I've lived in several different continents throughout my life as I grew up as a military kid. I was lucky enough to live in Seoul from 2014-2017. In my opinion, there is no city in the world that compares to Seoul. What I love the most about it is that it feels like it was engineered to be the perfect city, you get all the great benefits of living in a giant metropolis without a lot of the downsides. Crime is almost non existent, subway rides literally cost like 2 bucks each time you ride it, even the cabs are subsidized by the government so you can get a 15-20 min cab ride for like 10 bucks. I think more urban planners should look to Seoul as a hallmark example of how to build a giant city.
I definitely agree with you! And it is really comfortably to live there since it has literally everything! I think the only down side is that is is super expensive, too many people which can make you feel suffocating and the prices for Appartements are to high for the quality you get! And the fine dust...but other than that it is super beautiful!
@@roselamoure Yea expenses are not easy living in seoul, however relatively speaking they're much better than a lot of other big cities. If you move to NYC, you could be paying more than seoul easily, but you're getting a city thats polluted, chaotic, and crime-filled instead of the utopia that is seoul.
Korean culture is the best in the world, a culture of politeness and respect. People stand in line for the subway or bus, no pushing or anything like that. They respect their elders greatly, don`t dare ever sit on a seat intended for older or disabled people, you will pi$$ people off. Look how clean the streets are, no rubbish on the pavement, no vandalism, no graffiti either. Been to The Republic of Korea a few times, I totally love it. I lived there even before you, from 1996 to 1999 working for LG ELECTRONICS. Looking at seoul now, it doesn't look like the same city. Compared to where I live now, in Kansas City, it looks like it's on another planet. I haven't traveled to Asia for several years now (been to HK, Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Bangkok, Macau, Beijing, Taoyuan City, Manila and of course all over korea), but it looks like time for me to go!
I also miss Korea. I was born in Sunchon, but I got adopted and I have lived basically my whole life in Sweden. And watching your videos makes me want to go back to my beloved Korea. I was back in Korea for the first time ever in 2018. I have saved money for a second trip back. I really hope Corona gets excited soon so I can come back. 😔
The average Americans in a crowd- all of them will be overweight and have an unsteady unhealthy gait when they walk. Most of them arent used to walking and dont walk enough and are very unhealthy because of this....I look at a lot of walking around videos, and Japanese crowds and South Korean Crowds are good looking and healthy. No such crowds exist like that in America.....

Though both cities are very clean and well ordered (and great places to visit), the Japanese capital has become old and dour, while Seoul is young and vibrant, despite the fact that just 35 miles to the north, there are 10,000 artillery batteries aimed at the heart of the city.
@@delmont2793 Yes, but in a sense, Tokyo is older because Tokyo developed into modern Tokyo around the 1970s, while Seoul developed into modern Seoul around the 1990s. I guess that Seoul is more youthful and younger, while Tokyo's youth flare has died down a little.
intreiic yeah its true... If Tokyo has taken its peak and is getting worn out little by little, it seems that Seoul still has the power to rise higher. Tokyo was really one of the best cities of the time in the 1990s. Today's Tokyo has something analogous, but Seoul has a strong digital feel.

If you can get a plane ticket on the off months, travel is much more affordable. Would avoid summer months since it's hot and humid and tickets are more expensive. Hotels are affordable compared to the US and Europe, imo. Good luck!

I’m only Bosnian in this amazing and as well very exotic country. Gangnam is exclusive part of Seoul so it’s mean is not cheap but for sure you will enjoy in Honestly hospitality 2020.02.21.

I think its linguistic adventure to study Korean for a westerner. They are so different. But Im not sure how some Fins pick up Korean very easily.

@@delmont2793 Yes, but in a sense, Tokyo is older because Tokyo developed into modern Tokyo around the 1970s, while Seoul developed into modern Seoul around the 1990s. I guess that Seoul is more youthful and younger, while Tokyo's youth flare has died down a little.
intreiic yeah its true... If Tokyo has taken its peak and is getting worn out little by little, it seems that Seoul still has the power to rise higher.
Tokyo was really one of the best cities of the time in the 1990s.
Today's Tokyo has something analogous, but Seoul has a strong digital feel.

I miss being an exchange student in Korea. I used to live near Gangnam and got to walk these streets every day... hopefully I can go back someday

If you can get a plane ticket on the off months, travel is much more affordable. Would avoid summer months since it's hot and humid and tickets are more expensive. Hotels are affordable compared to the US and Europe, imo. Good luck!

I've been there 5 months ago I would say that the street is so clean you will not see any trash. And also the ambiance of the city is very good. Even their public toilets it's very clean. Hoping to visit again from Philippines 🇵🇭

I am an American and I was born and raised in America, I am not from South Korea or anywhere around there. I didn't even know that Gangnam existed until a few days ago. So I am now seeing it for the first time.
