My first impression is absolutely positive. Was walking around Akua, found a scientist camp, through computer there found a storage bunker, got there, got indigestion somehow by eating a plant proteine, starved to death.
Was more careful after reloading. Built a motorcycle. Stuck trying to build the first base.
So far it feels better than no man's sky, and I freaking love that game.
Eating raw food can give you problems, gotta be careful of that. Plant protein can be processed by your suit's little on-board constructor into food bars. There are a couple of plants that can help you with indigestion if you do come down with it.

@@snarkdragon thanks. Figuring this game's mechanics one by one by trial and error. Found zero written guides (only youtibe videos), tutorial is lagging for some reason and not really helping, interface is horrible. Built my first small base - and it was unnecessarily difficult compared to no man's sky.
But yeah, I guess I'm having fun. Otherwise wouldn't play
Lot of people watching Starfield videos are excited about flying inside planet atmospheres, in space and landing wherever u want in multiple planets.
I’m like Empyrion has been doing all of that for a long time. Such an underrated game.
I’m excited your doing this series again. I want to see this series last long enough that you can build some of the bigger capital ships and explore other planets. I’d be okay if you skip over a lot of story line reading and just do the missions. Great video!!!!

Definitely should do reforged Eden adds so much more makes the game so much more enjoyable extra missions extra weapons extra everything
I think RE would be too much for a Kage LP. He wont make even make it out of the starter system in vanilla before "the view are too low"
@@honeybadger781 The thing with Empyrion is most of the community is on RE and don't have interest in the vanilla for the most part. And as of the last two patches RE has given focus on a more co-op or server like elements to tackle the end game. Also his timing to start new series is a bit off, since there is new patch incoming with new tutorial which would be interesting to show as an youtuber.
@@Killzad Your probably right. I heard Spanj recently say something along the lines of "I dont think I could go back to vanilla" But tutorials and missions are by far the worst part of Empyrion they are so boring to watch.
@@honeybadger781 I get it having action, testing all the new guns and coming up with a bang is great. I play on servers (Spanj, HWS+) and almost every season will do everything, read all notes and dialog, missions, tutorials, no stone left unturn.
RE have a different story line than vanilla, if you're playing only RE you never realise how many updates they have made to the vanilla story and features. Nothing wrong in playing RE, but I'd recommend occasionally going back and reexperience all the updates to vanilla also. Many of the slow tuturial elements are also optional now-a-days (at least on experimental).
Big trick I use, craft energy bars to max and don't take them out of your personal crafting inventory, they never spoil that way and you always have emergency food.
When you pickup your backpack on death it puts everything back in your toolbar so you play drop all.
Also blueprints usually are instant anyway because you fill them with salvage which reduces the time.
This game is so underrated ... It's a literally best survival space game .
It just needs a Little bit better art and graphic designs and bit more work on AI... And I think they working towards it .
Game is very deep... the more I learn about it...the more I become in love with it.

Cause you don't even have to build ships you can just subscribe to people In the workshop and get their builds.
I believe I first downloaded Empyrion in 2015, when it was still in Pre Alpha. I remember the Alpha launch delaying a week, and people getting mad because they had taken time off to play it that week lol. I've put about 1800 hours into the game I think, and I love it. You're right, it didn't get the recognition it deserves. It seemed like it was goin kina weird there for about a year, but I enjoyed it anyway. I stopped playing, in favor of Space Engineers about a year or so ago, but I might have to pick it back up. So much has changed, and yet so much looks the same lol

Wish we could get to see you play a Reforged Eden Mod series. Love to see you playing otherwise. Do yourself a favor and search for the Micro Ship in the workshop. Great starter SV for very early game.

It's always great when creators decide to play empyrion. Honestly theres so much to it, it's one of my top 3 games. If youd like a challenge, and a massive expansion, give reforged eden a look.

I have always wondered about how much people eat in survival games, far too much. In Angola while in a very precarious situation we were 2 surviving basically on roots, insects, snakes if we were lucky and the most important thing of all ... water. Survival games are based on first world luxury conditions, seeing our hero eating 5 protein bars gives me the shivers.

@@samsquatch7285 lol, no vanilla is fine, plenty of new missions in 1.8 as well, plus reforged will take ages before it's compatible with 1.8
i refer to the drone base attacks as "parts delivery service"
i bought it. tried it for an hour. was confused as fuck and just couldn't get into it and refunded it.
now im watching this video. AND IT LOOKS SO MUCH CLEARER. the tutorials have an actual nice flow to it. instead of a mess of trying to explain everything at the same time...

