Honestly if you look at statustics then most piracy rates are heavily exaggerated. Pirates who would've paid otherwise have never been a majority or even a substantial minority. Piracy alone will never make or break a release.
And for indie devs piracy often works as viable advertisement, as the visibility they get can get lead to more sales in the long run than short-term losses from piracy.
Its not stealing something in that sense, but its still immoral. Like not paying on public transport.

God I hate the phrase, "If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing", it literally never was theft.
If it was theft, then it would reflect in sales, but since piracy is tapping into a market of those that can't buy the game, then all piracy will do is make the game sell more.
This has literally been observed in multiple studies, even one by the UN, where piracy increased sales for both video games and music, (though in that one not movies but maybe don't spend so much on advertising lol).

learning from youtube is easier to understand than learning with a teacher at school
😊
Absolutely not. You are not learning anything new from this video. One teacher can change your entire way of thinking.
forreal
@@Perrito770 I learned about amogus
@@Perrito770 oh that is a funny website thanks!
@@Perrito770 Yes, I am going to say that Crystallization is a form of filtration process. If that's useful to you are always welcome
inaccuracy
pirates dont get caught often
and the law usuually is after the one distributing it not the ones downloading it
And the law doesn't always punish them unless they are selling it for money
In Poland only the distributing one commits a crime its legal to download
The laws only support the people than are rich, is not something of ethical matters, its about people than have power and do what they want.
Привет из России, тут пиратство - норма, даже некоторые чиновники выссказывались:"Не покупайте зарубежные цифровые интернет продукты, либо пиратьте, либо пользуйтесь нашим, ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННЫМ!"
What I rly love about my country - the government politicians actually tell ppl to pirate things which they cant buy for some reason.
That last line was perfection. More game companies should take note.
After 8 years of wondering how the piracy works, this video finally cleared that fog in my mind. Thank you for your simple yet very elaborate educational video!
The "Bad Guy" Is basically the AntiHero of gaming
sometimes the pirates generate revenue for the creator and publisher which otherwise would not have been made, its a form of free advertising.
I would download a car.
it would be dumb not to
Download more ram
You f1 king animal.
LETS GO!!!!!!
;D
The question is, what is the consequential differwnce between playing a game your friend bought and pirating? They seem the exact same
If you just borrow the game, it's nothing. If you copy the owned game, then it's considered piracy.
@@JRPGLOVER I know but what's the difference in terms of how it affects the devs?
I guess it only matters for multiplayer.
Pirating a copy to play online with your friend means two copies are required, vs playing at a friend's house means you're missing that feature.
Also, you should look up the new family share steam is rolling out
They are the same. The only difference is the company can't stop you from lending your physical copy to a friend.
the difference is, for the former developers received money while for the latter they don't
unless you meant: "someone's friend bought the game while said person pirated it", in which case i don't think there's any real difference
Someone is literally playing lobotomy level in GD
there is a world or maybe an alternate dimension where steam is actually the illegal platform selling games and the legit publisher is actually the pirate bay
You're better at explaining stuff than every teacher I ever had.
Amazing. I like the subtle things, like the Bad Guy paying Steam and the downloaders getting arrested. :D
Prison time is what happens when you dont read fine label of pirated products ("Do not go online")
