      Because they can't build anything of value and are lazy. No business in Bengal. What to do after MSc ? Do PhD. That's why. No other reason. This community will be the next Biharis in making. Worst of all.

    What is chances of getting a assistant professor job in any govt. College after getting PhD from IITs ?
    I have seen some people still Jobless after IIT PhD

      Because of intense competition you may need to do a postdoc unless you are in a very hot area of research or are extraordinary in terms or CV and references. These videos may help

      UPSC is a good option only for a few people. Most people will spend their life preparing for the civil service. Very few will get. Only the coaching institutes will profit

      @@Drganguli UPSC is just one exam. There are others as well like SSC, IBPS, Railways, etc.

      True but these people just want jobs to assure them a normal middle class life, PhD is more suitable for upper middle class people with established parents who now want to do something more with their life

      @@Drganguli in India that role is done by IT jobs or by tier 1 B school MBA degrees.

      @ But the government jobs you mentioned are also hard to get. There are huge number of applicants and quotas based on backgrounds of the applicants. There is little contribution from the person even if they get the jobs. India is in danger of getting into a middle income trap unless it focusses more on research and PhD and less on clerical and administrative jobs
