Marathon watching 1/28/25 Thanks Matt Cozzi and Sam Olbur. This is always good. 😌 Go Cubs Go! Pressly is what the Cubs needed. Get more Cubbies. 😊❤
Thanks for the show guys
Sam; chillin on the indica 😜🌿
Sam definitely did a secret interview with Belli just now.
Kevin Gregg blew three saves in April, but then went on a run of 26 out of 28 including 19 straight. He was very good for three months
Sam I had the same exact reaction to Kevin Gregg. I only remember blown save after blown save with him. But apparently he didn't blow as many as I think . 56 total saves and only 12 blown saves during his Cubs tenure in 09 and 13. But I still hated seeing him come in the game to pitch
thanks Matt Cozzi and Sam Olbur
Feel like people r forgetting just a couple years ago Alexander Canario hit 40 bombs he’s still young and hasn’t really gotten a chance on the major league level, it woulda been awesome to see him get the dh spot this year or caisee
I would like to see what Canario can do with regular playing time. You would think that Jed would want to know what he got in Canario and Killian after all he traded Kris Bryant for them.
Caissie will be traded soon. He's not that good
@ ya your right 48 extra base hits, .850 ops and a 280 average he’s a top 100 prospect for a reason
@@randylewis8628850 ops isn’t good enough for you is it?
@@randylewis8628...not what I've heard! But he is only 22, and everyone is in agreement that another year in triple A ball is needed to get his strike outs down to a respectable number! But i doubt seriously Tucker will resign with the Cubs and i am ok with that, because we have Caissie in Iowa getting ready for the call-up!!!
I feel the same way about '98 "Shooter" Rod Beck. He had a great year in 1998, but all I remember was chugging Pepto waiting for him to blown every opportunity. 😂
Sams reaction to kevin gregg had me in tears 😂
Great show fellas. Go Cubs!
Nice job, guys...good show...Kevin Gregg...wow...totally forgot about him.
I was screaming Kevin Gregg 😂
Sam’s trivia disappointment 😂😂😂😂
That reaction to Kevin Gregg by Sam 🤣🤣
In all seriousness, he pitched with the Cubs before 2013 in 2009, and was not outstanding that year, so that might be what you remember about him Sam.
Sam's reactions are hilarious 😂
It feels like Gregg and Marmol blew saves everyday
First comment and like GO CUBS!
You just had to win the day
I credit Jed’s efforts on the bullpen and hope they work out. He’s certainly trying to avoid past sins. I’m pretty okay with who they already have but if they add a Robertson to take the eighth and be a backup closer, I’m good with that too.
2nd LFG sam how you feeling man hope you feel better stomach bugs suck
Kevin Gregg was so unremarkable. Im sure he blew those 5 saves very close to one another.
If Matt is MJ, Sam is Rodman?
Sam is Kerr the consistent production always there when you need him.
@mr.cub_DBSWANSON7 great answer or jed Buscler
No, Sam is Scottie Pippen.
@@Passionately44 ok thank you for sharing
Matt=MJ, Sam=Scottie
That's true about the firstbase
Sam is right, first base is incredibly hard. Anything worth doing is.
It makes more sense to upgrade the rotation.
Padres are a bit desperate to reduce payroll. King makes sense in a deal. He should get 8 M in arb.
My thought is Wicks and Assad sent over. Pads are needing rotation depth and payroll relief. They also need a SS. Velequez for the most part is going no where on the Cubs.
3 for 1 deal. Cubs get back to 40 and get a legit #2 starter. Rea becomes a tweener. Brown, Little and Pearson become high leverage. Hodge and Pressley the 8-9.
That puts them at 216M. I would sign Turner for 8M to back up 3B and 1B. That gives some pop off of the bench
Just sign Robertson as a set man ,he already pitched for the Cubs and you know what you're getting, he's still a good pitcher.
Almora got signed with the Marlins
Kevin gregg was mitch wild thing williams in 200ps and beyond
I guessed Kevin Gregg also.
Guys what’s the thoughts of Alcantara playing first base. He’s 6’6 and right handed so the platform for him playing in the majors maybe only comes this way if he’s behind Caissie in the depth chart.
Kevin Gregg was a feverish dejavu. I’m surprised we all didn’t think about him during our lost soul Death Valley Neris Experience.
BP is improved with additions made by Jed. Yes, this dude has an ERA higher than Yates (1.17). And there will be games that Hodge closes anyway. Now they can work on the bench. I heard he was guaranteed the closer role and that's why he waived his no trade but then put it back in as he does not want to move again in six months to another city. Like don't trade me to the Yankees in July if we are ten games out kind of thing. As to Busch, I don't think there needs to be a conversation as to can he hit lefties. Most of the first baseman in the league are right-handed and most of the pitchers are too. We never talk about sitting Goldy or Alonso on the bench because today's starter is right-handed.
