Los Angeles. 1983. A storm is coming and its name is cocaine. Snowfall is a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it.
The story follows numerous characters on a violent collision course, including: Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), young street entrepreneur on a quest for power; Gustavo Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a Mexican wrestler caught up in a power struggle within a crime family; Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative running from a dark past who begins an off-book operation to fund the Nicaraguan Contras; and Lucia Villanueva (Emily Rios), the self-possessed daughter of a Mexican crime lord.
Snowfall is created by John Singleton & Eric Amadio and Dave Andron and Executive Produced by Singleton, Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Amadio, Michael London and Trevor Engelson. Andron will serve as showrunner

jacobcook7 no, more like "let's plant this drug in black neighborhoods and tell them that it will make them feel better about the plight that we have caused (gentrification, unemployment, poor education system, unfair and unequal opportunity, etc), get them addicted, AND THEN make it an illegal substance and enforce a war on drugs (high mandatory prison sentences) to promote free labor in our private prison systems.

Showtime's loss, FX's gain, and now Snowfall is the most hardcore R-rated show on _Basic_ cable.
Cuz Showtime doesn't have the nerve to run this show knowing that the CIA funded the crack era with cruel intentions.

Giovanni G - for this one it was Justin black's mesosphere. used his songs and run dmc a lot. for most of the episodes you will hear a lot great songs from the eights , go figure. Blended and mixed in with some new age stuff as well.
I refused to watch this show when it aired Iwas in jail and everybody else crowded around the T. V. every week to watch it. It just seemed like a typical show. Now 6 years later and 24 mins into episode one, as with so many other shows, I see so much of myself in Franklin. Aside from being intelligent, respectful and charismatic, he is fueled by freedom as am I. I want to be free from it all.

I SHOULD have known it was racist people calling the shots when they had a black police officer eat fried chicken while driving , and then they ended the show with either having black people have nothing to something mediocre, I'm very disappointed and thank God for streaming I fast forwarded the last episode of the final season most of it and that that point what the mother had to say ment nothing to me because I knew despite the fun watching this

Just started this show. I will say this tho, watched a lot of great shows, this is the only show that kicked into high gear from episode 1 and doesn’t leave you hanging. Excited for the journey, looks promising.

its a great, entertaining show. the thing i don’t like is how CIA is portrayed much more innocent than it actually is - they gave audience just a finger rather than the whole hand about how things really were.

"Snowfall" Precedes a time when I felt Pride as a People. The Black Power Movement and Civil Rights placed fear in the Mainstream, as a result the government began to plant drugs in the inner cities bringing about the so called War on Drugs. It is a painful reminder of us falling and failing as a community. When kids began to raise kids because mom had an addiction. It pains me to look back and see when we as a people began to fall for the Hype. I can't celebrate poverty or the grips of drug addiction.

The only educational thing I found was learned was how drug sellers buy, produce, and ship out drugs and earn money through a “market”. Other than that, it’s just entertainment.

I'm very disappointed that a brilliant series would allow such a glaring logical error. When Franklin's house is broken into, the viewer is really supposed to believe that his vault is secured with three small padlocks. This is so ridiculous.

I just found out about this show today. I had no idea they had a show based on the Crack Era. I remember that era well, seeing the people I grew up with falling victim to the drugs, (a painfull time). Can't wait to watch this show.
At the perfect time imo the show comes to a end next week you can enjoy the full ride of it
I also just recently found it, but the crack era was already covered by The Wire...at least from a Baltimore perspective, which was much more gritty than the sunny LA scene.

Something's amiss. Dialogues, some of the acting (mostly good though), credibility of the story... Saint doesn't get it right, we don't see Michael becoming The Godfather, step by step. That's why this series is never gonna be a new Breaking Bad.
