I absolutely loved Elena's publisher during the dinner scene. Enrico was there for Elena but -- instead of supporting her and letting the author and her publisher have their space -- Nino doesn't lift a finger to help out and tries to get his own essays published. Elena serves the food, cleans the table, feeds the kids etc. while in pain during a dinner that was meant for her. You could see how jealous Nino was when Enrico shut him down and focused his attention on Elena, trying to urge her to publish her novel. What a sad pathetic man! Also, is anyone surprised that he doesn't help with the kids and the house at all? Ugh.
I was surprised to learn how checked out he has become. It seems like he comes over sleeps with her and leaves The dinner scene was great because it really highlighted how little he cared about her work
I love that scene because it exhibits what a mediocre mind Nino has. The editor humored him, but his ideas were not ground breaking or interesting. Elena seemed to be embarrassed by his mediocrity. He stated the obvious and expected a book deal out of it.
I think that Lenu was in love with the romantized idea of Nino, maybe it was an obsession. The veil finally lifted, but it should have lifted a loooong time ago when he got that student pregnant and abandoned her. He showed her his real character a looong time ago when he got involved with Lila even tough she was married, Lenu just refused to believe what he was showing her!!
@@alwayswatching2295 I think she always knew what was going to be her destiny while being with Nino but her obsession just kept her going with it, like something that you don't choose and you have to go along with it.
It is so meaningful to see someone appreciating this incredible story. And the way you comment on what is seen and what is hidden between the lines deserves so muchhhh. Thank you for sharing your inspiring perspectives ❤
he was pretty good, but she loved someone else. she married mostly out good reasoning, but without actually loving him: he’ll help me in my career, he’s rich, from a good, powerful family. but, what’s less clear in the show, is that sexual encounters with him are physically painful for lenu. also, she was not paranoid, like everyone kept saying. she was seeing the signs, yet did not want to believe them. sometimes, you fall in love with an ass. that’s life.
Great review! As an Italian from Naples, I’m so glad this show is out in the world and accessible to everyone. It portrays the Naples of that era beautifully and features a well-crafted story with deeply developed characters. I’m especially pleased they switched to adult actors, as it adds even more credibility. I disliked Nino even more than before because the actor did such an excellent job portraying him-I couldn’t stand him, as if he were a real person! I can’t believe Elena allowed him to treat her that way; it made me so mad. I really hope she leaves him for good. Thanks for all the amazing reviews!
I felt like Lenu is finally seeing that Nino is dead weight. He’s not a great writer, he resents her success, he’s a liar, a coward, and he’s quite cruel.
As her servant, Silvana felt obliged to let Nino have sex with her. Otherwise she could lose her job. This kind of abuse was very common in the old days and, I believe, still happens nowadays. That’s why the scene was so shocking for Elena (and for us), because it showed Nino not only as a philanderer, but as an abuser, taking advantage of women less powerful than him. Just like his father.
Thank you for these recaps! I appreciate your perspective. Tonight’s episode was chock full: mom”s death, mom’s funeral, Lenu finally promising to write a book, and of course Nino’s sociopathic behavior. I hope their relationship is over - over!
Wonderful recap! The direction is impeccable; so much happens and it's all riveting. The Ninos of the world are destroyers and yes, he's just like his father. At the funeral, there was a glimpse of the widow, Nino's father seduced and abandoned many years earlier. It was wonderful to incorporate all the "old timers", the parents that we saw in the first few seasons. You really get the sense of the passage of time. You're so right about Lila's father; he's an older version of the resentful and harsh man of his younger days when he threw his daughter out of a window while Lila's mother is still the submissive wife who ignores her husband's cruel remarks. Thank you again.