Go cubs
Ian Happ can play first also. Did it when Rizzo was dealing with the back so same situation as the outfield. Happ can slot to first and Suzuki back to the outfield and bring up ballesteros to dh
Stanek Estevaz, finnegan, Robertson, king, flaherty, Bergman are all still cubs targets.
Trade for Dylan Cease is the best bang for the buck. Solid rotation.
Other than Colin Rae, there isn't another Brewer Reject in the Bull Pen?? Why ??
What's going on no podcast for 2 days during the week
Forget about pitchers-- pitching is covered. Cubs still need more slug. I don't see a lot of players in the batting order who can bash the ball and clear the bases to change the momentum of a game. They're still relying on guys overperforming their projections offensively. How did that work for them last season, especially May and June when the season was pretty much lost? They really need another power hitter. To go into the season with the current hitting lineup is baseball malpractice.
Love how Matt’s trivia just ruined Sam. Friggin Gregg. #imoldgregg
It just seems like the staff is getting older, not better. Surprised at Pressly's average velocity. As Boog, who slipped up at one game and actually told the truth, ' nobody throws hard'. Houston was going for it so traded for Hader. Hard to say the Cubs are trying to win now with a lot of the same type of pitcher; better years behind them, average velocity, worrisome WHIP's.
Pete Alonso.
If they pick up someone else where do Brown and Little fit?
What about starting pitching? Don't we need one more better guy? I don't trust Assad and am nervous about Boyd.
Im here to comment anything below. 4
Canha or Turner
I have been telling everyone I know that they need a rightie 1B.
They have berti he can play everywhere but catcher
Is Mike Tauchman still a thing? I thought he was pretty solid for the cubs in limited time last year… would he fill in over Suzuki when the other guys are resting?
He got traded to white sox
He signed with the White Sox
@@austin6272not traded, he signed as a FA…wanted to stay in Chicago
@ my fault
Hey guys, the show was still good and all but please feel free to take a day off if you are feeling this bad. I swear it looked like Matt was going to lose it when he may have just been trying to suppress a belch with his hand. Good content but Matt looked a bit like death at times during this episode. Sam looked much more normal, and no Sam that is not an insult you just looked healthier than poor Matt. Good job making Matt laugh when you were in disbelief about Sam when you remembered Kevin Gregg was the last reliever in the list of 30+ saves in 2013. Take it easy guys.
he said he was sick with the flu, cut the guy a break 😂 sheesh
I think this is a w they give up nothing and at a discount
Rea will be the fifth starter…not a reliever!!
Pressly>Robertson
Not based on stats at least lol
yea no Gregg wasnt even that bad actually. Nasty curveball. I mean he wasnt greeaaat......I liked him cuz he was like me in that his eyes were bad so he had to use touch signs with the catcher and it made me feel less embarrassed to have to do the same thing in high school.
Bring back Robertson
No thanks on Stanek. If you want a reliever hitting 100, why not Palencia? Kap today says the cubs payroll including Pressly is at 189m. Why is your number different? Trade for Cease and sign Robertson.
206 million is where the Tax cap is different then payroll.
its because Palencia was horrendous.. thats why
Stanek = Palecia, and Palencia would be $2m cheaper. But I don’t want either..
@@KevinKucera-p8f lol, sure. nice take there, kiddo
Cease is a top 10 NL starter. Hard to imagine what the Cubs could offer to a team probably looking to win now. Robertson is 40.
Amaya can play first.
cubs shouldve grabbed Jake Burger
Cubs sux.. Ricketts already took the wind outta this season's sails and Jed is a poor man's Theo.
Why am I not hearing bringing back Rizzo on a 2-3 year retirement deal and he can be the backup 1B and DH. I also think adding him to help with stress would be good, like what Boston did by adding Kevin Millar.
You’re not hearing it because for one we don’t need a LH backup 1B for our starting LH 1B, secondly have you seen Rizzo play the last couple of years…putrid. The Cubs don’t need to waste a roster spot on a washed up “feel good” old timer.
Rizzo has a year left in his playing days. We need production not warm fuzzy feelings
question is; why WOULD you be hearing about bringing rizzo back? 😂 he hasnt been very good.. not to mention he is as injury prone as my 88 year old osteoporosis-riddled granma
Didn't you get your flu vaccine this year?
David Robertson is better than Stanek
Just kicking the tires, Ian Happ was drafted as an infielder, why not try him out on first against lefties since he's a switch hitter?
Because, deservedly or not, he’s the reigning last 3 years GG LFer
@@ajquinones965 because he has multiple gold gloves in Left.. and then you create another question; who fills in for him if that were to happen? 🤷🏻♂️ no sense in taking one problem and turning it into two
@citylimit33 yes that's a great point. We have extra outfielders that are arriving their shot at a big league roster spot and they may not be Ian Happ in LF but if they can be above average it may be worth trying it out if Michael Busch takes a step backwards at the plate this year. I hope that he takes a step forward and it solves this whole thing.
