    dont know why u wanted to get rid of the clamshells, but glad u did. i dont buy anything (as much as i can) that is packaged in one-time plastic. we have way to much in our landfills already. it takes forever!!! for it to go away. glad u made the change.

      Agreed! That was def one of the reasons I gave them up! Cost and space were the other reasons, but it just felt so wasteful! Thanks for watchin!!😃

    You are a breath of fresh air hon! I love the bar molds and they come out so easily for you! I am still using the clamshells ( I have a case of them) and I too have thought about ditching them but they do make things nice and simple to stack. I am sure I will drag my toes til I join the bandwagon. lol Thanks for the video..always a treat when I see a new one of yours in my feed! Cheers..Michele

      Oh thank you Michele! You are so sweet!🥰 - I do miss the ease of the clamshells a bit. Storing them is a lot harder now, I have to be carful not to stack them so the smells don't transfer too much. Other than that, I am happy with the change, but that really is keeping me from loving the change. I still haven't figured out how to store them...oh well, I'll Scarlett it again and worry about it tomorrow LOL

    I've been doing the snap bars for 5 years, but I also do teddy bears in tins. I buy the gummy bear molds, pop them out and put so many ounces in a 8 ounce screw top lid. To be honest, snap bars are getting old with consumers. My teddy bear tins sell double my snap bars. Just a thought for you. People want the next great thing and teddy bear wax melts are it. You know women love cute!!!
    Jill
    I think I'd put your wax melts in little zip lock bags to keep them in. It'll keep the fragrance sealed in rather than the glassine bags. Just a thought and they are resealable! They have them at Paper Mart and Uline for sure!

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Jill! I actually thought about the teddy bears! there is a company that does that - Happy Wax, they sell for 15 bucks for 3.6 oz 😵 - that seems crazy high to me. But they are so darn cute!! But the pouring of those tiny molds kinda held me back - do you have trouble filling them?
      thanks for the tip on the zip lock bags! I will look into them! 🥰 - I went through so many sample bags from Clear Bags (it's great that they send you one to try) but none of them worked for the clamshells, they did work for the snap bars though.

      Hi Shannon, I personally use ProBlend 650 from The Flaming Candle www.theflamingcandle.com/candle-wax/paraffin-soy-blend/problend-650-para-soy-votive-and-tart-wax/
      This is a paraffin soy blend. I tried the 100% soy but could not get a good hot throw with it. Plus it is usually much softer so doesn't come out of the warmer cleanly.
      Hope that helps!🤗

    Yay for no more plastic clamshells! Do you think you'll eventually move to glassine bags for the candy bar wax melts? Or do they not make them in that size?
    So, question, because I want to try making wax melts myself. What wax would you recommend using? You mentioned before that there's so much on that subject that it's overwhelming, and I trust you to steer me right. Thanks!

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Andi!! I haven't found glassine bags that fit the snap bars but I did end up finding biodegradable bags from Clear Bags that fit, I will move to using those when I run out of the Amazon ones.
      Wax...I like ProBlend 650 from Flaming Candle, but I have started adding 10% more paraffin wax to it - it just doesn't come out of the melters cleanly if I don't. I add the IGI 4625. Gook Luck with that! Let me know how it goes!💖💖

    That looks great! I'm surprised you can smell it through the shrink wrap. Did you get the shrink wrap from Amazon as well? What size bags did you use from Amazon? I was going to get some from your link but wasn't sure the size as they have several listed. Much like you, I've been DYING to get rid of the clamshells for a while now. We offer all our melts in molds sold in bags but nothing sells more than just the standard clamshell! So we want to offer that shape/size without having to deal with all the plastic! Thanks for your video!

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Рік тому

      Hi! I use the national shrink wrap systems shrink wrap that is biodegradable and smell through, it hinders the scent a bit but you can still smell through it. I also have started cutting a slit between one of the rows of cubes on my tester that helps, I just usually have to tell people about it. Honestly my sales have dropped since I stopped using the clamshells, but I have better signage for this year so I'm hoping that will help. I'm not sure people at shows knew what they are unless they come into the booth. I'll let you all know how that goes!

    How long do you leave them in the molds,and what is the best way to clean them afterwards?

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Рік тому

      Hi Steven, I leave them in there for several hours, but it probably wouldn't take that long. Cleaning is a hard one LOL - I usually just try to get all the wax out of the corners before I hand wash them. Sometimes a light heat gun helps but usually I just take a skewer to them. Hope that helps!

    I’m new to melts. How do you figure out how much wax you need?

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  2 місяці тому

      honestly there are ways to add water to the mold and do calculations and yeah - not for me. I just can't be bothered with all that LOL
      I just wing it. After that first pour I can adjust up or down on how many molds I have left to fill or how much wax still in my pot. Most of the time I under-shoot my guess so I don't have wax left. It is easier to adjust for the next batch by - this 10 oz of wax filled 4 molds - so for 5 mold I will need 12.5 oz.
      did that make any sense 😂

There are tons of teachers on UA-cam that talk just as much as you do, and their audience is happy with that. I watch an acrylic artist who often only spends 5 mins of her time instructing and the rest of the 25 mins chatting. But I love her personality so much, and I grab a coffee to just sit and sip while she chats...best part of my day. Cater to who you are and UA-cam will bring you people that want to see it.