Thank you for this comment 💕! I did love seeing everyone together . Some people never change or just get better at hiding who they are Nino and his father are the same and in some ways Nino learned a lot from watching him use and abandon women. She always saw Nino as a victim and never a perpetrator. Like someone who couldn’t help but behave the way that he does but he’s a wolf in wolfs clothing
Found this video after watching the episode and needed to vent out my frustration after watching it! So happy to encounter your channel, your reflections are so interesting and charming! ♥️
Your analysis is really magnificent. Absolutely flawless...in the study of the characters, even the writer-protagonist. I am from Italy, but remember what Sophia Loren said to Barbara Walters: "I am not Italian, I am Neapolitan". That is, she means that Neapolitans are so peculiar that they consider themselves different than us (the rest of Italians). They are incredibly peculiar. Even if a Neapolitan has a satisfying love life, they are sad because it's unhappiness that makes them thrive. Lila explains it as if she were unique in the "earthquake episode". No...she is not unique. It's the Neapolitan soul, especially of women.
I was not surprised Nino was doing the maid. There’s an old saying …..a man just needs a place and woman just needs a reason to cheat…….Oh Nino! I think she’s gonna snap and tell Nino she was with his father lol
Nino is worse than his father. As for Elena it took seeing this man in the act for to finally see who he is. The fact that she would think that Nino would would not go for older , gray hair woman shows she was still fight to believe what she saw.
Thank you again for your review/recap! As always, I come straight here after I watch the episode and what a doozy, let's get into it: When Lila walks into Lenu's apartment, didn't you think it was portentous? My first thought was, GF is nine+ months, you got no one else to babysit? This is a set up, we're gonna have problems. We're seeing more of Elena's neighbor (that actress is getting paid though, so maybe she's got connections??), but no, Lila makes it to the hospital. And yes, for those of us who watch Call the Midwife, childbirth is not always "natural", I wanted to slap that doctor as much as Elena did, unpleasant indeed! Moving on: the car ride with Alfonso + Lenu. Did they get the same director as Lenu + her mom in the other car ride episode, it had the same confessional vibe, it was done so well. And the deathbed scene with Immacolata with her sons: that was priceless! Do NOT underestimate your dying mother on her deathbed to whip your sorry a**, am I right? When she threw whatever was nearest to hand when her son talked back, IJBOL, c'mon, give that lady her Emmy! And then we get a 180 with the real deathbed scene + the incredible funeral scene with the neighborhood throwbacks (hello, are you all still alive to give death stares and ominous curses or what??). Lila looked very noir in her sunglasses. We jump ahead to the dinner scene, with Nino pretentiously holding court and the guests all but rolling their eyes, especially the gentleman who you can see is only there to court Elena for a new book. Elena comes to bed and not only lies down furthest from Nino at the edge of the bed but gives him what for - things are looking up. But the next day, yes, Elena tells this new person in their household (with the time jump, we can assume she's been there for awhile to "help out") this/that/and the other while she drops off the girls and runs errands. Lenu muses on her thoughts from the previous evening that may be her new reality and options on what her new book may become. Oh, diapers! She rushes home. Now, with the way this was shot, we knew Nino was going to be caught in flagrante delicto. But with Sylvana? That was not the partner I envisaged. That made me think that Nino was not just vain or self-centered, but a s*x addict and had been one since he was quite young. Anyone in his sight was fair game, like his father. The seduction was not just seduction - that's why Lenu's physical memory that she had repressed for so long about Nino's father r*ping her; it was not seduction, it was r*pe. I'm not sure how she'll cope, there's so much for her to deal with. Elena is now divorced with three children to raise, she has a looming deadline, her lover is exposed as a fraud but she can't decide to let go just yet. Even with Lila telling her the obvious, the obvious is in her face, obvious obvious obvious, how can we help Lenu? How?? That should be the title of the next episode (Obvious.)
Thank you for this comment and always coming back to me. I thought Lila reaction was hilarious she was like ….. not raggady nino again The scene with Elena mother telling her sons off was brilliant. She’s dying but not dead 😂😂. She’s amazing . Now the Nino issue . I think he is an addict. As you said anyone in his proximity is fair game. I never imagined he would go for sylvana. Because Elena has it in her head that he only goes for beautiful women we as an audience assume he has a type. But he seems to have a type for the public and behind closed doors anything is possible. I thought the fact that she repressed that memory for so long was telling. She never really wanted to accept she was assaulted . It made me think what else Nino has done. Something I’ve noticed about Nino is he never leaves anyone. Even with Lila he circled back to her. I think his biggest regret with her is not getting her pregnant
@@alwayswatching2295 oh Your last sentence! I read the books and I remember how he will act in the future and maybe you are right! Never thought of that😅
I cried when her mom died & jaw dropped when she caught Nino although when she dropped off the girls and headed home all I could think is he's a pig I bet he's sleeping with the babysitter. He's actually predictable to anyone with an outside perspective. #ick
I was also very emotional when her mother passed . They shot it so beautifully Nino really surprised me . Who knows how long he had been sleeping with her and if she didn’t see it she never would’ve believed it
I found what the Dr. said about Lila and her delivery very interesting. Even though Lila really wanted this child, she couldn't connect to her. It's telling of Lila's relationships. Personal view, every child birth is different.
