  • In today's lesson we will focus on one of the most important things in cello playing, which is bow distribution! Without having that bowing technique, it will make things difficult, specially if you want to create beautiful, musical lines. The Study that I am using in today's lesson, comes from the book "Feuillard: Studies of the Young Cellist", Study No. 43, which is a Study for Arpeggios.

Hi, I recently discovered your channel and I think your tutorials are amazing. Your channel provides such valuable content for cellists of all levels. I recently picked up the cello seriously again after 10 years and your Feuillard videos are what I wished I had back then. I stopped playing previously because I hit a roadblock trying to play more advanced pieces well, and now I am rebuilding my foundation and technique with your videos. I typically watch 1-2 of your videos everyday before I practice. THANK YOU!

AWESOME video..........the bow distribution of 2 beats down then 1 beat up is always the most difficult for a cellist. GREAT TIPS!!!!!

@@IliaLaporevcellist Added to my list for bow distribution. Came up in Lee 40 etudes (op.70), Feuillard will help me! Also for Lee etude 33, legato string crossing, I adapted Feuillard 36 to practise bow balance. Still hitting adjacent strings, especially at 4th and higher thumb positions. Thank you for valuable tips!

What if you play the bow on the neck (reseach for composing?

Just tried it. I don’t think there will be benefit for the composer as there is no sound coming out of it.
