    Technically, it's a glucose syrup. The cream of tartar does something with the sugar to break the sucrose into glucose. Great job with the video! You got my subscription.

    Simple camping recipe. Potatoes brushed with oil and then salt. Wrap in aluminum foil. When your camp fire is done for night, bury your potatoes in the hot coals. When you wake up, yum. You can eat with salt or fry them for breakfast or use them as a side for lunch or dinner. Enjoy your trip & God Bless you. * new to channel, luv your tips. THANKS

    It's called 'Invert Sugar', and if you caramelize it, then it's called 'Golden Syrup'.

    Besides being used to make baking powder, cream of tartar is great for cleaning stainless steel pans. My great-grandma used it for that besides making fresh baking powder. I also use it on my aluminum canner lid. It removes the blackened stuff from the canner around the steam spout using an old toothbrush. For my SS pans, it removes the rare stuff that sticks and best of all, it does not scratch.
    Here in the States here, they use gmo corn products, not my personal choice to consume. I have made marshmallows with coconut nectar syrup and rice syrup, but never made simple sugar syrup to make them. I'll give this a try the next time I make marshmallows, or "momos" as my daughter used to call them when a toddler. Thank you! I also make a marshmallow recipe, but then add the remaining ingredients for a batch of marshmallow fudge. Much better than the jarred marshmallow creme version. ;)

    OMG! How easy is this. Since I found you a couple weeks ago I have learned so much and how to save even more money which is really helping me at this point in my life. We, (my family) absolutely love camping. The one request I get is what we call potatoe boats, so simple and easy. You can customize each person's potatoes simply by changing the spices you add. You will need heavy-duty aluminum foil. Wash or peal potatoes, dice into 1 inch cubes, put into center of foil add lots of butter then season with your favorite seasoning. Our favorite way to eat potatoes! Close up foil, bring long edges together and fold down and leave about a 1to 2 inch space above potatoes then fold sides together leaving space so you can shake when cooking. Now use plenty of butter, usually 2 small potatoes takes at least 1/2 stick of butter. They take about an hour so I always put them on the open pit grill first. My favorite is just to salt and pepper them but the others are all different, 1 likes garlic another likes a season all another adds fresh chopped onion or chives, and another goes for a spicy hot. So there are a million ways to make them to anyone's delight. They are absolutely hands down the best potatoes you will ever eat. I hope you give them a try. So so easy. Have a great time camping. TFS. Have a fabulous week! Take care. Many blessings to you and yours

      @@LittleHillHomesteadGa I absolutely love it all, but the blue, pink and the friendship pattern I really like! It reminds me so much of my mother. My mom had the primary color nesting bowls. You're too young to remember "Blue chip stamps" but it was something grocery stores and I think gas stations would give you when you made a purchased. They had little paper books you would paste them in. Blue Chip had a catalog and brick & mortar stores. You would redeem merchandise with x amount of those stamp filled little books. I know it was quite a few books my mom filled to get her "prized" nesting bowls.
      I also love thrift store shopping which is how I over the years acquired the way too many pieces I have. But than again can you REALLY have too much Pyrex?😊

    • @LittleHillHomesteadGa
      @LittleHillHomesteadGa  9 місяців тому +4

      I agree you cannot have too much. My mom and grandma used the blue stamps to get glassware. I remember when our local grocery use to do something similar and if you spent a certain amount you got to pick a dish or glass and over time you completed your set.
      My primary set I got from my Grandpa when he passed away and when my grandma in law passed we got a bunch that we cherish. I display a few but love to use it daily. It makes me happy to see it. ❤️

    Thank you! I have bought corn syrup a few times and never even opened it; gave each one away. I just refuse to put that crap in my body. BUT, I have a couple recipes that call for some, that I'd like to try but haven't, so now I'll use your recipe. For camping, one of my favorite things is buttered onion: Peel the outer skin off a whole onion, cut it open (not all the way down) into quarters, put a pat of butter in the center, wrap in foil. When I camped a lot, out of my tiny Toyota Celica hatchback, I always carried a bag of onions, a tray or 2 or wheatgrass (DIY juiced it...chewed the cud), a cooler with butter, eggs, and condiments, and whatever veggies were in season. I was vegan at the time...now I'd be carrying meats as well. I did a lot of shish kebob veggies since that only requires a small, quick twig fire (which also works for shrimp).

      Dark corn syrup is regular corn syrup with a bit of molasses added to it. It doesn't take very much molasses, so add just a small amount of molasses.