Nino hates Elena shes just a stepping stone, a home , a cheerleader for his ego and he tricked her into thinking that what they had was real . Lilia's secret was worse then what i thought and confirmed that Elena was not tripping completely but she kept deluding herself into thinking Lila would go for it . He is driving this woman insane!!! This episode shocked me and i hope some Emmys get awarded finally to the cast .
Nino resents her so much and I think he enjoys cutting woman down a size. Nino is a sleeze and he’s gotten away with so much . He has a lot of enemies and his past will catch up to him
he doesn’t hate her. he loves her and uses her, like all his female “friends.” he’s so afraid of his own incapacities, that he thinks he might aquire some capacities from the women he’s with by osmosis. but that doesn’t actuall happen, so, at some point in his life, before he went for lenu in florence, he realized, women can be used. and that they may offer sthg, not through osmosis, but through influence. he’s power and approval hungry.
I was almost grateful that she finally knows the truth. I am sure many women, including myself, have experienced this type of experience. It’s sad because she has 3 children and has no resources and now has to pull herself up. And plus her Mother dying it’s a tough time for her. She has to start over again. As long as she faces it and doesn’t go back to him, she’ll be ok. Nino really is a rat. He had his chance with Lila , season 2 I think, and he was not good to her when he had her. He is just a player and basically jealous of both Lila and Lenu. He is not a talent like Lenu and not half us smart as Lila. He was really a bore at the dinner with the publisher.
I thoroughly support this review, especially your concise characterization of Nino as 'Trash.' Nino's actions have consistently been deplorable. His wife and their children likely suffer significantly due to his behavior. Interestingly, Nino may treat Lenù's oldest daughters more favorably than the children he shares with his wife. Lenù's mother's passing was heartbreaking, and it underscored my appreciation for my mother and the challenges of coping with loss. Lenù's emotional struggle was palpable. And yes, Anna Rita Vitolo's performance merits Emmy recognition. ❤️
Thank you autumn 💕💕 you’re one of my OG subscribers . Nino is trash. I think you’re right about Nino being found of Dede he has a great connection with her children. I didn’t mention it but listening to them argue again I think is taking its toll on Dede. The actress is phenomenal. She deserves all the awards . The show premieres in Italy Nov 11 so hopefully she gets a lot of love there.
My husband and I both thought Nino was paying a lot of attention to the publisher's wife and she would be his next conquest. Lenu losing her love for Nino made me so happy! Finally, this show has some hope! I even thought differently about my own male losses from 40 years ago - I can let those guys go and not mourn over them any more - yay! I hope that Lenu's jealousy of Lila is also over too. Yes, what Lila's father said to Lenu was only designed to take her down a few pegs. But it may be part of the behavior in the neighborhood, which is to knock people who think their feces smell like gardenias.
I love the last line of this comment. I think time has played a huge part in Elena slowly detaching for Nino. I think she hasn’t gotten the result out of being with him. She’s is more stagnant then when she was with pietro so it’s getting harder to justify this relationship
Elena would've never seen his true nature and would've continued to delude herself, so her catching him in the act was the only way for her to finally wake up... and even after that she's like "hm I need to go talk to him, Idk how to live w out him." Ugh. also the dinner scene, you could tell how Jealous he was bc they were more interested in Elena's book than his dumbass essays. I need something very bad to happen to him, that man needs to get what he deserves omg
lol Nino and his essays 😂😂😂 if she didn’t see it she would never have believed it . She either knows how bad he is or has tricked her mind into believing he’s not nearly as bad as everyone says he is. Her shock was the most shocking part of this episode
the husband was interested in lenu, the wife….let’s just say nino makes female friends everywhere. it’s his modus vivendi, how he works up the power pole, by using women, whom he finds more interesting and better than their powerful husbands. just like he did with lenu. side easter egg: the gynecologist? also nino’s friend.
