suspect the logistics would be just too much to handle