1.8 just hit live. This game is amazing. You dont know survival till you come up against dual zirax dreadnaughts. Thats one of the most intense fights I've ever had in this game
Kage, Glad to see you back but if you're not playing Reforged Eden now you're not playing EGS. Whole different game and sooooooooo much more to do. Also 1.8 is going to be out soon and it's looking like some nice changes. Planets are going to look so much better. You need to make light armor and put it on with an armor locker before you'll have a jet pack (toggled with J)
Love this game and it sucks that it doesn't get more attention. its still crazy to see how much the devs have improved this game since it was first released.

Hi Kage, GREAT mistake to start now. They are try to get out version 1.8 mid june. Right now it is on experimental and it`s mindblowing! They make a complete new tutorial and much more! This will realy blow your mind as a fan. So I hope you do a new try as soon it go gold in the next two weeks. And to start it new is sooooo wearth! Take a look at experimental.

Empyrion is easily one of the better survival builder games out there.
You really need to check out and play version 1.8 experimental. You'll notice the changes immediately and I think you'll be very happy.

Yeah, I remember your series with G4K and Aendams, loads of fun.
The 'low stam jump' is a combination. First you run to get speed. Then you jump. Then while you are in the air you release the run button. Since you are airborne you stay at run speed, but burn no stam. With a bit of practice you can get the combo down to a split second.
I just started binge-watching your series on Space Engineers; i hope you'll pick that one up again someday in the future as well :)
I never understood how Valheim could do so well and this game got virtually forgotten.
EGS has great replay-ability and I haven't been sold by the hype of Valheim.

I’m sooooooo glad others have a big love for this title too…I thought I just had weird tastes…turns out - it just didn’t spend more money on advertising than game code…(like nomansky and eliteDangerous)
I stopped playing a couple months after Kage stopped doing videos but I did try out Reforged Eden, I believe the mod developer is part of the Empyrion team now.

Your such a big fan of Empyrion... I am surprised you haven't tried Reforged Eden yet. It literally makes it twice the game it is now. It's a little harder... but in a balanced way...and it makes the game much longer and deeper and it adds a lot of neat new things. New ship parts, new weapons, new resources, new enemies...new POI...new missions... on and on. Many of the coolest ship blue prints in the workshop are made for Reforged Eden. Unfortunately it adds so many new things they don't work in vanilla.

Bug fest never fixed but DLC available. Verified 10.5k hours in game. Patience wained, gave it a fair shot.

agree with repair and bp and mass and cpu don't really limit the game they make it more fun
Reforge Eden is a great scenario for this. But a lot of UA-camrs do it. You should try star salvage. No workshop and you have to salvage all of your gear because the universe has been pretty much mined out
Think of Einstein's theory of space time, the faster you go the slower everything else is. So if you got pulled into a warp stream and fell out of it after they did, a year can have gone by.

@Kage848 Kage, if you want your blueprints instant you can just start a blueprint making then use the fbp console command to instantly finish it. Let’s you set the setting to whatever you want the repair speed to be.

From what I'm looking at, and I just bought it so I'm definitely interested (thanks for giving me a new addiction, Spanj), it looks a lot like they took the best of 7 Days to Die (lol you mentioned the blood moon mechanic from 7 Days as soon as I typed that) and Space Engineers and they had a weird sci-fi survival baby.
I really lile this game and loved the No Mans Sky game. I bought No Mans Sky and never even started the game and never opened it to play it. I wish they would port this to the Xbox one, cause I would buy this as well.

The jumping thing I know at least in Icarus you can do it, not sure on NMS. I have this game on my wish list so I am keeping an eye on your videos for sure.

In a new game, don't underestimate the chainsaw for self defense from melee enemies. Its hits interrupt enemy attacks, basically stun locking them.
Highly useful against enemies like the Raptor, just dont let yourself get flanked.

Really pleased you are playing EGS. Would suggest you either give Reforged Eden scenario a go or before you get to far into this series download and give vanilla 1.8 a go. A totally different start from what I have seen!
at this point (do play reforged eden) only thing i want is a option in the repair bay to fully deconstruct a ship. salvaging a ship when upgrading to a better is so annoying..

After you mine all the deposits, asteroids will start to fall and you could mine them, but they'r not prolly on the starter planet anymore to make the player move.

My personal opinion is that Empyrion is 2nd or 1st best survival game ever made. Though the undead legacy mod for 7DTD does bring that up higher on my list.