Nino is so jealous of Elena's talent and success that he punished her on purpose by deliberately taking advantage of the old maid. He knew he'd get caught. He wanted to be cruel.
@@alwayswatching2295 The part about connections is very true. Elena herself notices that all of Ninos relationships are about some social/ego advantage. He stays with his wife not for her, but for Eleonoras father, with Galiani s daughter in youth for Galiani social circle for example. The reason she is stil obsessed about Lila and Nino is not about corruption( in the book) is about the fact that Elena finds no social/ego advantage in Nino being with Lila. In Elenas mind Lila is the only exception Nino ever made from his - help me be/ look big- rule. The one woman he wanted for herself and for whom he was ready to throw his own life under the bus for a while. Part of Elenas frustration with Nino not giving anything up is because she compares this with what he did with Lila when they ran together. But of course Nino stayed with Lila in limbo for just 3 weeks. It was his one chance to choose something other than status and being different from his father and he did not make it. This is all Elenas point of view, but in this one instance she seems accurate. Silviana was all about being praised/ seen as superior in contrast with Elenas recent justified complaints from what I can remember
According to stoism, nobody does anything to anybody. It is something only to do with you. You either let the others abuse you or not. We cannot blame Nino about what he does to Elana because expecting the opposite would mean expecting an apple tree to give us watermelon😂😂😂 if elena hadnt been so weak, he wouldnt be so 'strong'. So, girls, dont put yourself in such vulnerable situations, otherwise, tears will never end.
Very well Said! Nino never even forced her or even tries to persuade her with any real effort She knows she’s got this addiction to him and shes deflecting her actions onto Nino
It seems to me that Nino's only desire in life is clout and public power, he wants to be adored, he is addicted to it... his obsession with Lila seems to derive from that, he wants her approval, because she relentlessly rejects him... even his "love" for her is about him and his image. Also, I feel like he has a wavering sense of self, and he is constantly using women to stabilize it This vapid, pulverized self. He takes from them, like a Jenga game, always threatening to crumble. He is always looking to be someone and he seems to resent basically everyone, specially the men (like Pietro and the Editor) that are more than him. He seems to go for their women out of spite but also to be them, even if it's for a night. What Adele says about him a few episodes before is entirely true. He could've been brilliant, but he is too insecure and superficial for that...
Well said! Nino is not secure and constantly seeks to destabilize others to give himself some worth. He has no personality or authenticity. He just cares about looking important
I read the books and I was waiting for her this episode so badly. Her mother's beating seemed small compared to the slap life gave her with that scene with Nino and Silvana. And she sooooo deserved it! 👏👏 Elena was such horrible to the people who had told her all along she was making a mistake with Nino, people who had actually helped her so much her entire life and proved she could trust them with their actions, including her own mom, her mother-in-law, her husband, and even Lila. She was shameless for going to live with a married man, bringing shame to her entire family. She was a terrible mother, always putting herself and Nino above her daughters. She deserved seeing that disgusting scene in the bathroom for being the most horrible person in the book. Nino had shown her who he was a loooong time ago ago, everyone warned her, but she never listened.
Elena was always better than Nino and had the wrong idea that Lila was stupid and then wanted her back. Lila is the most clever of all, she managed to see Nino's real face and she tried to tell that to Lenu, who resisted and had to find out by herself in the most painful way.
