Yep, it is bizarre. Either this escaped Zen in playtesting and or they didn't forsee it. In my experience Thing gets way better at nailing that shot as the game progresses (learning from its misses) and as a result, you're way more likely to encounter this in later stages of the game. It has happened to me 5 times, all but one of those times being over a billion score when it happened. I have my doubts Zen have play testers good enough to expose the bug, and I'm not just basing that opinion on this experience. A number of bugs I have discovered in FX would never have been found unless you had managed to progress to a certain point in the game and I don't think they've got the chops to figure some of this stuff out themselves. I suspect they are missing said bugs during testing because their playtesters are average players at best, and in some cases probably don't know the Williams tables well enough to even know when they're looking at a bug