This episode shows a stage of life that sooner or later comes to everyone who outlives their parents. I think what makes it even nore tragic is not only the fact that she dies, is the regrets Lenu is left with and the fact that she really is alone and has no one apart from Lila. I never felt Lenu to be too close to her family. Is she in the books? Her mother was the only one she was tied to almost against her will. The death of the mother is something of an end in itself for anyone but for a woman it somehow hits different in the same way the death of the father hits a man. This movie shows very well how much tragedy unfolds in life when people make their already tragic stories even more tragic by making one stupid decision after another. It is a very complex painting of human life not just of the main characters. It is very very heartbreaking. As a mum of 2 litlle children, I think there is nothing worst in a situation of being cheated on than having no one to go to with children who are so helpless. To have no safe place to go. To have no way of getting some sort of retribution for the humiliation and pain you feel. Is it really better nowadays or was it hundreds of years ago when if a man did something like this not only the men from the family would punich him but he would be considered an outcast! It just seams to me in the distant past men had so muvh more to loose when they were behaving like animals. Anyway... I became super annoyed at how different the situation is for her that she cheated and left her hisband and how dofferent it is for Nino....😢
Thank you for this comment. Even in the books Elena is not close to her family. Outside of her mother I’ve never seen her have any meaningful interactions with her brothers or sister. I think how something starts is how it ends. She cheated on her husband and now her boyfriend cheated on her. With very little remorse
@@alwayswatching2295 Yes that is so true! I see this around me and always things go downhill. People confuse infatuation, obsession, compulsion even , with love. They confuse desire with real needs. This is so painfully chaotic as it shows the real mess families and relationships are in. Always thought somehow this lack of conection to Elena's family showed her imaturity and lack of real sentiments towards anyone but Nino on hand and Lila on the other. It's only now that their friendiship finally blooms in to what it could have been.
When I read the novels some years back I was frustrated with Elena through most of book four, however after watching this adaptation I can see that this relationship was a penance of sorts her. She stayed far too long, and on some level probably felt that she deserved Nino's disrespect and manipulation.
Compared to previous episode Elena when she was unraveling before our eyes, this episode feels like an emotional growth spurt where she faces the reality of the people she idolizes. Through Elena's eyes Nino is a master at smoke and mirrors. She falls again and again under his spell, muting whatever people try to get through to her about him. I loved how the illusion of him had to be shattered so brutally in order to finally open her eyes.
Agreed , she can’t pretend he’s not a monster . She tried even at the end to give him the benefit of the doubt but she couldn’t. She as immediately taken back to her own assault which suggests she’s always known deep down he was a sicko
@@alwayswatching2295 you know how predators "smell" out victims as if they have a 6th sense for who is going to tolerate their antics? I felt like Elena was exactly that - a walking target for an abusive partner. Antonio, Franco and Pietro were so far from the type of men she knew to be shaped in the neighbourhood. Nino always felt otherworldly and she let him roam freely in her life not being aware that her guard was down in front of her most terrible enemy.
Yes predators like Nino know exactly how to break the right person down. He manages to always find a weak spot and weasel his way in. He is married to a woman that I’m sure is obsessed with him. Although her family may hate him they can’t say no Nino is so good at breaking people down and getting them to do what he wants them to do
Elena wasn’t playing down the difficulties of giving birth. Women are different. Some have it easier than others. Even two childbirths by the same mother can be different. Childbirth is painful indeed, but depending on the case the pain can be bearable or unbearable.
You know, after this episode, the previous one where Nino said to Immacolata it was a beautiful name suddenly seems much darker than expected... 😰 Also, poor little Alfonso had me in tears... 😢
This episode was simply masterful. The direction, the acting, the cinematography, everything was a work of art. I lost my mother six years ago and yes, nothing prepares you for it. You may get used to the thought, but the enormity of your mother’s death will always loom over the rest of your life like a dark cloud.
It was masterful. I felt Elena pain. She will never stop grieving her mother . I’m happy she set her mother’s heart at ease and my favorite moment is when her mother told her she always finds a way out in her own way. She may not love her decisions but she respects her daughter
I wasn't shocked because the man Nino is, was as a carbon copy of his father. Also culturally this is something many men did/do and it was expected of women to look the other way but a man should be somewhat discreet as possible to still maintain the family man image. Nino didn't do this at all. Lila knew she had to prove her friendship, keep Lenu close and to wait for Lenu to ask. Lila told her 2 times already, don't leave you husband for Nino and then she told her again the truth of him being with his wife even once Lenu moved to Naples. Elena did not listen, some people need to have that stuff rubbed in their face to get it. For all of Elena's intelligence she was wilfully blind. Willfully ignoring all the problems her choices would make for her kids and her life. With Pietro she maybe wouldn't have had an exciting life but she'd be emotionally safe and her daughters wouldn't endure the upheaval and embarrassment. I'm just waiting for her daughters to grow up and let her have it. Elena is a deeply selfish woman and mother and in many ways deserves Nino, after all she stepped into a relationship knowing he was married.
Thank you for your insights! I think Nino is the archtype of compulsive seducer who is just feeding off the feelings he gets back from the women that he seduces. It s not only about the chase, it s also about the fact that those women that he seduces give him a feeling that he is on top of the world. Maybe a man could understand this better but I for the life of me just feel disgusted to the core. If you think about it, for the women it s conpletely different than it is for him: he has this superficial charm and women think"oh I must be so special since this winderful guy is into me" and then you realise...no...he is not....
mannnnn alexa play Get out by jojo haha. I am not going to lie...I did not see that coming. Like I knew Nino was up to no good but I thought just as a bad father and not taking care of the kids, and maybe trying to get back with Lila. But damn...the babysitter. Wild episode. I'm still processing everything. But what I still don't understand is why does the neighborhood hate Nino (or the Sarrotore's) as a whole. I mean its the 50s, patriarchy full throttle - most of the men in that time are off with other women. Why is Nino singled out by the town which is being run by criminals?
I think the issue with Nino is he acts above everyone. He think he’s so cultured and intelligent when he’s no different then everyone else in this neighbourhood They know he’s scum but hate the way he acts like he’s not. Also given his behavior he probably is a criminal . We don’t know what he’s done outside of Elena so maybe they know things we don’t. Nino has no red lines.
@@alwayswatching2295 as complicated and muddled Italian patriarchy is and was, no man leaving a trail of illegitimate babies will ever be considered a prize or a great man. Men hate Nino because he plays into their insecurities, their fears and taboos. Women tend to be charmed by him because he masquerades as an ally when all he ever was a wolf in sheep's clothing
Great point. He has a way of seducing woman that’s unbelievable. He acts like he cares and makes women feel so special . He then immediately dumps them I think as you said it’s how open he is about it. Everyone knows . He has no shame. What’s worse is he is embarrassing not only his by his family
@@YorkIDn in the book, he takes out dede elsa and imma, he weaves his spell over dede and elsa with his usual tricks(the same ones he uses on grown women, actually, same charm, same jokes, same selfassuredness while making the woman feel really important),leaves them to take care of imma in the stroller, while he focuses on ladies he meets on these walks. he just cannot stop, as franco said, “scopare l’altre donne.” every woman is an opportunity. also, the fact that they left the baby without it’s lower part covered while they were also uncovered felt more than just neglectful, it felt horribly disgusting. somehow, the baby’s state of undress was mirroring their own state of undress. awful.
I am at home in bed with Covid, feeling lousy watching this, and yes, that scene is absolutely nauseating! I could not understand how or why Elena stood there watching for so long, it was so disturbing. But maybe she finally has it burned into her mind what a disgusting creep he is. And if that doesn’t do it, Lila’s conversation with her surely must do it.
She knows that Lila thought that he was Nino's. But in the books he described as looking a lot like Stephano. So he isn't Nino's, and both Lenu and Lila know it.
in the book, he was also pleasuring her during the deed. i don’t think it was abuse. but you never know with the likes of nino. his father did it, why not him?

The woman who played Lenus Mom needs every award. Amazing. I wish the same, wish this was more popular. This is Emmy worthy
Hopefully when it comes out it Italy next month she will get more love
It seems like he comes over sleeps with her and leaves
The dinner scene was great because it really highlighted how little he cared about her work
Nino: "Help with who? What? I live alone here."
@@alwayswatching2295 So much for the guy who scolded Pietro for not reading Lenu's work and not helping around the house.

I was shocked. Seriously, the babysitter. What a disgusting pig. Elena really had an amazing husband & she just cheated on him with a pig.
Nino is more of a pig then I imagined
he was pretty good, but she loved someone else. she married mostly out good reasoning, but without actually loving him: he’ll help me in my career, he’s rich, from a good, powerful family. but, what’s less clear in the show, is that sexual encounters with him are physically painful for lenu. also, she was not paranoid, like everyone kept saying. she was seeing the signs, yet did not want to believe them. sometimes, you fall in love with an ass. that’s life.
Let's not offend pigs.

He’s a charlatan . He is so good at looking good.
Now she finally see what everyone else sees
The way that she connected Nino to his father who SA’d her
As her servant, Silvana felt obliged to let Nino have sex with her.
It’s crazy because Nino is so much worse than we know .
Nino commits sexual assault. Silvana has no voice. He is his father again committing sexual assault against the young Elena.
Thank you for these recaps! I appreciate your perspective. Tonight’s episode was chock full: mom”s death, mom’s funeral, Lenu finally promising to write a book, and of course Nino’s sociopathic behavior. I hope their relationship is over - over!
Thank you for watching! Tonight’s episode was jam packed and I think the way she found out about Nino was telling. She wasn’t even mad just shocked.
Some people never change or just get better at hiding who they are
Nino and his father are the same and in some ways Nino learned a lot from watching him use and abandon women.
Thank you Arianna for watching !
Thank you 🙏🏾 🤩🤩
I was not surprised Nino was doing the maid. There’s an old saying …..a man just needs a place and woman just needs a reason to cheat…….Oh Nino! I think she’s gonna snap and tell Nino she was with his father lol
Elena told Nino about how his father took advantage of her.
Lmao after my show i come to her review aswell 😊
Thank you for this comment and always coming back to me.
I thought Lila reaction was hilarious she was like ….. not raggady nino again
The scene with Elena mother telling her sons off was brilliant.
Thank you 🙏🏾
@@alwayswatching2295 oh Your last sentence!
They shot it so beautifully
Nino really surprised me .
He has a lot of enemies and his past will catch up to him
he doesn’t hate her. he loves her and uses her, like all his female “friends.” he’s so afraid of his own incapacities, that he thinks he might aquire some capacities from the women he’s with by osmosis. but that doesn’t actuall happen, so, at some point in his life, before he went for lenu in florence, he realized, women can be used. and that they may offer sthg, not through osmosis, but through influence. he’s power and approval hungry.
lila s the only one who had some sort of backbone with him so she s the only one he think is a bitch
When she was driving with the baby on her lap I could barely watch.
That’s was tough , I felt her shock
Same 🫣
I was almost grateful that she finally knows the truth.
Thankfully she knows the truth. Every woman he is with he treats badly.
I think her passion from was dying even before she caught him in the act
@@alwayswatching2295 Thank you! And thank you for all the thought you put into these recaps!
@boston_octopus_442 thank you for watching !
Interesting ! I think he downplays how successfully she is and uses her to make connections he otherwise wouldn’t have had
Great point ! Lila is the only women he actually liked .
Absolutely speechless and traumatized !!!
I still don’t know what I watched
According to stoism, nobody does anything to anybody. It is something only to do with you. You either let the others abuse you or not. We cannot blame Nino about what he does to Elana because expecting the opposite would mean expecting an apple tree to give us watermelon😂😂😂 if elena hadnt been so weak, he wouldnt be so 'strong'. So, girls, dont put yourself in such vulnerable situations, otherwise, tears will never end.
Very well Said! Nino never even forced her or even tries to persuade her with any real effort
She knows she’s got this addiction to him and shes deflecting her actions onto Nino
It seems to me that Nino's only desire in life is clout and public power, he wants to be adored, he is addicted to it... his obsession with Lila seems to derive from that, he wants her approval, because she relentlessly rejects him... even his "love" for her is about him and his image.
Also, I feel like he has a wavering sense of self, and he is constantly using women to stabilize it
This vapid, pulverized self.
Also, the actor playing Nino is doing a stellar job! Every time I see his face I get angry
Well said! Nino is not secure and constantly seeks to destabilize others to give himself some worth.
He has no personality or authenticity. He just cares about looking important
@cydhvib he is amazing !
Great review. Look forward to your analysis every week. Thank you.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏾
I read the books and I was waiting for her this episode so badly. Her mother's beating seemed small compared to the slap life gave her with that scene with Nino and Silvana. And she sooooo deserved it! 👏👏
Elena was such horrible to the people who had told her all along she was making a mistake with Nino, people who had actually helped her so much her entire life and proved she could trust them with their actions, including her own mom, her mother-in-law, her husband, and even Lila.
I was yelling with Lila at that slow woman: there is a child alone in the appartment! Move, move!
Omg same😂😂 like that lady was useless in the last episode when she didn’t wake her husband up to drive her to the hospital
Although her family may hate him they can’t say no
Nino is so good at breaking people down and getting them to do what he wants them to do
Hi Hamza, the volume on this is very low- had to turn up to 100 and still kind of low- just FYI- going to watch the rest of it now.
Thank you for telling me Riva. I don’t think I checked the volume beforehand but I will for the next video
Also, poor little Alfonso had me in tears... 😢
I know he was doing alright considering he does nothing but this episode he turned the tables
I wonder if this is the straw that broke Lenu's back.....we'll see
Volume?????
Nino is so disgusting…such a narcissist 😮
Nino is literally the worst and when you think he can’t get worse he gets worse 😂
Elena is a deeply selfish woman and mother and in many ways deserves Nino, after all she stepped into a relationship knowing he was married.
your summery is Brilliant
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great episode. Nino is truly a scumbag.
Exactly be gets high off their admiration for him. At a surface level e is very charming but underneath it he has no values
mannnnn alexa play Get out by jojo haha.
He think he’s so cultured and intelligent when he’s no different then everyone else in this neighbourhood
They know he’s scum but hate the way he acts like he’s not.
He then immediately dumps them
I think as you said it’s how open he is about it. Everyone knows . He has no shame. What’s worse is he is embarrassing not only his by his family
I literally threw up after watching that scene and came here to get a little distracted from what I had just seen 😣
It was so shocking . She didn’t know what to do besides stare . She wasn’t even angry which I thought was telling just shocked
Also, If he is the same or even worse than his father, Lenu should think about the risk of him being around Dede and Elsa even for imma 😭
He hated his dad for stuff like that and ended up just like him!!
Potentially even worse then him
@@alwayswatching2295He is absolutely worse than his father, has children with 3 women, one of whom he completely ignores. Disgusting narcissist.

This better be the end of Nino! I'm so sick of this character and they are dragging his storyline. I don't know why we needed 6 episodes with him.
Like so much is gonna happen next, but we have 4 episodes for all that😢
@@onedagger5142 Right! Why did they waste so much time on this? They could have gotten there way faster.

I'm so sick of Nino...enough already.....its all about him!
Question: does Lenú know that Lila and Nico had a baby together?
Is her older son ninos?
She knows that Lila thought that he was Nino's. But in the books he described as looking a lot like Stephano. So he isn't Nino's, and both Lenu and Lila know it.
I think Nino is the father of Lila’s daughter.
That definitely crossed my mind!
What about Nino having sex with Silvana. It did not look consensual.
Yes I was thinking that but I wasn’t sure. The whole scene came as a shock
in the book, he was also pleasuring her during the deed. i don’t think it was abuse. but you never know with the likes of nino. his father did it, why not him?
Nino is the worst
Girrrrllllll... 😲😲😩😩😩
I hate Nino
Great review! As an Italian from Naples, I’m so glad this show is out in the world and accessible to everyone. It portrays the Naples of that era beautifully and features a well-crafted story with deeply developed characters. I’m especially pleased they switched to adult actors, as it adds even more credibility. I disliked Nino even more than before because the actor did such an excellent job portraying him-I couldn’t stand him, as if he were a real person! I can’t believe Elena allowed him to treat her that way; it made me so mad. I really hope she leaves him for good. Thanks for all the amazing reviews!
Thank you Veronica ! I wish this show had more viewers. I think Nino was a skilled predator . He knows exactly how to get the most out of people. Even tho Elena knew she refused to accept it .
